Friendship and Loyalty
People can’t live alone. As social being, people always need someone to consider as their friend. Aside from human, most people prefer dogs, cats, rabbits, or others as their bestfriend. These are social creatures that accompany people to play, exercise, and perform any other activities together.
To pet owners, dogs provided physical health through exercise motivation; comfort and companionship; an avenue for dog owners meet new friends, support and love as family members; a listening ear as therapists, and a feeling of protection and safety when out walking (Knight & Edwards 2008).

Usually, family members communicate with each other, and having similar communication with pets is part of viewing them as family. Pets respond through vocalizations and gestures, which are understood by their owners, sometimes in special ways. Some people prefer the intimate communication they share with their pet over conversations with humans.
There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term “family members” is used quite often. Cohen (2002) explores this trend in three different ways: “(a) Pets are like human family; (b) pets are part of a broader social network system but not family; (c) pets are family members only in a linguistically playful way.” (621).
Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have to pay much more attention to it. If we do not recognize the intense emotional bonds people have with animals, we risk damaging both the human and the pet’s well-being when they are forced to separate for various reasons (housing, illness, family disputes). Beyond psychological issues, if we discount or ignore the importance of pets in the kinship network in anthropological studies, we risk missing out on a rich area of human relations, which will enrich the field of cultural
As previously mentioned, I have always been drawn towards animals. At the age of six, all the way through high school, I was determined that I was destined to be a veterinarian. Growing up I watched dog training shows and learned about different animals. All of my favorite movies had talking animals in it and given human-like qualities. The more knowledge I gathered, the more I believed animals had rights. I treated all of my pets with love and formed a bond with them, even my pet fish. I used to watch Animal Cops on Animal planet with my grandma and was always appalled at the mistreatment of animals. They have feelings, thoughts, even memories, just as we do. Or, more specifically, just as children do. My dogs in particular have always been my children. The one I have now is more like my baby than previous dogs. We have formed a bond, just like the bond a mother forms with her baby. Pets become part of the family and the best
This has led to the belief that dogs can provide company, affection and support to people who are going through a difficult time or who feel lonely. Dogs have aided humans in tasks such as hunting, livestock herding, and guarding. However, as society moved from small rural communities to increasingly large metropolitan areas, the dog’s role changed. Throughout the years a more specific type of
Always keep in mind that pets have feelings too. They know how to get hurt, how to be happy and be sad. Now, you already have an overview of what are the things you need to consider, be confident that you can become a good
An animal that would take care of your house when nobody was home and protect the owners from burglars from breaking in. This movement or trend started forming in recent years. As Cesar Chavez once quoted, “We need in a special way , to work twice as hard to help people understand that the animals are fellow creatures , that we must protect and love them as we love ourselves” Animals today have as much equal rights as family members today. As many more pet parents are adopting and falling in love with these animals and being able to connect with them on an emotional level, Pet parents are able to relate and equate animals to human children. Many more couples are finding themselves with fewer children or not wanting to have the burden of raising actual children. As a result this trend keeps growing. Another reason that people are starting to see the increasing number in this trend is some adults are finding themselves with the loneliness, where the children they once had are moving away. These animals are feeling a void of loneliness. According to a recent survey done by Stanley Cohen about eighty-one percent of people do not consider themselves to be just a pet owner, but a pet parent and treating their pets equal to their children.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a pet as “a domesticated animal kept for pleasure rather than a utility.” Dogs have been considered man's best friend for centuries. They have stood side by side through natural disasters, family tragedies, the gift of life, birthdays, and anything else that comes to mind. These furry friends do not judge people for how they look, but show love and compassion to everyone. Dogs help people cope mentally and emotionally, receive sufficient exercise, and create new friendships.
Jeremy Rifkin had made such impact on readers through his article “A Change of Heart about Animals”. Not only did he inform us the reality that animals do have feelings, he also unbounded the label we had long given to the animals, thus fully altered our perspectives about these fellow creatures. In regard to the influence, I myself am not excluded. As a matter of fact, since I was a kid, I have started raising pets. As long as it seems, I have built myself an assumption about these domestic animals as they don’t differ much from humans’ natural behavior in life. They have feelings, family and awareness of surroundings.
Dogs are happy to see you no matter what kind of mood you’re in. Everyday when I come home from school my dog, Nemo, is there to greet me at the door by jumping on me and licking my face. I could’ve had an amazing, miserable, tired, or content day and the jumping still continues. Canines are loyal friends and the relationship between dogs and humans goes way back. Dogs are better than cats because they assist humans and show more affection.
Owning a pet does extradonry wonders to your health. One reason I believe this is that dogs can now detect diffrent types of cancer in human bodies.Dogs are able to figure out where the cancer is in less than three hours. Another reason why owning a pet boost your health is that they lower the chance for diseases such as heart disease and cardiovascular disease. They also lower chances of high blood pressure. Also people that suffer from a heart attack and own a dog are twice as likely to fully
Dogs benefit humans in many ways. They help the young, the sick, and the elderly population. Animals not only influence our happiness each and every day, they also give humans a life full of splendid health. The next when a family member is uptight or bickering at each other, remember that there is always a dog out there willing to be a best friend. The world would be a much nicer place if people could love more like dogs; dogs truly are a mans best
Family is one of the most important things in existence and each family member has their own importance. However, there is one type of family member that has its own special meaning, the family pet. Everyone has a preference on what they consider to be the perfect pet and there are many arguments that express opinions and reasons on the subject. Evaluating these arguments can help determine the logic and reasoning behind them, which in turns helps the reader make a critically thought out conclusion of the information at hand. Pet owner, Sean Curtis gives his argument on why cats make better pets than dogs ( Critical Thought pg 213 Curtis) and gives a variety of reasoning, logical fallacies and opinionated statements that without further analysis, could be persuasive.
Dogs help people to stay active and healthy. All dogs need to go on walks every day to go to the bathroom and to get their energy out. Their owners must come on walks also to make sure they don’t run away. This means that dog owners are more active and healthy by walking every single day with their dog. Dogs are not just wanted for walking, but for many other important reasons.
We need pets in many ways, and they need us. And this is why we bond with them: they get to know us at our worst and we get to know them at their worst. If you can't handle your pet’s worst, then you don't deserve their best. Pets are worth the time, because that time soon turns into memories and quality time that you both enjoy. And of course, this doesn't mean you have to spend every second of the day with them, just be there for them, as they were always there for you. Whether it be a dog, cat, horse, or fish, give your pets your attention, and (s)he’ll give you
Numerous people have pets that accompany them through life. Cats, rabbits, birds, and dogs are popular household pets. They keep their human owners company and quickly become part of the family. Owners refer to them as their "children," and younger kids in the family consider pets to be their "siblings." Immediately, an unbreakable bond is formed between pet and owner. Cuddling with dogs or cats seem to cause stress to disappear. Everything seems to be okay when a dog or cat sits on your lap. There is a lot of love there. Additionally, dogs seem to be the most popular pets, although I do know lovely "cat people." Actress Maggie Lawson, (Psych) knows all about dogs, how they are our best friends, and why we should all love them.
I have never considered that a book about a dog could be so appealing and full of deep thoughts. But I changed my viewpoint after reading the autobiographical novel “Marley & Me” written by John Grogan which depicts an astonishing story about the neurotic and loyal, clumsy and loving dog named Marley. In fact, as the author mentioned in some interviews, he intended to write the “dog story”, but soon after he realized that it was impossible to do so without including the family life [2]. That is why the title “Marley & Me” encapsulates the main topic of the book such as the relationship between a human and a pet. To start with let me introduce main characters: John, Jenny, and Marley.
Pets can fill a void in an owner’s life, by allowing them to nurture something and receive a sense of satisfaction. Socially pets have become so much a part of our daily lives that they are often treated as if they were children, some lucky pets even attend daily play sessions, and are treated to extreme indulgence; all to make their owner feel as if they were an infant or a child. Blind owners rely on their seeing eye dogs to guide them around wherever they go; they are trained to guide them past and around obstacles. The National Institute of Health states, “More than half of all U.S. households have a companion animal. Pets are more common in households with children, yet there are more pets than children in American households. There are more than 51 million dogs, 56 million cats, 45 million birds, 75 million small mammals and reptiles, and uncounted millions of aquarium fish” (np). Many movie stars and rich and famous people have begun using pets as a status symbol. Millions of dollars are spent finding the perfect and most valuable pet even to the extent that the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need for high status and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they live with. Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result in an animal of inferior security and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and violent temperament. In an attempt to
