America isn’t the greatest country anymore
America isn’t the greatest country anymore and I’ll tell you why. Yes we have freedom and yes our bill of rights is one of the biggest advancements but there's still a lot of problems with our country. Just because I live here doesn't mean I love every second of it. Some people's beliefs are completely different from mine. I don't agree with everything Donald Trump says. Sometimes the media leads to too many controversies. I don't like how everyone looks at America as us having the greatest things ever created. As an over exaggerating of our laws and customs it’s not always the better. I agree with the analogy we're not a melting pot and that we're more of a salad in the same bowl. Being American

I feel as though other people around the world aren’t as lucky as us Americans. We have freedom and opportunities while in other countries governments are stricter and in many cases there is no freedom at all. Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, petition, right to bear arms, right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination and or double jeopardy are just a few that Americans live by. In the best case scenarios being an American is having the advantages of good jobs, living in good environments and having a good source of food. A little more than half of American families are making $60,000 or less and are living better lives then others that may live in poverty in different countries around the world. We have shelters for the homeless, which provides them with food, clothing and a bed to sleep in. We have people that care no matter who you are to them, whether you know them or not, we do know to respect and treat them the same. Not everyone can believe America is so phenomenal. We may be one of the greatest but we’re not #1 or the only one reaching the top. According to the CIA fact book, the United States is 63rd in the world for education, 42nd in life expectancy, and 169th in mortality
America has long been the envy of the rest of the world, and for good reason. Over the past century,
America is commonly characterized as the greatest country in the world, the glorious “land of the free and the home of the brave”, “indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. This idealization of the American identity conveniently focuses on what people want to hear and blurs out most everything else. In reality, Americans do not live up to the dreamscape created by our views, and we never really have. America is no longer characterized by its freedom and democracy, nearly every first world country can afford that luxury. Nor are we set apart by the great opportunities given to our people, for those are far from universal. We aren’t equal, we aren’t unified, we aren’t kinder or smarter or richer than any other country across the board. It’s easy to find the shortcomings of American culture, all the things we aren’t, but the things we are have proven to be more elusive. First, let’s examine the nots.
America the greatest! Some people may say, but why? Others may ask. Throughout America there are various opinions about the country as a whole.Yeah there are good parts, but there are also bad parts; a country is only great if everything is balanced, Economically, Socially, and Politically. In this case Michael Moore a left-wing political activist and author states that it isn’t in his book Stupid White Men saying that “everything sucked” referring to the United States. After reading the “Introduction” to Stupid White Men the readers will soon realize that Moore has very biased opinions on the United States.
United States of America, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika in the language of the Germans but Amerika Yhdysvallat in the Finnish tongue, is home too many diverse races and even more conflicts, the U.S has been host too many great adventures. You’ve experienced America in your own way but wish to learn more about its story, well to get to the heart of the story you have to go back to the beginning. After two terms as POTUS (President of the United States), George Washington was ready to depart his nation and not be President again. Washington announced this drastic news in his address (which would later go on to be called the Farewell Address). This news worried many Americans because they didn’t know how the U.S was to remain successful and prosper in the future. As Washington read more of his address, the
The people in America are given something that not everybody's given. A chance to be successful and to survive, and most countries are not given that chance. Being in America offers a lot to the people. One of the most important right America offers to America is the chance to be ourselves and to live in a place were small wars are not going on between states or communities. The U.S. gives us a chance to be fed. The people in America are not surrounded by a majority of starving people. Instead we have one of the most powerful economy in the world.
The United States is not the greatest country in the world. However, for a very long time, people have believed that the United States tops the list. This is because of the classic lifestyle and technological advancements portrayed in our daily media. The United States is portrayed as a country of peace and optimum harmony. Consequently, we get the impression that United States is the best place to be. The younger generation seems to enjoy life to the fullest with almost no regrets. After all, most of us can drive a car at the age of 16; compare that to other countries at 18. We have access to pretty much whatever we need. Most adults are not constantly monitoring and hovering over their children. They have jobs and financial prosperity is
Americans have been breaded to believe America is the greatest country in the world. America is a place of the freedom and possibilities, an outside looking in a very desirable place to live. However, America is not as great as Americans believe. Sure Americans have a wider range of freedom then most countries, but has plenty of issues that will repulse others from coming to the land of the free. Issues such as women’s rights, racism, and discrimination plague U.S. citizens nearly each day and that should change now.
Finally, America has lived up to all these ideals because it’s a great nation gathered. We celebrate Independence Day, Labor Day, our former president's birthdays and many other events. America went through so much the past years. We’re all one nation
We as Americans tend to get stuck in our everyday routines. We get up, eat, go to work or school, and come home, all so that we can do the same thing again the next day. Doing the same thing is a dangerous and unhealthy habit, much like not being in your natural habit. We take the same worn down roads, read the same ancient words, and do not get to really fully experience what else is out there for us because in America we are confined. Many people just do not think that there is really anything else out there for them to see so the make the claim and stick with the mantra that America is the greatest country. We go to work to get paid so that we can feed ourselves and families, and we go to college to get a well-paying job to provide for our future families. Americans’ are trapped in the system because these days we do not know any other way, and we have to do these things to keep acting as providers. “Down the ages too men have been impressed by the
Our country isn’t ravaged with war, and our people aren’t living in destitute huts, dying from diseases that they don’t have the medical care to solve. But with this there is also the downside, as Americans we are also very blind to these first world problems and how good we have it here. NEWSWEEK recently asked 1,000 U.S. citizens to take America’s official citizenship test, 29 percent couldn’t name the vice president. Seventy-three percent couldn’t correctly say why we fought the Cold War. Forty-four percent were unable to define the Bill of Rights. And 6 percent couldn’t even
There is no possible evidence or argument could persuade me that it is true because if America was the greatest nation in the world, there should have been no racism and discrimination, however, America is still struggling with the issues. That is one of many facts that America is not the greatest nation in the world. America does not have the best education system, economy, employment rate, and so on.
America’s gift to my generation is not just a physical gift, but a mental gift. The physical gift is the safer place to live and grow. This mental gift that America gave to my generation is a deep feeling that you can go around and be who you are, dress in what you want, say what you want, and basically do what you want without being restricted to doing one thing each and every day. America’s gift to my generation is the ability to grow, learn, and live life the way you want to without a limit. If you look at America compared to other countries it’s like a whole family, and America is the one that all the other siblings go to for help or a safe place. America might not always be safe but we can always count on all our amazing, brave souls
If you are an American you are mighty lucky because you will be free forever.” Ashley M., another ten year old from wisconsin, says “To be an American to me means that I am free. That when I grow up I can pick the job I want, what shift to work. And to have a good education. It means that I can say "The Pledge of Allegiance" and that I can vote for the President, my county clerk, and the Mayor. But to me it means most of all to be free and to be proud that I live in the United States of America here in Wisconsin.” To these young people, America is the greatest country in the world because America does not discriminate as much as the country used to, America is free, and America is centered around equality. To others, being an American simply means that they can go to almost any restaurant over the country and buy a hamburger
While reading this article it was brought to my attention that President Trump slogan “Make America Great Again” is not clearly defined. Questions and answers were discussed on the context of this message. “How can greatness be summed up, what characteristic or people are we aiming to please while making America great again and will make America great again and what area will determine America’s greatness” are questions that led to the topic of the discussion. President Trump’s campaign slogan has contributed to people of minority feeling uneasy due to evoking rights to help the majority and well-liked America (Republicans). The article addressed inequalities experienced by “black” people and how the “black” population will react to Trump making
America is not the Greatest Country is the first episode of HBO’s new television series The Newsroom. A news anchor, Will McAvoy, is seated between a strong liberalist, Susan, and a conservative, Lewis, on a journalism panel. When asked to describe why America is the greatest country from a student in the audience the anchor envisions someone in the audience using cue cards telling him, “It isn’t.” This persuades him to give his true opinion, and the anchor continues with a speech about why he feels this way. Will McAvoy uses bipartisan journalism to give the audience the impression that his approach on the subject is unbiased to distract them from his anti-American argument.
