Many can argue that college student athletes should be paid money for anything involving them. I'm here to tell you why i believe paying college athletes is the right thing to do. Universities have long benefited from student athletes, all whilst the only compensation those athletes got a full scholarship, and some only receive partial. As of right now student athletes don't get paid, the NCAA laws restrict any student athlete from being compensated for his or her performance.
If a college athlete were to have received money, the are deemed ineligible to participate in their sport. Not all students athletes are caught at the time and due to this they play illegally throughout their season. Once the NCAA finds out that the student

As of right now the NCAA owns all the rights of their athletes. By them owning the rights,it prevents the athletes from profiting from their likeness or fame. NCAA gets all the dough, all the profit from using the players fame and likeness, and plus merchandise sales, ticket sales and other marketing aspects. We need to come to the reality that these college athletes help generate billions of dollar per year for their selected colleges and receive nothing in return. An article written by Ryan Swanson of the Washington Post, Swanson points out that these college athletes deserve to be paid but have limited rights due to the NCAA guidelines. The NCAA is a multi-billion dollar corrupt business, that is supposed to protect their athletes not to exploit them for money. (Swanson) In pro sports most NFL teams are worth close to 2.5 billion dollars, per team. According to Forbes 2017, the team worth the least amount are the Buffalo Bills worth 1.6 billion dollars. Ohio state football program is worth 1.5 billion dollars almost as much as a pro NFL team. Due to the rules the NCAA has in place, the students on the Ohio State football team sees zero amount of the profit money. Even though they are the reason the football program is worth so much
College athletes are taken advantage of and deserve to be compensated for their services while playing sports. These students are exploited and used to make money and out of everything that particular school makes, the athlete never given a penny of it. All of the hard works, blood, sweat and tears that they put into that
Many people argue yes student-athletes ' deserve to be paid and one of the biggest reason many people support the idea of college athletes being compensated is because the NCAA and many universities make millions from advertisements, sponsorships, TV deals, and even video games and players is the cause
Do you want to get paid for playing a sport in college? (http://www.experienceproject.com/question-answer.php) College players should receive some payment for playing for their schools. College athletes put their bodies on the line each game they play, paying college athletes would help to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, (https://smartasset.com/retirement/should-student-athletes-be-paid ) and some athletes don't have enough money to pay for food or stuff they need and with the money they have left over they can buy things.
The debate on whether college athletes should be paid to play is a sensitive controversy, with strong support on both sides. College athletics have been around for a long time and always been worth a good amount of money. This billion dollar industry continues to grow in popularity and net worth, while they continue to see more and more money come in. The student-athletes who they are making the money off of see absolutely none of this income. It is time that the student-athletes start to see some of this income he or she may by helping bring the National Collegiate Athletic Association. There are many people who do not think this is in the best interest of the student-athletes or Universities, but that being said there are also many
The NCAA feels the athletes should not be paid. Horace Mitchell from the NCAA Board of Directors states
“College athletes are being educated, not exploited”(Ackerman, Scott). Some people believe that college athletes are being exploited because the colleges don't pay their athletes. People think that the players should get paid since the colleges make so much money. However the money that the colleges makes shouldn't play a factor in the athletes getting paid because the athletes receive so many benefits from their college already. College athletes do not deserve to get paid from their colleges that they play for. Most of the athletes have gotten scholarships to play for that college team. The scholarships that the athletes receive include books, tuition, food, gas, fees and other college related needs. So they have no need for a paycheck from their college when all of their needs are paid for. College athletes just don't deserve to get paid because they are not professional athletes yet (CNN News) (Daily local News).
Should college athletes be paid? Let’s take a quick glance at the pros and cons of each perspective. For starters, in my opinion, yes, college athletes should get paid. What deserves debate, is the conversation of how to get this done. From my experience, in America, you get paid in proportion to the value you bring to the marketplace. College sports is one, if not the
Due to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations no college athlete is able to receive any compensation or endorsement while participating in college athletics. These rules have long been challenged, however no changes have been made by the NCAA. With universities grossing close to $200 million a year college athletics has turned into one of the top industries in the world. The NCAA is a governing body of college athletics, but without people questioning the NCAA and demanding changes to the monopoly that the NCAA is nothing will happen to the unfairness to college athletes like it is currently.
Athletes do, however, help to create substantial revenue for colleges, including indirectly through advertising money. One possible solution to this might be to allow athletes to have their own endorsement deals, personally. In this scenario, the money would flow to the athlete not from the college, but from a major corporation. This would be only slightly different in principle from a college
One of the most controversial subjects we as individuals hear about this day in age is whether or not college athletes deserve to be paid. Many people argue that these athletes do intact, deserve to be paid for their time and hard work. NCAA athletes create a name for themselves by playing and performing well on their college teams. The better these athletes perform, the more publicity the school revives. This then leads to higher ticket sales and stores around campus selling jerseys and other clothing items with athletes names and numbers on the back. NCAA schools have become comfortable with using athletes’ names to bring in a revenue for the school, and yet the athletes never see any of that money. On the other hand, many people believe that these athletes do not deserve, nor should they expect to receive payment in return. They believe that these scholarships and the education are payment in itself. Some even bring up the question on if it is affordable or even realistic to pay college athletes.
There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play.
Many have different speculations on what’s right and not. The goal of almost every athlete is to see a brighter future of college sports, where every athlete gets paid. To get this started, my take on this whole situation is that college athletes do deserve to be paid. I mean they work their butts off for their college careers trying to balance school and their sport. The typical Division I college football player devotes 43.3 hours per week to his sport, 3.3 more hours than the typical American work week (Edelman).
There has been a recent debate on whether or not college athletes should be paid. Many people believe they should get paid, but many others believe they should not be paid. College athletes should not be paid because the students should worry about their education, it is an extracurricular activity, and the Ncaa does not approve of it.
I strongly believe that college athletes shouldn’t get paid because a scholarship to a college to play for their team and a free education is enough payment. Student-athletes with full-ride scholarships don’t have to worry about student loans or any other debts they would have to pay back for attending that college.
College athletes are finally getting attention on the fact that they are not paid. I believe that whether or not it is college or pro sports they deserve a salary. These players put their heart and soul on the field and get nothing in return. In the articles “Athletes New Day” by Paul Marx and “College Athletes Should Not Be Paid” by Warren Hartenstine, the reasons for college athletes to be paid are very evident. No matter the case, if the students move on to pro sports or not after college, they should be entitled to some pay for their contributions. College athletes deserve to be compensated for their playtime in these sports, sales of products with their name on it, and even compensation for their injuries.
