The first pretzel in the world was created by a monk in Italy around 610. Some say that a pretzel was initially called a “bracellae”. Strips of dough are baked by the monk and he folded the strips into crossed arms shape which looks like the posture of a child crossing his arms in prayer. Baked pretzels were given to children who were able to memorize and recite the prayer correctly. However, there is no documented evidence to prove that this story was real. The three holes of pretzel represent the Holy Trinity which comes with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The twisted part of the pretzel brings the meaning of good luck, prosperity and long life. It was quite surprising when we got the pretzel that we have ordered. The size of the pretzel was big and the shape was formed almost perfectly. All of us think that it worth the price since it is cheaper compared to other pretzels out there. The color of the pretzel was golden brown and the surface was covered with the mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar. The texture of the pretzel was soft inside and crispy outside. It was in a warm temperature when we got it. It …show more content…

A child came up to me today and ask me if he swallows a cookie what all happens to it. Once it enters the mouth, chemical and mechanical steps work to break the cookie into smaller pieces and remove its nutrients for use by the body. Tracing the digestion of a cookie involves a quick trip down your esophagus, a churn in the stomach and a slow, winding movement through the intestines.

Nearly 50 billion cheeseburgers/burgers are eaten per year, which means on average an American eats three burgers a week. My favorite meal would have to be a homemade cheeseburger with mash potatoes, fruit (strawberries and honeydew), and to top things off a fresh glass of sweet tea. All foods have their healthy and non-healthy factors but do you really know how your food is really affecting your body?
Family, for the most part, is the glue in everyone's lives. Parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, and cousins have a place in our hearts that make us feel fully accepted as a person. However, there are people who hate their family members. There is one person specifically who hates one of his family members, this was Skidmore. Skidmore despised his brother more than anyone else in his life. In the excerpt from the story The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel, author Paul Haven gives important background information about Skidmore's brother, Boodlebrooks. He enlightens readers that Boodlebrooks is a well known man, who makes several people joyful, and is a generous person. Although it is proven that he is a good man, Skidmore has a built up hatred for his brother. It is evident that Boodlebrooks death was by Skidmore's invention of the pretzel, and clearly shown by Haven that Skidmore murdered his brother by poisoning the pretzel. The short sections of the story ,The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel, is clearly proven to be a murder case out of hatred, for Haven, not actually saying Skidmore is guilty, describes Skidmore as having a shady appearance, being angered at his brother about the bubble gum he sells, and by far is jealous of Boodlebrooks.
The waffle, however, comes up short in the category of cost. While the make up of the two foods are essentially the same, the waffle requires special equipment to prepare. These waffle makers can cost anywhere from 15 to 100 dollars as opposed to the traditional skillet that can be found in most households. This financial ease that the pancake allows earns it the 2 points in this section.

I am sure we have all seen or heard about taffy. What I would think would come to mind to most people when I would say something regarding taffy might be something concerning saltwater taffy. I love saltwater taffy. It seems that it is not in great supply around here. The only place I know of is somewhere like the cracker barrel. Needless to say I never go to cracker barrel, and it is a little more than I feel comfortable spending on candy. So I find myself resorting to a childhood favorite, laffy taffy. It is sold everywhere, and it is very inexpensive. I really started to like it when I played baseball as a kid. After the game I would always try to pump mom or dad for a few cents to stock up. It never made it home. I would somehow eat my entire entire stockpile. Whoever came up with the idea of putting jokes inside the wrapper is a very rich man. I could not help but to try to unwrap one more. The way the jokes where printed on the wrapper was very smart too. They would put one joke half way on the wrapper so it made me want to know the end of the joke, genius really.

Now I have the opportunity to look further into such a great company such as Tootsie Roll and really find out how the business is run and what type of work is invested in such a well known business.
Have you ever tasted school cafeteria food? I don’t think you would want to. In school story books, do you have characters saying that the food tasted good at school cafeterias? Nope. Why is this? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, advanced lunch system should be implemented.
If there is a downside to bagels, it’s that the average deli bagel can have up to 350 calories and 50 to 60 grams of carbohydrates—equal in carbohydrates to three or four slices of bread. Unless you plan to hit the gym after eating a bagel, there’s a good chance some of those calories are going to settle on your hips, thighs, and belly. Top your bagel with a hefty serving of cream cheese, some butter, an egg, or bacon and, well, you can pretty much count on gaining some
There are several Macaroni and Cheese recipes in this world. I have tried quite a few different types of Macaroni and Cheese dishes, but none of them could compare to my families Macaroni and Cheese recipe. The reason why my families Macaroni and Cheese is unique is because of the cultural significance and how it is made. For starters, my native background is, Haitian Creole “Macaroni and Cheese” can either be pronounced by “Makawoni au Graten” or "Macaroni au Gratin”. I grew up eating this dish daily and at every family function. Since this happens to be one of my favorite Haitian dishes I look for at every single family function, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share this recipe for people who love to cook or love learning about different types of foods around the world.
