The example on page 4 would be: « the silent air-propelled train slid soundlessly down its lubricated flue in the earth and let him out with a great puff of warm air onto the cream-tiled escalator rising to the suburb. » On …show more content…
The first machine pumps out the poison with a tube that went into her stomach. It had a camera at the end of it that the operator looked through. The other machine served as a blood transfusion mechanism. It replaced the contaminated blood with new one. b) What is significant about the manner in which the “Operators” saved Mildred’s life? (p. 14-15) The fact that it was a the operators saved Mildred in a very mechanical way, instead of doctors, shows us how evolved the technology has become. It is also significant in the sense that it is done in a casual manner and that it is very normal to do so in this world. c) Why do you think Mildred decided to take all of these pills? I think Mildred decided to take all of these pills because she was not satisfied with her life. She knew there was better ways to live and decided that she could never achieve this way of living because of her social status. We know there are a lot of these cases when the operator says: “We get these cases nine or ten a night. Got so many, starting a few years ago, we had the special machines built.” 9. What is the significance of Guy’s meeting with Clarisse? What effect does it have on him? Guy’s meeting with Clarisse is very significant because it opens him to the thought process. He never stopped to analyse anything before. He just did what he was supposed to do, like burn books. It has the effect that he is beginning to think things out. Example: “Of

I picked the top panel on page seven of chapter 12. I picked this panel because of the shape, the iconography, and the closure that is created. This panel is in the shape of a rectangle and makes it seem like this moment is stretched out and paused. It is very still because of all the death that is blocked off by the gutter, but it is still surrounding freezing it into a quiet moment of stillness. It is also a moment-to-moment transition panel, so the sense of time being stretched is further emphasized by this. If you look at Laurie’s distressed face, you will notice that her tear is the shape of the blood splatter on the iconic Watchmen smiley face symbol. With a little closure, it makes it seem as though she is crying tears of blood for all the dead people. Also, Laurie is wearing a choker with a skull icon on it that tactfully emphasizes the destruction of New York.
For the question asked for our first Discussion Board and that my book I wrote was stolen and published under the thief’s own name. Why they were able to get away with is? Would I have any legal protection? What impact would this have on you on considering writing another novel or book? Why do you think the publication of printed material was so tightly controlled at the time?
Montag kicked over a bottle of sleeping pills, which had been filled earlier that day. Mildred took the entire bottle and then passed out. She was then rushed to the hospital and hooked up to two machines which worked together to help her. The first machine transfused all of her blood with that of a donor, while the other pumped her stomach. Mildred has no recollection of the event.
The movie starts off with main character Tommy going to see his father. His father is the one that owns the facility. When Tommy finds his father in a meeting, his father tells him to go with him and his employees to take a tour of the building. While on that tour they walk underneath a pallet that is elevated by a forklift. This is very dangerous because there is a lot of things that could happen. One would be that the forklift would move forward and run them over because the position of the load covers the view of the operator on the lift. The second would be that the operator of the forklift would lower the pallet on top of them. The last option is shown on the movie in which Tommy runs his head into the pallet.
After his lunch break, Tom didn’t have long to wait before the paramedics burst in through the swinging double-doors of the ambulance bay wheeling in a young man on a gurney. Edward, a veteran EMT, recited the vital signs to Tom and Dr. Greene as they helped push the gurney into the trauma room,
The science fiction novel, Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, is about a futuristic dystopian society where everyone follows simple rules/norms: don't read books and spend time with their “families”. The families in the novel are also known as the TV’s. Whoever in the novel reads or owns books, gets put down by the hound. Montag, a protagonist in the novel, works as the fireman whom are very violent (like the rest of the society). No one in this society ever think, but when Montag (Protagonist) meets Clarisse McClellan, he becomes to question everything. Bradbury tries to portray that when people become emotionless, they don’t think about their actions which end up being violent. Bradbury’s hound (terrifying mechanical beast that kills who are unlawful) represents a type of police in the society that regulates everything and everyone. Thus Bradbury’s predictions are similar to today’s society in the police forces (which are controlled by the government).
The book “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury was about a fireman name Guy Montag. Montag does the opposite from what regular fireman do. He starts fires instead of putting them out. Books in Montag's society is forbidden to read and if caught reading the book would be set on fire. Instead of reading, that society watches large amounts of television as big as the wall and listens to the radio attached to their ears. It was not normal for pedestrians to talk and have meaningful conversations until Montag met a teenager name Clarisse. Clarisse was a strange girl that opened up Montag thoughts. She asked him about his work and what made him become a fireman. One question that really got him to think was the statement “Are you happy”(Bradbury 10). Montag believed that Clarisse was odd. She wasn’t like the norm of the society. She read books, walked the city like a pedestrian and, had meaningful conversations. After that encounter with Clarisse a number of events started to happen to him; his wife Mildred tried to commit suicide with prescription pills, a woman that hid books in her home decides to burn a live with her books, and Clarisse is killed in a car accident., With all these tragic events occuring, Montag tries to find a solution to this epidemic. The society has become controlled from power, a sense of censorship. Bradbury has shown his viewpoint of society through this novel.
Trying to convince oneself that they are happy is not an easy task, but one in which Mildred excels in. At the start of the book Mildred has a situation where she takes too many sleeping pills and a special doctors team has to rush over to their house to pump it out. Although this could be seen as an accident, some readers could interpret this action as

She killed somewhere between 11 and 46 infants and children in her care. She used injections of digoxin, heparin and later succinylcholine to induce medical crises in her patients, with the intention of reviving them afterward in order to receive praise and attention. However, many of these victims did not make it after the injections. The medication targeted at causing heart paralysis and other complications whenever it is given as a
In the future, the job of firemen morphs from putting fires out to burning books. The story Fahrenheit 451 revolves around this issue of book burning, but there is a deeper meaning to the book. Bradbury is warning that the monopolizing effect of social media will transform generations to come into a society with no genuine connections, no distinctive thoughts, and excessive reliance on technology. This book was written in 1951, and today, the propositions are no longer fiction, but are becoming a reality.
