1. Personal, social and emotional development: This area is all about developing a positive sense of self and respect for others, social skills including dressing, undressing and washing, as well as having an enthusiasm for learning.

The sequence of development of a child and young person is divided into five different aspects. They include: Physical, social, communication, intellectual and cognitive, emotional and behavioural and moral development.

Growth refers to the physical increases of a child’s size, such as height, weight, head circumference, and body mass. A child’s development refers the process that every child goes; it involves mastering and learning new skills. Every child is unique and will develop at their own rate. There are five developmental domains of childhood development which include physical, social, emotional, cognitive skills, and language skills. These domains play an important part in a child growing up. When a child develops physically he tends to gain control of motor skills. A child’s social skills help them to be able to get along well with others. His emotional connections develop when children relate to other people and share their feelings. The way, in which a child communicates helps with his language, including how they present their feelings and emotions. Cognitive skills include problem solving, creativity, imagination and memory really helps a child to organize his memory.

There are five areas of development when assessing a child which are Physical, Cognitive, Communication, Social and emotional and moral.

The Physical developmental domain is described as the development of physical skills or also known as motor skills(Chattenee,2011-2016). In my Child Development class, I learned many concepts about the development of children, but the three concepts I found the most interesting were Shaken Baby Syndrome, the methods of learning, and the different types of care for the mother’s and baby’s health. I am writing this essay to discuss these three concepts of the child’s development.

Proper development in children results from consuming nutritious foods and regular exercise. However, excessive television watching results in physically inactive children, sedentary children, and these children are more likely to become overweight. Television watching does not require energy, thus reducing the metabolic rate below the resting level. Additionally, excessive television watching correlates with more between-meal snacking, and with eating the high-calorie fatty and sugary foods most heavily advertised on children's programs, increasing the risk of dental caries. Some children may even eat fewer family meals and become more obese. Additionally, television consumes time that could be spent on active outdoor play or structured physical activities, as a family or with friends. All of these factors can lead to obesity, development of heart disease, high blood cholesterol, and potential development of type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Maria Montessori said the Child development is the process through which human beings naturally grow and mature from infancy through adulthood. The different aspects of growth and development that are measured include physical growth, cognitive growth, and social growth.

As children adapt to the environment in their early stages of development, they are normally not on their best behavior. Kohn (1993) described the cause of the behavior and values young children inhibit, and he provides ways to guide them to become self-disciplined. Effects on behavior and values include three major points pertaining to children's development. First, according to Kohn (1993), many adults believe that children need self-discipline. Children need rules, however, they may misbehave to avoid control from a teacher or parent. Teachers and parents should give children opportunities for independence and allow them to make their own discoveries. "The truth is that if we want children to take responsibility for their own behavior, we must give them responsibility, and plenty of it" (Kohn, 1993). Next, according to Kohn (1993), when teachers and parents put an emphasis on obedience, it normally does not work. Children need a role in creating rules make them feel included in the decision-making process. Also, children become more ambitious when they are given goals to continue improving. Lastly, children should learn about democracy for preparation into a democratic culture. By teaching children decision-making skills, they become more independent and make good choices.
