Growing up with a stable family, being academically successful, and portraying a flourishing talent for music, Greg Hogan seemed to have it all. Thriving in everything he did, Greg performed at places like Carnegie Hall and won a scholarship to an exclusive university school to further his education. His skills in baseball, politics, and music led him to become actively involved in his school. Greg’s next big step was Lehigh University, where he ultimately realized the endless freedom he had from his parents. Wandering around campus, Greg ended up falling into the world of gambling before he knew it. His love for the game started out slow and worked its way up to a never-ending addiction right before his eyes, with the world of online poker.
Football was and is a very popular sport in America and has always been a favorite. Erik Fisher plays football because he is great at the sport, hence page 27, “Dad had brought Erik to meet Coach Warner earlier in the summer. Dad had knelt down and held the ball for Erik to drill fifty-yard field goals, one after another, while according to Dad, the Coach’s jaw had dropped lower and lower.” But, Erik played football primarily for and because of the fame. He had never cared about whether he had to hurt someone in order reach the top of the “Erik Fisher Football Dream”. On September 5 (pages 50-94), when Mike Costello dies of lightning, Paul finds Erik and Arthur laughing about how Mike’s hair was singed off. Paul was disgusted. Though Erik and Arthur didn’t kill Mike, their laughter reflects their inner evil and selfish selves. Paul then reflects on his own self and decides to walk a path of truth, unlike Erik. In continuation, Ray Lewis had once said, “Don't walk through life just playing football. Don't walk through life just being an athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone's life, that's the ultimate vision, that's the ultimate goal-bottom line.” Erik never had any character or integrity, whether he played sports or not. On the other hand, Paul did have character and integrity. Paul noticed Erik’s evil actions to get higher and higher up the Erik Fisher Football
At this point in the semester, I am five weeks into my practicum. Throughout the past five weeks I have come to learn a lot from Tyler, the Sports Coordinator at the Y. One of the biggest surprises that I have learned from this experience is the amount of time and team effort it takes to be a sports coordinator. While at the Y I have helped Tyler run and supervise different sports programs for the youth and with every new program there is more and more work that goes into it. When I started at the Y, there was already a session in progress. Each session is eight weeks in duration and there are several programs within the session. Now that the previous session has ended Tyler is showing me how to create the next session. With this I have observed that there is a lot of team effort that goes into building these programs.
Some people are born with natural god given skills and ability while others who are not that lucky and have to work twice as hard just to get the same result. And then there are those rare individual who even though they are born with the talent, they still work just as hard and sometimes even harder to keep improving. It is called determination and that is a trait that all the great athletes share and it is what separates the great ones from the just good ones. This is perfect way to describe Peyton Williams Manning, who is considered to be one of the most prolific passers in NFL history.
Experts argue about whether or not we have control over our lives. They question if destiny is determined by fate or by choices we make in our life. Two authors both take their sides on this topic producing evidence to support their claim. David Epstein author of The Sports Gene and Malcolm Gladwell author of Outliers: Story of Success both make an argument on how much we control in our lives in which they take different sides. David Epstein wrote about a track and field athlete who had incredible jumping ability despite never practicing high jumping. Malcolm Gladwell talks about how violinists were never able to float through musical school without putting in the practice hours. They each support their side with

When it comes to the sports industry, there are many different jobs within organizations and businesses. Prior to interviewing someone, I did a large amount of research on jobs within the NCAA. My ideal interview would have been with the athletic director for the University of Florida, because my goal is to one day become an athletic director. However, Jeremy Foley is a very busy man and was not available to meet with me. Therefore, I interviewed who I believe to be the next best person. I interviewed the coordinator of volleyball operations for the University of Florida Gators, Alesha Busch. Although Alesha does not deal directly with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), she abides by the organizations rules and deals with them through the University Athletic Association (UAA). The reason I chose to interview

Johnny Bailey was a star football player in high school and in college. During his play, time he's showed others not to judge him or others because they’re lower than them. Every coach he’s ever had during his career adored him because of his hard work and dedication.
Michael Jordan’s personality was very dear to his parents. He was very motivated by his father and was taught to work hard and not falter to the street life he was growing up on. He also had the patience to learn how to sew, clean, and do laundry (Personality Spring ). He had this need to love and be loved and be accepted by his parents that led him to comply and to fulfill the duties of his guardians. In 1995 Scotty Thurman was on top of the world. Thurman led the Arkansas Razorbacks to a NCAA basketball championship with one great performance after another. After this miracle season, Thurman made a decision that would change his fortunes. Rather than come back for his senior year and get his degree, he elected to make himself eligible for the NBA draft. With a NCAA championship under his belt, Thurman was confident he was ready for the NBA, but NBA scouts had different ideas. Thurman could only sit and watch the draft from start to finish. Today Thurman finds himself without a college education and still chasing his NBA dream in the Continental Basketball Association. With nothing left to turn back on, basketball is all Thurman has
