It may be argued that the difficult choices that individuals choose are all shaped by the many experiences that they endure in their lifetime. Experiences are an exceptionally influential aspect of a person's life. Therefore, they have the ability to dictate a person's behavior to an extent. Experiences help an individual attain either a positive or negative attitude which allows them to behave in a certain way in different situations. In the novel ‘Moral disorder' by Margaret Atwood, Nell the protagonist demonstrates the difficult choices that she faces throughout her past, present, and future life. Throughout life the opportunities and struggles that you face while allow you to learn and grow from it. One of the difficult choices that Nell makes in 'The art of cooking and serving' is when she latches at her mom saying, "She's not my baby. I didn’t have her. You did". Nell doesn’t have a social life since she's always taking care of her little sister Lizzie while her friends are out enjoying life.She feels lonely and isolated, the book of ‘art and serving” is the …show more content…

No matter what happens we have to stay true to ourselves and be who we really are despite the difficult circumstances the world throws at us. In "The last duchess", Nell states, "I would have to go into the tunnel whether I wanted to or not – the tunnel was the road of going on, and there was more of the road on the other side of it – but the entrance was where miss Bessie had to stop. Inside the tunnel was what I was meant to learn" This reveals that she is talking about how Nell has to move on to the future, and not think about the past. People need to find it in themselves to let go of the regrets and move on with their life to be completely satisfied with who they are. This is an important aspect because it shows the difficult choices that she went through and she over came it by moving
