The second value that I was taught was integrity. This quality was also very important because it has made me do things right even when no one is looking. Integrity is something that is hard to hold because there are a lot of temptations in life, and doing the right thing is sometimes very hard to do. This has shaped my own perspective because whenever I find money laying on the floor in the store, I was raised to bring it to the cashier to be returned to the owner. Some of these family values are the way children are raised, discipline, gender roles in the family, and the way families choose to live.

Values are passed down through every generation. I think that those values that passed down help us, whether we see them or not. If we had a list of values most would look insignificant but values helps us see what is more important to us, they help us make life decisions. My first rule is honesty because honesty is being truthful with yourself and towards others around you. The pro of honesty is being honest with yourself about what is going on in your life and being honest with those who love you. Another pro for honesty is that you can make your relationship stronger if you are honest with each other. I can also have a better friendship with my friends if I were to be honest with them. The cons of honesty are that you could hurt some people’s feelings by not telling them the truth about anything that is going on with them. This can also ruin a friendship with your friend if you are not honest about something you did to them. It also can ruin a relationship with your significant other if you are not truthful about finances or other things because it can make the relationship harder for you both to be honest with each other.

The values I hold most importantly in my life would be the ability to be resilient, resourceful, approachable, discrete, and reverent. Putting all these values into action are what has helped me to carry on with my life and stand as how I stand today.

The meaning of family could vary depending on our background, whether blood related, marriage, or just emotionally attached, it’s used out of a form of love. Values are the things we strongly believe in. Forms of values could be culture, race, or ethnicity. Almost everyone lives up to the saying “family first.” Putting our family first could mean putting things to the side for a family night, cooking for your family, or taking family trips. Others could be finding the right care or making sure our family is financially stabled. However, in our society today we lack some of these values.

Values influence our behaviour and attitude towards life and are reflected in how we act daily. They are influenced by what we believe is important in life, thus differ between individuals.
