I've a huge advocate of having a palate cleanser read in between or after reading too much of a certain genre or type of book. Thus, after reading a few books set in and about life in Israel, I felt the immense craving for a fluffy contemporary read. And Jessica Brody's A Week of Mondays was just what I needed.
Are you guys, familiar with the movie, Groundhog Day? The movie basically is about a guy who is forced to repeat the same day again and again until he finally gets it right. A Week of Mondays has a similar premise however in this case its sixteen-year-old Ellison Sparks who after have the worst Monday asks the universe for another chance to get it right. Eventually what starts out as Ellie attempting to prevent her boyfriend from breaking up with her, gradually turns into an opportunity for her to look outside herself and pay attention to the other people in her life.

Additionally being a huge fan of playlists myself, I appreciated the fact that Ellie had numerous playlists to reflect her moods, and I enjoyed looking up the songs that were on them.
Ellie herself is relatable, as is her reaction to having to repeat her Monday again and again. From denial, disbelief to shock and despair it's pretty much the reaction any ordinary person would have to her situation.
Jessica Brody is back in her element with A Week of Mondays, a feel good YA contemporary novel and it's the perfect read if you are in need of a lighter read or are having a bad day and need a pick me up. Because when Ellie finally gets her Monday right it's really right and truly worth it in the
Kris: Monday is here next week and then will be gone the rest of the week starting July.
Instantly, I felt ashamed, ashamed of myself forever. Ellie was falling into the man for himself mentality like the others and he felt ashamed of himself for
The reason why Ellie was psychologically damaged in this quote is because, of his high hope of his faith leading him to be damaged. Also, with fate, it could be why God did this to me, leading them to be psychologically and mentally damaged. But, if a good event occurs, we bless God because of how our faith leads us out of the darkness and into the light. Most likely why Ellie is psychologically damaged is due to the situation that he was in, which was the Holocaust. Thus relating to losing faith and being psychologically damaged.
Near the beginning of the story, Ellie gets separated from his mother and sisters. What he doesn't realize after being separated, he wasn’t going to see them again. “Tzipora was holding Mother’s hand. I saw them walking farther and farther away; Mother was stroking my sister’s blonde hair, as if it were to protect her. And I walked on with my father, with the men. I didn’t know that this was the moment in time and the place where I was leaving my mother and Tzipora forever.”(Wiesel 29). You never know when the last time you are going to see
The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a young adult/ science fiction book which takes place in a maze known as the Glade. Some of the most important characters include Minho and Thomas. Minho is one of the most interesting characters in the book. He was the leader of the boys, called Gladers, and one of the wisest characters in my opinion. Thomas is the main character of the story. Despite his memory loss, he helps guide the Gladers out of the maze they have been placed in. His strong efforts to save the Gladers and do what’s right has earned him the respect and trust to become a leader.
Spielberg usage of documentary footage for One Day in September in the opening moments provides us with archive footage from the news reporters; reporting the kidnapping of eleven Israeli men being held hostage by Palestinian terrorists. The News shows footage of the first rescue on live television, being called off. Then shows the hostage and terrorists being transport to the airport by bus. The explosion at the airport, the news coverage reporting that all the hostages are fine and the terrorist are all dead. There is another news coverage-reporting saying that “Our worst fear is realized tonight; reporting of the eleven hostages, two were killed in their room’s yesterday morning, and nine were killed at the airport tonight. They are all
In Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, Jake Barnes is a lost man who wastes his life on drinking. Towards the beginning of the book Robert Cohn asks Jake, “Don’t you ever get the feeling that all your life is going by and you’re not taking advantage of it? Do you realize that you’ve lived nearly half the time you have to live already?” Jake weakly answers, “Yes, every once in a while.” The book focuses on the dissolution of the post-war generation and how they cannot find their place in life. Jake is an example of a person who had the freedom to choose his place but chose poorly.

Kazuo Ishiguro’s Remains of the Day is about the struggles one man, Mr. Stevens, has with relationships with his father, Miss Kenton and his employer, but the struggle he focuses on the most is to be a “great butler.” He pushes himself physically to work as hard as he can, as well as mentally to determine what makes a butler great. Stevens sacrifices all normal human encounters with those around him in order to be an emotionless person. “When one encounters them, one simply knows one is in the presence of greatness” (44). Stevens, through many trials, proves himself to be a “great butler.”
"One generation passeth away, the passage from Ecclesiates began, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth forever. The sun also ariseh…"(Baker 122). A Biblical reference forms the title of a novel by Ernest Hemingway during the 1920s, portraying the lives of the American expatriates living in Paris. His own experience in Paris has provided him the background for the novel as a depiction of the 'lost generation'.

The theme of “Tuesday of the Other June” is to do something to stop the conflict before it is too late. As I was walking back from school with my friends, Will and Alex, we were talking about what we were going to do tonight for Halloween. The teachers seem to be really concerned about us, telling us not to go by ourselves but rather go in big groups or with our parents for trick or treating, like were 13, we can handle ourselves. Mr. Robert our history teacher was telling all the kids that he hates Halloween because it symbolizes the devil and demons. He was yelling at another student, I forgot her name but she was saying that she was going to dress up as the devil and try to summon other demons he was not having it, he kicked her out immediately. As she was leaving she said something weird speaking gibberish something like “Ligandum eos

The nineteenth century was a period of revelation and magnification for the Coalesced States of America. The Westward Expansion emerged by America’s desire to expand economically and territorially. Driven by the compulsion of consummating their manifest destiny, many Americans packed their paraphernalia, got their families yare, and commenced their peregrination to the West of the Amalgamated States. This great migration was mostly done utilizing wagon trains (Corbett et al., 2016, 481). Most Americans and immigrants peregrinated along trails, such as the California, Santa Fe, and Oregon Trail, to get to the West. These trails were long, exhausting, and lacked safety. In 1862, with the approbation of the Pacific Railway Act, this migration to the West took a crucial turn. This act sanctioned the Cumulation Pacific Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad, to build an incipient track that connected the East and West of the Cumulated States. This incipient track is better kenned as the first transcontinental railroad. The development of the first transcontinental railroad was responsible for a substantial increase in the Westward Expansion from 1870 through 1890.
