As a professional counselor, it is my goal to help others through the difficult times in their lives. I am looking forward to a long and highly productive career as a family counselor and helping individuals with a wide variety of issues. It is my goal to help my clients to realize their fullest potential and find happiness within their own lives and for them to be able to develop healthy relationships in all aspects of their lives.
I am especially interested in family counseling, as I have personally seen how impactful this type of therapy can be for families that cannot seem to get along or are having troubles communicating with each other. Another sub-field of counseling I want to explore is dealing with eating disorders, because those
I would like to pursue a career in therapy, or specifically, in licensed professional counselling. I think I am a good match for such a job type because it is something that I am somewhat legitimately passionate about, as I enjoy learning about the subject matter as well as directly helping people; because of this, I have been willing to work hard in school in pursuit of it. I feel that people that have at least somewhat of a real passion for a specific field or job position have a substantial potential of being successful in it, because they therefore have the substantial potential of finding the work rewarding. Despite not having any experience in therapy and still being an undergraduate in my junior year, I have been consistently interested in the subject area throughout this education. I imagine that I will continue to be interested in the area while the job position will have the highest potential to involve my actual passion as a person. Actually working in the position, I believe I would be a model employee, working closely with the customers to help them with their problems while working to remain current with evolving best practices and findings. I would strive to be an independent worker that achieves positive outcomes and satisfied customers, and also an employee that shares information with other employees; I see myself as maintaining harmony in the organizational culture while facilitating progressive development. I believe I would continue to build on my

Family and friends has consulted with me about their problems. I enjoy giving them advice that allows them to think about the decisions resolving the circumstance. With this I’m inspired to work in the
My main reason for wanting to counselor individuals, families, and groups is because I enjoy helping people and I would like to see them overcome their current issues. Also, I enjoy reading about psychology and counseling. Honestly, I am more passionate about studying the field of counseling than I am practicing it. I feel that my journey may lead me to researching. But throughout my career, I plan to display professionalism to help my clients.
On a bright and crisp morning of March 25, 2015, I interviewed Joni Roche and learned what a typical day was like for this Professional Counselor. Mrs. Roche has owned her own practice for nearly eighteen years and has truly loved every single part of it. Mrs. Roche has received a Master of the Arts degree and is a Licensed Profession Counselor and a Nationally Credited Counselor. During my interview with Mrs. Roche, I truly learned so many things from different counseling techniques, what it is like to have a private practice and the good and bad things counseling comes with that people do not necessarily speak about.
I attended Mary of Nazareth School from preschool to 8th grade. Therefore, I know what a good school environment can teach you throughout your educational life. Good Counsel fits perfectly under these circumstances. As a candidate for Good Counsel, I have the characteristics of a responsible high school student. When I become a Good Counsel student, I will use my gifts and talents to benefit this school.
As I generalize and outline my reasons for becoming a Counselor, I am reminded of the things on life in which I am passionate about. Throughout every aspect of my life, helping others has been the most prevalent attribute that is revealed in my life. Being in service as a minister for over twenty years has placed me in positions to offer service to those that are hurting, lonely, depressed and literally have lost their ability to hope. As a Counselor, I would be able to assist students with daily challenges that may have blocked their path of making logical decisions for their lives. I find it rewarding in helping others find solutions to their problems or to support and encourage them if their results are not as promising as they have imagine it to be.
I am writing to request that my son Marcus Mackey, Jr, be allowed switch from AP Chemistry to any elective that is available. It is my understanding that Marcus has completed all required science courses to graduate. I would be happy to talk with you about this issue, please call me during the day at the number above. Thank you for your prompt attention to my request.
Upon embarking on my professional development project, I knew that it was important to select a Licensed Professional Counselor that was truly passionate about the field of counseling. I am fortunate to have a relationship with an Executive Director of a Counseling Center, whom referred me to Stephanie Featherston, LPC. I am grateful for this relationship with the Executive Director as I embark on my journey in counseling. I learned that Stephanie specialized in traumatology, a specialization that I did not know much about. This intrigued me greatly and was my inspiration in selecting her as my interviewee.
I have always known that I wanted to help people and this the reason I choose Mental Health Counseling as my major. After the classes I have taken at Long Island University (LIU), I have come to the realization that my passion lies in working with families. This is the reason I would like to change my major to Marriage and Family Therapy.

As a professional school counselor, I will have both the ability and responsibility to assist children and adolescents in the imperative task of taking responsibility for growth that nurtures self-esteem and effective functioning. I must accept responsibility for improving educational practices through continuing my own education and participating in professional development activities. Providing children with a positive school experience paves the way for a more successful academic career. This is done in a professional manner that fosters personal growth and academic success regardless of race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, physical or mental ability.
As I stepped off the plane for the first time at Maurice Bishop International Airport on the small island of Grenada I had no idea where the next four years would take me. I was just a young man from a small town in rural Iowa who had never lived outside of the United States, setting out on an adventure to pursue a degree in medicine. While working at a number of local health fairs on the island, I was able to spend a lot of time interacting with members of the community discussing their personal struggles with health. For many of my patients it was a poor understanding of how to maintain a healthy lifestyle or a lack of resources, while others were afraid of the stigma associated with disease and mental health. Though my time in Grenada was short, it was interactions such as these that continue to motivate me to focus on primary care, preventative medicine, and decreasing disparities in healthcare.
“Counseling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and client. Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and ideal mental health” (American Counseling Association, 2013). Completing this project hasn't deviated my choice to become a counselor once so ever. I recognized the time and dedication I would need to put forth. I connect with this profession because I leaned on my counselors throughout high school. After recognizing how much I was helped I wanted to give back to other students. In my opinion, the pros outweighed the cons considerably and made my decision easy. When dealing with children who are emotionally or physically abused it will be heartbreaking to listen to their stories. On the other hand, if I truly become an amazing counselor, I will be there for emotional support. I will be dedicated to helping all children who need someone in their corner to stand up for them and what's right. As part of
I come from a little family of six. I say little because I mean it’s only my three siblings, my mom and my grandma. When I was young (keep in mind I was six) our dad left the pictures and since then life has been good. Most people try to sympathize with you after telling them. That makes me a little ticked because it’s like they think I’m still hurt from it, like when you were younger and start crying over a little scrape everyone gives you that ‘Oh you poor baby’ kind of look. I hate receiving that look from people after I tell them. My family sort of had to adjust big time after he left no questions about it. My mom was working longer shifts and my grandma got a job as a housekeeper at a walking distance nursing home.
