Under the Department of Treasury, there lies the IRS agency. The Internal Revenue Service. This agency is responsible for collecting taxes and enforcing tax laws (The internal revenue code) Many responsibilities include collecting personal income taxes and employment taxes. Although there are many jobs within the Internal Revenue Service, an Agent, is the most sought after job in the agency.
With the specific job as an IRS Agent, you will be expected to do all of the following: conduct audits (a review of an organization/individuals financial information and accounts to ensure all of the information that was received is fully correct), investigate criminal tax violations, perform forensic accounting tasks and many more.
The Law: There is a host of constitutional and statutory authority establishing that the Internal Revenue Service is an agency of the United States. The U.S. Supreme Court stated in Donaldson v. United States, 400 U.S. 517, 534 (1971), "[w]e bear in mind that the Internal Revenue Service is organized to carry out the broad responsibilities of the Secretary of the Treasury (Notice they do not define Secretary) under § 7801(a) of the 1954 Code for the administration and enforcement of the internal revenue laws."
It’s a very demanding job. The usual day in the life of a DEA agent can be very crazy. DEA agents end up doing a lot of paperwork, but they also do lots of things in the field. To name a few, they run surveillance, bust up labs, cut down illegal plants, arrest dealers, cooks, and/or anyone associated with the use or distribution of illegal drugs.
