During the summer of 2015, I interned at a local doctor’s office. My passion for working in the medical field grew tremendously. I absolutely loved the experience I received and I also got offered a job after the internship was completed. Even though I was unable to accept the job offer because of furthering my education and because of my current job, I knew my hard work and dedication had paid off. I believe my education and the experience I received has provided me with a phenomenal introduction to the heath care field. I interned as a Medical Assistant and received my Associate’s in Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting in December of 2015. I knew that receiving this degree was only the beginning. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to have a better …show more content…
After extensive research, I came to the conclusion that the University of North Carolina at Greensboro was the best school for me. I am transferring to receive my Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro offers an amazing program in Public Health, which is completely online. The Bachelor’s degree in Public Health is a program designed to receive your degree by completing courses at home. I am eager to learn all of the material required for me to be successful in the career of my choice. My ultimate career after receiving the Public Health degree is to become a Medical and Health Services Manager. I hope to achieve this goal and make my family proud. Even though I will not be physically attending the university, I love the diversity of the university and the surrounding area. I have visited the university many times and the people are always nice and helpful. I hope to communicate with classmates via email and become a more sociable person. I promise to work hard and be very successful in all of my
While growing up, there are innumerable decisions to be made and paths to take. As I am approaching the ending point of my high school career, I have finally found the correct one for me. I have known from a surprisingly young age that I wish to pursue a job in the medical field, and have taken a number of steps to help achieve this dream. I show tremendous passion for both my educational and career goals, and how to reach them. My future is incredibly important to me because through doing my job, I will also be achieving my biggest goal: saving lives.
After graduation from New York University in 2013, I decided take time off before applying to medical school. I took this time off in order to gain more experience both in healthcare and life. I felt there was stillroom for me to learn about medicine and more importantly about myself. Firstly, I found a job working in the front office of a newly opened dermatology practice, learning about the business, insurance, and paperwork that goes into running a medical practice. Wanting more exposure to medical procedures and interaction between doctor and patient, I became a medical assistant. This was one of the most valuable experiences of my gap years. I was able to gain first hand experience of the daily life of a doctor and develop my communication
While a student in the Human Services Department at Wallace State Community College, in Hanceville, AL I was required to perform 450 Clinical hours of Internship for graduation. The place of my tutorship was The Pathfinders Half-Way House located in Huntsville, AL. My first responsibility there was to correctly file away applications for admissions. In doing so I became privy to the unique and dubious methodology of coding each applicant. One code indicates their race, sex, gender, married, single, divorced, with or without children, drug of choice, whether they were HIV positive, intravenous user active within the last 30 days, previous treatment or not, how many times in treatment, dual diagnosis, proclivity towards violence or not,
My decision to pursue a graduate degree at the University of South Florida is not only because it offers flexibility needed in my everyday life, but also the perfect program I would excel in. I have done research on schools that off the best quality of education in Healthcare Informatics, and your prestigious institution has received critical acclaim for your excellence in specializing in research and medical. The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is par excellence, and I would be honored to be part of the USF family!
I worked throughout high school to secure my Associates degree in Health Sciences as well as my High school diploma at the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College in Largo
There’s has been many educational opportunities in my life but the most significant opportunity that I had that really impacted me was partnering and being able to intern with Sharp as a highschool student. As a student going to a high school focused on the medical field, I have gotten many advantages in my education for interning as a nurse at Sharp Grossmont hospital. I’ve connected with many inspiring and great people along the way and I have learned more about healthcare from the many preceptors I have collabed with. While I was interning as a nurse on the 5west area, it really open my mind up to determine if nursing was what I truly wanted and go along with. As the years went by, I have not only intern in the nursing area but also in the
I just saw the update with a tentative shoot schedule for next week. I wanted to reach out because I was extremely busy last week and was not able to respond to your original request. If there is anything I or my staff can do to accommodate you please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm not sure if you have visited my website but my role in the industry is patient registration and education. My company and our network of physicians has enrolled the majority of the patients in the Washington, DC medical marijuana program and we are gearing up to provide a number of patient and physician education and consulting services in Maryland. I am also launching a nonprofit to provide grants to low income families and veterans as this is primarily
After some trial-and-error in majors—after business and math education, I began to look at healthcare careers. I knew that I had a desire to help people because
As I enjoyed working with team of healthcare professionals and older adults, I’ve decided to find a full time job in a similar setting such as primary care clinic or hospital. I believe my knowledge, skills, and interest match with a professional who can make a difference to promote healthy living. This internship experience has made me more confident in my career choice, and I have gained valuable insights on my future career goals. This internship as my first "job" provided me a clear picture of everyday job responsibility as a learned healthcare professional.
I have learned about the “other side” of health careers, the side that student out of high school might not consider because no one says, “You should consider being a health educator”. The effort to educate people on living a healthier life- physically, mentally, and emotionally - is personal to me because of the lack of health education in my own community while I was growing up. This internship experience has offered me an alternative possibility of a career in the medical field. I have enjoyed working behind the scenes and learning from people who promote health among the employees of Kaiser Permanente.
I completed my associate degree last year, and as I am getting closer to completing my bachelor’s degree, as I look ahead I can see that light at the end of the tunnel. This journey has been very long, and at times I have felt frustrated and afraid, but I have learned to conquer my fears. Completing college is essential if I want to be successful and competitive in today’s world. Years ago I never thought this day would ever come. My current goal is to complete my B.S. degree in Community and Human Services with a concentration in Human Services. I am currently volunteering at an organization that helps to keep families from becoming homeless. Everything I have learned so far here at Empire State College has been tremendously helpful.
Thank you, so much for still allowing me to do the internship in the Spring semester. I know I'm very disappointed as well, I just was informed last week by my career advisor that I had to take an extra class in the Fall semester, which was really disappointing. Also, I will put the word out that you are looking for an internship in the Fall semester, and I will also keep contact with you throughout the Fall semester.
The decision I made from the list was listed as UAMS- Patient Education Patient Care Services with Barbie Brunner. I contacted her and even went up to her office to see if it was possible I can intern in her department. She stated, “she is interviewing an internship coordinator, so give her a few weeks.” The few weeks will be around when the semester start, so that wouldn’t help me at all. I went to this women name Katherine Metz (I go to church with her). During graduation season for high school students, she was recognized for University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) number one Nurse Educator Award. A lightbulb pop above my head. I thought to myself that I should talk to her about an internship at UAMS dealing with educating patients. She ask for some personal information and she emailed me back within two days. Dana Smith- Patient Education Specialist- emailed me and told me she will be handling getting me processed to intern with them. I went in for an interview. They told me the general information about the department, what will be taking place on the first day, scheduling, dress code, lunch, parking, and how and where to get the badge. After talking to them I know I will enjoy this internship with Dana Smith and Emily Gordon in the Patient Education Department at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
One of the main things I knew going in to my internship was that I wanted to work with kids, specifically I wanted to work with at-risk kids to help them through their struggles to lead a more successful life into adulthood. I thought of ways I could do this and realized that the best avenue for me to do that kind of work was through a government organization. I thought of community based government funded organization as the best way to assert myself in that kind of work weather it was a juvenile home or a school. That was the extent to which the broadness of my idea was.
Hope you are doing great and had an amazing spring break. I take great pleasure in informing you that I have successfully secured summer internship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Office of Performance Improvement, Process Improvement and Quality Education with the Clinical Process Analysis Team.
