The Bronx Zoo was opened on November 8, 1899, with approximately 6,000 animals and about 100 exhibits and is still adding animals daily. The Bronx Zoo is a great place to visit. Animal lovers and families should visit the Bronx zoo because of the exhibits, the fascinating animals, and the history that makes it great.
To begin with, the Bronx Zoo is a place for people who love history. The zoo opened on November 8, 1899, and had 843 animals and 22 exhibits. The city gave 250 acres of land for the Bronx park to make a zoo to preserving native animals and promoting zoology. The Bronx zoo is adding more and more animals daily with their attempts to help rare species of animals breeding. While helping animals inside of the zoo. One of the Bronx Zoo’s well-known animals includes Patty Cake the Gorilla the first gorilla born in the captive in the Bronx Zoo. She became very famous and died at the age of 40 years old (York, Agence France-Presse in New). Another example of an animal that is special to the Bronx Zoo is the Turquoise turtle which is rare and currently, the Bronx Zoo is breeding side of the Zoo. In efforts to continue to expand the population of the turtle along with breeding them the Bronx Zoo staff are also still trying to find more of them to bring to the Zoo to keep away from predators until they have a larger population and are able to be released back into their natural
