Execution by Hunger 1. Collectivization was peasants being forced to give up their goods to the government. Collectivization started at the end of 1929 by Joseph Stalin. He began collectivization as part of the 5 year plan because he feared the invasion from the Allied countries in the west. He increased industrialization so he could earn more money just in case there was a war. This impacted the peasants of Ukraine because majority of the farmers had their own land it was their only way of income. They became slaves for the government which they now had no way to make money or eat which began famine. 2. Miron Dolot lived the life of a farmer, but thought as a modern day hero. He watched the people he loved either die or give up instead of rebel a fight for what they believed was right. Father: died when Miron was three years old in 1919. Was part of the honorable society which where he wore a red cap and uniform on his deathbed. He had his funeral in the home of his family where many visitors also wore a red cap and uniforms. He was known for being a religious and honest man. Was the head of his village during Communist Revolution. Mother: was a very confident woman who believed in high morals and ethic. Known for being very composed, calm, and confident. Very tough lady who harvested the crops, maintained a beautiful home, and took care of all of the farm animals.
