To better understand my own characteristics, I choose to take the MBTI test. MBTI stands for Myers–Briggs Type Indicator, which is a self-report survey that shows participants’ personalities and characteristics (Wikipedia). The result indicates that I belong to the ISFJ category, which means I am an introverted, observant, more feeling and judging, and turbulent person. From my recognition of myself, I think this test result is fair enough. I am detail-oriented, introverted, sensitive but patient, like to make plans in details and conduct them, afraid to become the focus of a bunch of people and public speaking. According to the explanation of those 16 types of personalities, ISJF persons are humble and shy, reluctant to change and tend to overload themselves. Thus I am somewhat sure that it is not a good choice for me to work in a stressful working environment.
b. Career Planning
My ideal career path is quite simple, starting at an HR assistant, then become an HR generalist, then an HR specialist and finally become an HR manager. Therefore, I hope the company have a relatively complete employee developing system.
c. Personal Needs
Personally I really hate to work overtime, so I hope the company or the position I work for will not require me to work for extra time frequently. However, if working overtime is inevitable, I hope I can get the overtime pay in time at the normal rate according to the local discipline of Minimum Wage and Overtime pay. For instance, in Illinois,
The Bem test said that I'm androgynous on Bem's scale and I feel as though this is accurate. I feel this way because although I strongly possess female traits (a couple being that I'm sensitive to the needs of others and that I'm sympathetic), I also strongly possess male ones (such as that I'm willing to take a stand and that I have leadership abilities). I also believe this is the case because some of my friends are similar to myself in the sense that they strongly posses both female and male traits and some strongly possess female traits. I'm also very close to my dad who possesses male traits so both my dad and friends have impacted the traits I have
This isn't the first time I've taken a MBTI test. My first time was in college at the University of West Florida back in 1993. Honestly, then, I didn't answer the questions as I am, but as I wanted to be. I suffered for that. I manipulated the test then, and got a result of ENFP. I tried to live to that standard, and it nearly killed me. I thought for a while, that I really was that person. I thought maybe I had just changed over time. Looking back, I see that I was who I am. I am an INTJ. This is where I am comfortable. This is where I can find rest and be who I am. There's nothing wrong with who I am.
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important
The world would be a lot better of a place if everyone got along and knew how to communicate effectively with one another. There are several different personalities at any given workplace. “According to typological theory, each of us is born with a predisposition for certain personality preferences” (Kroeger pg11 para4). The Myers-Briggs Personality assessment is the most effective way to determine one’s personality type. The test uses different markers to determine how one is stimulated and exerts energy, gather information, make decisions, and living structure. At the completion of the test one will get personality type that is comprised of four letters. The test was developed based off of Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs-Myers’ psychological research on personalities and later dissected into Otto Kroeger’s book, “Type Talk at Work.” This book gives one the tools to determine what one’s personality is and then goes into great detail about one’s strengths and weaknesses and how it applies to to real life situations. My personality description is ENFP; Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving. The following are details regarding and ENFP personality type examining a holistic view including personal and work place interactions. Everything is based on insights gained from real world experiences and interactions.
From the MBTI test, I got the INFJ personality. The energy comes from me, so I can drive, lead my future employees to achieve on the strategic plan of the organization and know how to develop employees’ skills. Also, I understand, care other’ feeling and have an empathy to others. This will help to learn and help people to have a work life balance. People should have work life balance because they may less stress on their jobs and life. They will well perform on their responsibilities.
A person’s personality is his or her essence. It is what guides decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore every nuance of such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of personality a person has, and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person specifically. Combined with other factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that someone has grown up in, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test (Enrichment 1) and analysis can determine an accurate portrayal of a personality. Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic functions and sub functions that combine to make a personality type. The mother and daughter team constructed it off of Jung’s theories (History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common personality types in the US population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality types is called an INFJ. There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ personality, overall, is practical, fact-based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private and makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders and are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others.
The MBTI assessment was an extremely useful tool in helping me to understand my inner world, assessing the way I think and behave. Dr. Robert Prescott in OB often emphasizes that we judge ourselves by our intentions, but others judge us by our behaviors. My personality type is reported as INFJ. The information provided in the assessment was a little overwhelming at first and has applications that reach well beyond the topic of change. I have learned that effectively managing change in the business world requires that I understand and manage change personally first; the MBTI is a start in that direction. I have begun to pay attention to my external behaviors, and realize that I can manage those behaviors to facilitate change. Change is often generated in business via external drivers, and to survive that change it becomes necessary to adapt my behaviors successfully to the changing environment.
They suggest that measuring one’s characteristics such as sociability, drive, self-determination and demeanor can aid one to better interpret and discern them introspectively. By taking the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) I am able to compare my personality traits to careers in which I may enjoy, will fit my individual personality and enable me to be successful say Drummond, Jones & Sheperis (2016). The results of my self-administered inventory are as follows; Introvert (I) 55%, Intuitive (N) 76%, Feeling (F) 86% and Perceiving (P) 67%. The four dimensions of the inventory seem to be very accurate for the manner in which I view myself. The result of INFP suggests that my personality shows a predominant association with being in a career in which I am able to care for others, such as a healer. This is a correlate with my first career as a firefighter and
According to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I am an ISTJ personality this means that I am an Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging person. ISTJ are very faithful, loyal and dependable. We are also reserved people who are interested in a secure and quiet life. ISTJ’s place importance in being honesty and can be trusted to do the right thing for their families and friends. There are some weaknesses to being an ISTJ personality we are stubborn, insensitive, and judgmental. This test is amazing it really nailed my personality.
This study shows the career paths within human resources. It gives an overview of each human resource specialty by explaining in detail of possible duties conducted. It also discusses the strategic human resource planning conducted by a recruiting and selection specialist, training and development specialist, and compensation and benefit manager. Each specialist may conduct his or her duties separately or may cover all areas depending on the size of the organization.
This report covers outputs from the HR Profession Map for the role of the Training & Development Advisor at Next Distribution.
As human beings, we different from one another. We are created with a lot of character traits. We all can gain knowledge about our own personalities, we develop our perceptive about strengths and weaknesses, and clarify what we truly value as individuals. The Myers Brigg personality assessment classified me as an Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, and Perceiving (ISFP) personality type. Results showed slightly Introvert 16 %, sensing 12%, feeling 19%, and perceiving 3%. Throughout this paper I will analyze the diverse parts of my own personality traits and how those traits have effected both my personal and my working environment.
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) enables an individual to gain a deeper insight into their inherent personality traits. For some people, they have had prior knowledge or underlying assumptions about their personality, but this test provides clearer information about each of their identifiable traits. According to the MBTI in Human-metric personality test, my scores were 22% (E) extroverted thinking more than introverted, 9% (N) intuitive as oppose to sensing, 16% (T) thinking more than feeling, and 12% (J) judging as compared to perceiving. Thus, my personality type is ENFJ. The ENFJ personality group is described as a minority group that consists of natural-born leaders, and people filled with passion, and charisma for example, Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey; they are notable members of this group, also known as the protagonists (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists apprehend pride in providing guidance for others to improve individually and to improve the community at large (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists find it naturally easy to communicate with others and excel at communicating with other people in person (16personalities, 2016).
