With a score of 44 to 37, the Varsity Football Team won against the Midway Panthers last Friday night at Waco.
“I feel pretty good, we stayed in it as a team and got the win”, Quarterback Devin Williams said.
The teams were tied with a score of 17 by halftime but the players were still determined.
“At halftime although they rallied back in the 2nd quarter and tied it up 17-17, I was still very confident in my team”, Jyron Russell, Quarterback/Wide Receiver exclaimed.
The team which has a record 2-1, is now ranked #7 in the area.

The second 20 minutes saw the YellowJackets start the half on 12-1 run and remain in front for the rest of the contest. In the run, four-different players scored for the YellowJackets. UTD came back with eight unanswered to close within five, 49-44 but a three-point play by Colhoff regained the momentum for the home team. It was a cloudy day and the Sherwood soccer team was trying to protect their undefeated 2-0-1 season, playing their rivals, Oak Hills. They were at home, they needed to win this game. They hate this team, but now down 3-0 at halftime it would be hard to come back from this.
Today is the big day, the team and I are stretching and full of confidence for this game. Coach Jane had all of us work very hard the past 4 months, the hard work, sweating, red swollen hands and wrists, painful none stop stretching and working out, putting so much time and effort into this will all pay off today. We feel more than ready to win this competition. We will go against DeKalb, Fort Wayne, and Wayne center. I feel very proud that I was chosen as the best server in the team, which is a very important part of volleyball. After we were done with a good stretch, we scurried up to the court to start our practicing. All of us excitingly got into our positions.
