Water is probably the most important resource we as people have. Humans can survive without food for several weeks, but without water we would die in less than a week. On a slightly less dramatic note, millions of liters of water are needed every day worldwide for washing, irrigating crops, and cooling industrial processes, not to mention leisure industries such as swimming pools and water-sports centers. Despite our dependence on water, we use it as a dumping ground for all sorts of waste, and do very little to protect the water supplies we have.

Water pollution is a serious issue in today’s world as well. Water is a limited resource and though the earth is roughly two-thirds percent water, the quality of it is decreasing due to various factors including chemicals or waste. Because the quality of water is decreasing, the efforts to conserve it increases, which again results in humans getting involved, interacting, and implementing.

For at least two millenniums, the water quality has been getting worse and reached such a high level of pollution that the use of water for different purposes is very limited and water can be harmful to humans. Water is the source of life of all organisms and the foundation of human civilization. However, no matter how painful it is to talk about, people are extremely wasteful with water resources of the Earth and pollute it. Every year, up to 400 billion cubic meters of wastewater is discharged into rivers, seas and lakes of the world. As a result, that 5500 billion cubic meters of water on the planet is now in a contaminated condition. This figure is more than 14% of the total water resources of the world. People pollute the water and thus reduce the clean water sources causing health problems for people, destroying natural beauty and ultimately bringing down the economic system to make life more pathetic. The solution to the water pollution problem in the world is especially in the development of a legislative base, which would allow the government to protect the environment from the harmful anthropogenic effects, as well as finding ways to implement these laws in practice

Although there are many types of water pollution there are many other effects of water pollution on the environment. Polluted water has many effects on the humans, animals and our environment. The majority of highly polluted water is in or around cities and towns across the world. This is because chemicals, garbage, etc. is constantly dumped in our bodies of water, without any thoughts of what the result may be. That is a major problem because people who go on break do not have time to go home and get a drink and some ice; they depend on going to a fast food place or restaurant. This problem has taken up many people in Georgia who did not even think about the problems with water pollution until they went to their favorite restaurant and realized they were closed or either out of drinks.
