Introduction:
Researchers have found that although Canadian society features growing diversity, this diversity usually is not reflected in media content. For example, research show that ethnic-racial minorities have rarely been seen at annual and nationally television Juno awards ceremony for the Canadian music industry (Tepperman, Curtis, 2013, p.354). Americans children’s are the most powerful consumer in the world .As we seen in the movie “consuming kids” in which it show how youth marketers have used the latest anthropology, psychology that transform the American children in to the most profitable consumer in the world. The researcher also have seen that these group are usual portrayed in stereotypical and negative ways (Tepperman, Curtis, 2013, p.354).In other words you could say that the ethno racial minorities don’t see themselves correctly in media and this brings to the feel them that they are exclusive from the Canadian culture. As Wilson and Gutierrez note “in the absence of alternative portrayals and broadened coverage, one side portrayals and news articles could easily become the reality in the minds of the audience” (Wilson and Gutierrez 1985:41-42).the most important study on the perpetuation of stereotypes has discussed the ways ethnic minorities have been homogenized in Canadian news reports.in the news media, this often takes the form of identifying them as a social problem “racial and ethnic minorities are depicted as having problem or creating problem in need of political attention or costly solution(Fleras and kunz,2011 pg.45) members of these groups are presented as a social problem in different ways.
