The places that are must affected by the water pollution are land locked water systems that can’t empty themselves out and start over again if they were contaminated by chemicals or other wastes. These places include the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. Ways that these places could be protected and reducing the amount of pollution is to make guidelines or rules about pollution and dumping waste. On the Mediterranean Sea side, where most people do not have sewage or other forms of removing wastes, perhaps building things here would help not only the people, but the
Water is probably the most important resource we as people have. Humans can survive without food for several weeks, but without water we would die in less than a week. On a slightly less dramatic note, millions of liters of water are needed every day worldwide for washing, irrigating crops, and cooling industrial processes, not to mention leisure industries such as swimming pools and water-sports centers. Despite our dependence on water, we use it as a dumping ground for all sorts of waste, and do very little to protect the water supplies we have.
Water pollution is a serious issue in today’s world as well. Water is a limited resource and though the earth is roughly two-thirds percent water, the quality of it is decreasing due to various factors including chemicals or waste. Because the quality of water is decreasing, the efforts to conserve it increases, which again results in humans getting involved, interacting, and implementing.
For at least two millenniums, the water quality has been getting worse and reached such a high level of pollution that the use of water for different purposes is very limited and water can be harmful to humans. Water is the source of life of all organisms and the foundation of human civilization. However, no matter how painful it is to talk about, people are extremely wasteful with water resources of the Earth and pollute it. Every year, up to 400 billion cubic meters of wastewater is discharged into rivers, seas and lakes of the world. As a result, that 5500 billion cubic meters of water on the planet is now in a contaminated condition. This figure is more than 14% of the total water resources of the world. ( Pakzadeh, 2015) Water pollution is one of the biggest problem of humanity. People pollute the water and thus reduce the clean water sources causing health problems for people, destroying natural beauty and ultimately bringing down the economic system to make life more pathetic. The solution to the water pollution problem in the world is especially in the development of a legislative base, which would allow the government to protect the environment from the harmful anthropogenic effects, as well as finding ways to implement these laws in practice
Water pollution is a problem that effects all living things. Every living organism on the earth needs water to survive. When the water is polluted, it not only effects the plants and animals, it harms people. Taking care of this planet 's water is very important to the short term and long term survival of living things. The oceans are constantly being polluted by individuals and many industries. These waters must be cleaned up before the costs are too great and the damages beyond repair. Action to clean up the Earth 's water supply is long over due. People in all countries must begin to take action. Plans must be made to rid the waters of pollution, and prevent any further destruction of the only source of water that the earth has. The actions taken will not only make the planet safer and cleaner for now, but for generations to come.
To prevent water pollution, you first need to know what it is. So, what is water pollution? Water pollution is the contamination of bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, oceans, ponds, swamps, and canals (Water Pollution). Water pollution isn’t only contaminating the Earth’s water source. It is also impacting the lives of the aquatic species living on the bodies of water. About 2/3’s of the Earth is made up of water. Over half of the planet is being impacted by the effects of water pollution is truly become a world-wide issue.
Water covers almost 75% of the earth’s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural resource that exists on our planet today. There won’t be any living organism on our planet without water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden]
Water pollution is a serious problem for the environment. It should be solved on a large scale at the level of states and federal governmental levels. If the public becomes more aware of environmental problems, it can be part of the solution. For example the responsibility of the Pacific Garbage Patch is on the conscience of everyone who throws garbage in the water (Marine Insight).

Water quality is a necessity to human life and all other species. According to Turk, J., & Bensel, T. (2014) the Clean Water Act The primary federal law in the United States governing water pollution, whose purpose is to "restore and maintain the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the nation 's waters (Turk, J., & Bensel, T. 2014) According to Water Quality and Water-Related Disease “The global public health impact of water contamination is significant for many reasons: (1) safe drinking water is vital for human survival to prevent dehydration; (2) water is essential for basic hygiene and modern sanitation methods, including wastewater treatment; (3) water use is key to every sector of an industrialized, transitional, and
Although there are many types of water pollution there are many other effects of water pollution on the environment. Polluted water has many effects on the humans, animals and our environment. The majority of highly polluted water is in or around cities and towns across the world. This is because chemicals, garbage, etc. is constantly dumped in our bodies of water, without any thoughts of what the result may be. Places that are mainly known to practice illegal dumping is health centers, manufacturing companies, markets and schools.
There are many ways to fix pollution, action just needs to take place! Did you know that over ⅔ of the world is covered with water, and less than ⅓ is covered with land? As the world's population continus to grow at a rapid pace slowly the earth will run out of fresh water! Now that will be a big problem. Freshwater will slowly start to run out, and some other countries around the world such as Ethiopia, Chad, Cambodia, Haiti and many more. Freshwater for those countries are not available or is at a limited supply. Water pollution plays a role in some of these countries, their water is contained. Drinking contained water can result to cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and many other serious illness and even death. Nearly 289,000 children age of 5 die because of unclean water or lack of water, That’s 800 children a day or it’s 1 child every 2 minutes.
Pollution kills around nine million people every year. That total only accounts for humans, not the numerous amounts of plants and animals that die from the effects of pollution. How does that you feel? Many people don’t know and understand what pollution is, what it does and harms, or even the different types of pollution. According to the online dictionary, pollution is defined as “the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects”. There are many different types of pollution that people should know about. One of the main pollutions is water pollution (Open Learn Create). Water pollution involves various water bodies that get contaminated from waste that gets dumped into the water. Chemicals, pesticides, and insecticides that flow into the water streams is also very harmful. When natural disaster strikes, like floods or hurricanes, they cause more harmful substances from land to mix into the water. Quite a few aquatic animals need these bodies of water to live. Another main pollution is from the air. Air pollution is when the air is contaminated and humans and animals are breathing it in (University of Rochester). Air pollution happens from different exhaust gases that are sent into the air from engines. Some of these gases can be poisonous. Something that is uncommon is called acid rain. It is caused by certain gases mixing with the atmosphere. Humans often cause air pollution by burning plastic, wood, and rubber without knowing they give off carcinogenic gases. A pollution that can be caused by most farmers is soil pollution. This happens when natural soil is taken over by chemicals, pesticides, and insecticides. Without enough nutrition from natural soil, plants won’t be able to produce very well. When plants don’t grow well, the soil splits and starts to erode. Noise pollution is something that affects humans without them often times knowing. This usually happens in bigger cities where there are cars honking, trains blaring their horns, or people shouting (Isreal). Light pollution also generally happens in bigger cities. “The effects of light pollution on plants and animals in the environment are numerous and are
Recently in Georgia there was major water pollution in the drinking water. Many restaurants could not serve drinks or ice and some even closed down for the time of the contaminated water. That is a major problem because people who go on break do not have time to go home and get a drink and some ice; they depend on going to a fast food place or restaurant. This problem has taken up many people in Georgia who did not even think about the problems with water pollution until they went to their favorite restaurant and realized they were closed or either out of drinks. Another way to help with water pollution would be if the companies should find alternative dumping facilities. This would help a lot because then the government would not
You see a sewer or pipe line dumping wastewater or sewage into a river, lake, or ocean. Ask yourself this question: would you drink from that water source? You see a sea otter or a seal swimming in water that has been contaminated by oil from an oil spill. Ask yourself another question: would you live in these waters? You see what you know as acid rain directly pounding onto a stream, lake or river. Ask yourself a final question would you eat the vegetation or the fish that directly come into contact with this polluted version of nature’s shower?
70 % of our Earth surface is covered by water and almost 60% of the human body contain water for nutrient transportation. The unique characteristic of water is water molecule is the only substance in this Earth that exist in all three physical states of matter which are solid, liquid and gas. All human beings need water to survive. The national development over the years cause the rate of water pollution increased. According to Gebre & Rooijen (2009) water pollution can be considered as a sign that derives from economic growth and is a common phenomenon in urbanized cities in developing countries. In general, there are three main issues that related to water pollution which are the causes, effects and the way to decrease this problem.
