All literature for the course can be checked beforehand (if necessary) to confirm the level of literacy. Basic numeracy skills are essential to any professional career, though having a calculator on hand can assist if a trainer does come into numerical difficulty. People skills are really the most important and pressing skills to have as a teacher and I would suggest that a degree of psychological understanding is implied within the definition of being a teacher/trainer. There is however, a big difference between a nervous student and one with a medical condition that needs more specialised help and in extreme cases referral to a medical professional would be required. Mentoring and being a role model is equally implicit and should extend to all values of being a human being and not just those related to First Aid. I believe that, in this regard, there can not be any real boundary to how a teacher/trainer can act. List and describe the points of referral to meet the needs of the learners There should be no need to signpost learners to someone with greater knowledge of First Aid, nor should there be another trainer with more appropriate teaching style, as different teaching styles can be used by anyone. Teaching-learning session is almost the same to the nursing process that is used in clinical settings (Habel,2006). In the learning process, the initial step is assessment of the learners understanding towards their health condition, which is then followed by the questions what do they need to learn and what will be the appropriate approach to teach them (Habel, 2006).
Being a student in the UW nursing school, I can not only take advantage of the special classroom settings, but also the advanced technology. With classroom settings designed for active learning, it gives me opportunities to share my thoughts and ideas with other students. Instead of listening passively, we would work as a team to find out the best solution for patients. Besides, the unique state-of-the-art technology allows me to practice and apply my knowledge in a simulated hospital setting. Since every practice is recorded, I can take a look at those videos several times and self-reflect. Thus, I can correct my mistakes and improve.
If a social worker has had first aid training, it would contribute to providing a positive experience for users of social care services, as they would be the first port of call in an accident or emergency. The service user would not need to wait on a paramedic or an ambulance to be looked at, they would be seen as and when the accident happened. It would also make the service user feel safe in your care as they will feel better knowing that if an accident does occur, you are there and easy to call upon.

Although the class teacher is primarily responsible to plan, deliver and review all learning activities for the class, a teaching assistant can work alongside the teacher and make contributions that can improve the teachers plan, alter the delivery to make it more effective for pupil attainment and extend the teachers initial review. “Planning, teaching and evaluation follow a cycle which gives structure to the learning process” (Baker, B., Burnham, L., 2010) and is vital in my role as a teaching assistant. Other children – this could be their friends, family, or siblings. Children like to copy and follow, they like to fit in with their peers. If a pupil is in a friendship group where they enjoy learning, they are interested in it and find it a positive thing rather than negative, then this will encourage children within the group to want to learn. They want to succeed because their friends are succeeding and they are not afraid or embarrassed to do so.
The school aims to have at least 4 members of staff who have all attended a 3 day first aid course and where possible to have all other members of staff attend a 1 day training. First aid should be carried out when necessary by a qualified first aider but it should not prevent someone helping if the situation requires. A list of first aiders is situated around the school in places such as first aid room and staff room. It states that all members of staff including supply need to know who the first aiders are.
My knowledge from a number of first aid courses influenced my decisions in how to care for Max, for example knowing not to move Max due to suspected injuries. Also my knowledge gained from praxis lectures and clinical practice helped to influence my decisions as I knew the importance of keeping the patient warm, clean, comfortable and advised while assessing the patient. This was demonstrated when looking after Max as the care-giver and I used appropriate hygiene practices and communication between the care giver, myself and Max to guarantee we all knew what was happening as well as what was needed.
To have a sound knowledge of first aid and safeguarding procedures and to ensure training is kept up to date.
My time spent in the Clinical setting, so far, has been extremely inciteful as to how to become a better educator in a classroom setting. Through the data I collected I was able to connect Borich’s Seven Variables of learning to the students. By being in the clinical setting for nearly two months, I have been exposed to new ways of thinking when it comes to structuring a classroom and instructing a classroom. Within this reflection you will find out how I would better plan an effective lesson for the pupils in my future classroom. You will also discover what I will do about certain issues in the classroom and how I will address/fix them.
I have received first aid training from St. Johns Ambulance through the student first aid programme. In terms of volunteering and charitable work I am a young carer for my brother who has autism and have worked closely alongside his school and have engaged with activities relating to children with additional needs such as swimming, sports and being a buddy. I was also nominated to switch on the Christmas lights due to my work, not only this gave me a great sense of accomplishment but also gives me a greater sense what it takes to fully understand and look after people with disabilities and mental illnesses which I can deal with and thrive under the pressure it brings. Sorry about your emergency with your son. Like you say it is important to be mindful of our adult student's life. When we have a general idea of what is going on we can understand their behavior. Adult learners are not in our class because they need to but because they want to, they are not willing to waist time and money, most of them are paying out of their own pockets or maybe their job is paying for the tuition and expect them to get good grades in the classes to in order to give them any
I do agree with your statement that by just reading the patient’s discharge instructions of teaching, it does not mean the patient understands it or that the discharge teaching was effective. As a nurse, every patient is different and have different learning styles. As a nurse, your job is to find out if your patient learns best by watching videos, reading, a hands-on approach or by written material. You would also want to consider the patient’s limitations and strengths. Do they have a disability? The best way to find out if the teaching has been effective is to ask patients explain what you just taught them. Lastly, including family members in the patient teaching helps the chances of the teaching being applied.
Many people have different views of the government and will base it off religion, family, or friends.
