Family is the most important thing in life. Family means “a group of people related to one another by blood or marriage.” (Dictionary). Therefore, “families provide all members with security, identity and values, regardless of age. When a member of the family feels insecure or unsafe, he turns to his family for help. He learns about his sense of self and gains a foundation for the rest of his life. This foundation includes the family's values which provide the basis for his own moral code. Spending time with family shows individuals the value of love, appreciation and open communication.” (Why family is important). We can always count on them. I value my family the most because they have always been there for me and has never gave up on me.
One main reason I also value family is because of the honesty we share. “Honesty means to speak the truth, even if it's difficult or gets you into trouble. Honest people communicate in an open, upfront way; they do not lie.” (Family). Having honesty is an important part of being a family. For instance, I told my mother about driving her car to the store to get her cigarettes. She was glad I was honest with her. There also another honesty I value in my family, which is moral honesty. Moral honesty is “admitting when you make mistakes.” (Family). For example, my mother was honest that she forgot call in my prescriptions one time when I was younger.
