As a result of subscribing to this theory, many Americans overpay for health care, which they do not need. Similarly, Michael Sokolove, author of “Football Is a Sucker’s Game,” brings up a similar scenario regarding the faulty system developed rampant in colleges which, he reasons, is based on misconceptions about college football’s profitability. Although both Gladwell and Sokolove put up some interesting arguments, Gladwell’s argument is better presented. Compared to Michael Sokolove, Malcolm Gladwell does a better job with more effectively arguing that a faulty underlying belief and lack of consideration has resulted in a faulty system. He accomplishes this through simplified organization, coupled with clear and concise points, and his ability to expertly drive home his points by considerately addressing his audience.

She refused due to religious beliefs, she gets short of breath while wearing the mask, and she feels the mask is meant to intimidate and humiliate those who refuse the shot. The ethical question in this case study is to decide if Carla should have been fired for not wearing a mask after refusing the flu shot and what are other potential proposals. The four-way method will separate out what are the truths, consequences, fairness, and character, of this ethical case study.

Federal health care legislation has made the situation worse by emphasizing governments moral decisions over those of employers and workers who purchase private health plans. One of the bigger issues in health care funding are those that operate on the principles of specific treatments or plans. There are still many differences over what should be considered necessary care, or when doctors should prescribe a specific therapy or incorporate a delicate plan (Haislmaier, 2013).

The ethical decision making process is based on moral rules and unchanging principles that are derived from reason and can be applied universally. I think Michael Moore’s movie Sicko educates audience on not to take too kindly, not to look too positive on notorious America’s health care system. I think it reveals that America’s health care is market-driven, profit-oriented health insurance and health providers where as in Canada, United Kingdom, Cuba, and France, health care is free. But, I also think that the movie overall looks too much negative aspects of USA health care system and too positive on health care system in other countries, UK, France, Cuba, and Canada. In USA, health care is not basic fundamental right, not social justice. For instance, the film shows audience that a group of September 11 heroes, who are suffering from devastating and debilitating ailments, have been denied medical care or denied treatment by health insurance companies that they require in America. The documentary also reveals the defective, unreliable, cruel America’s health care system that has been so subscribed to and fixated on making huge profits and large sum of money out of the sick and injured patients rather than saving their lives. For example, the movie shows that America insurance process claims not to pay beneficiary’s ailing claims or the medical claims but dismiss them as evidenced by confession of a former employee of an insurance company. This does not only impact uninsured but also insured people who are covered by insurance whether through employer based or self-purchase.
