The three strategies I need to take to be successful in my learning and studies this semester are taking notes during lessons, asking the teacher for any help if I am having trouble and using a planner. First and foremost taking notes during lessons in class will give me the references and the knowledge I need to succeed. Having those notes will help me with guide work, future tests and with my understanding of the unit. I can take a look back at them at anytime for example before taking a test. I find this strategy the most helpful, because it works and it helped me succeed in all of my tests and assignments first semester. The first step to successfully study for any type of material is to keep the material organized and make sure the information is correct. A good routine would be to check notes periodically
1. Well, to begin with, most importantly, I like to learn in a peaceful and calm surrounding because that helps in building concentration. I don't like a messy work area because it causes a distraction, so I try to make the area organized if possible. I get distracted easily so, if I am studying near a window, I close the blinds so I won't look outside, turn off the radio, television, etc. I start going through will all easy questions, then I work on the harder questions. Every time I think that I am tired or been studying for a very long time, I take a 30-minute break and I make sure that I am not over-doing it, that way I can take in the best.

Shellenbarger claimed that, those who “study smart- planning ahead, quizzes themselves on the material and actively seeking out help when they don’t understand,” (Shellenbarger) do extremely well.
As a new student in college I thought it was going to be just like high school that there was no need to study since the teachers would give us credit for everything and we would pass the classes like nothing. However, I was totally wrong for having that mindset for college. Once you are a college student everything changes. It is extremely important to find good study habits that will help you with your learning skills and that will make college a little less difficult.

He explains it very simply with ten simple tips how we can use metacognition to our advantage to help us study and not only memorize the material, but truly learn and understand it. If you look at the ten study strategies you will see they are very basic and would seem obvious as a study skill, but it is much more difficult to implement it. Developing strong academic study skills in Higher Education is arguably the most important area of learning and development a student can cultivate, in order to achieve academic success. The skills that are acquired, the learning techniques that a student refines and life learning experiences are all going to develop into long-term career prospects and future career enhancement. Some of the key areas for development and discussion in this essay will include note taking/essay writing, critical thinking and analysing questions and reflective thinking skills.

The biggest strategy that I learned to take part in over the last 7 weeks was the strategy of proper planning when it came to the assignments that were due to be completed. By using the calendar that GCU provided, I was able to make a gameplan that allowed me to work on my coursework while also allowing me to fulfill my other duties when it comes to life. Additionally, learning how to properly devise such schedules was also beneficial since it showed me how to plan so that in the case that an emergency was to come up then I would be prepared to handle it.

In Olson’s writings about how students learn to believe in themselves she focuses on how their experiences lead them on a path of extended learning. This leads those students to discovering what it takes to be resilient in learning. Her findings that many great learners were not always successful in school helps people to understand that learning does not always have to take place in a school building many learners develop the “seven habits of learning” (Olson, pp. 49-53). These habits have taught the great learners how to excel at what they love even if it is not taught in the classroom. These learners know what their strengths are tend to focus on these rather than what they may not be great in, these are the learners we sometimes see off task and doing what they love rather than what the teachers are teaching. With these learners they have passions and sometimes as teachers we can tap into these passions and get our learners to use them in a classroom setting.
Through analysing the findings above, I believe that there are two salient aspects that should be reinforced and strengthened in order to best support the development of Annika. Firstly, it is paramount that Annika continues to learn through play in order to discover and build a strong sense of self (identity). Additionally, Annika needs to be supported and exposed to various scenarios that will assist her to make decisions and direct her own play without forcing or dictating to others (abilities). Support strategies for these two aspects will now be discussed.
We, as students, are often inundated with various coursework where we are expected to study from and be prepared to perform well on any given quizzes or exams. Over the course of a student’s life, he or she eventually develops a personal study method that works best. Some people are better at establishing effective study methods, while some do not. Do you remember it? That moment when learning clicked into place, and suddenly it all made sense. Just remember as long as you live, keep learning how to live. Certainly there are many ways to learn and many factors that come to mind that help making it easy, fast and efficient. However, people might be mislead by talent being the main component that helps us learn how to accomplish certain tasks, when effort and eagerness to learn are more valuable components. To develop successful learning habits hard work and motivation are two valuable ingredients, unlike talent, which is not going to improve your learning skills.
