Female Nurses And Why They Are Beneficial

Nursing is one of the most rewarding and well-known professions in healthcare. As the Healthcare industry moves forward into the future, nurses are still and will continue to stay in high demand for many years to come. The overall majority of nurses throughout time have been mainly females. However, male nurses are being called for as demand increases. In fact, only 5% to 7% of all nurses are male (3). In this paper, the research collected will expand on male nurses and why they are beneficial and should be treated equal in the nursing profession. Dr. Christopher Kowal, DNP, MSN-NOL-Ed, an Alpha Treasurer and professor with American Sentinel University claims: Nursing advocates are relying on men to join the nursing profession to help curb a projected nursing shortage and play a crucial role in creating true gender inclusion and balance to strengthen the future of the nursing profession to improve the overall quality of care for it’s diverse patient population (Kowal 2). From that quote, the nursing industry still holds a scarce diversity among the amount of female and male nurses. Which is where the change needs to occur. Obtaining more male nurses into the profession will help balance the diversity in the nursing workplace as well as benefit the satisfaction and quality of care for residents or patients. The recruitment of males for nursing will also benefit the gender inclusion to aid easier and less stressful jobs in the nursing environment. Florence
