1. Why do state and local governments refuse to give out the numbers of Law Enforcement killings. Why are some crimes reported to the National Crime Report and some are not. White collar crime is not considered a safety threat to the public. Parenti states that 60% of the 582 companies in the United States have been guilty of tax evasion, fraud, violation of labor codes and workplace safety. How can these companies be held responsible and held at the same standards at the blue collar worker. 2. Why would a human fertilized ovum have more rights than the human carrier? There are groups that have attached over 1700 abortion clinics or planned parenting facilities by arson attacks or bombing. Workers have been killed and injured during
From 1973 to 2003 around 1 million abortions have been performed in the U.S alone and after the Roe vs. Wade case was found in favor in Roe which has led to a large controversy over whether or not an abortion kills a person. Today I will not argue over which side is right or wrong, but show you the facts and ethics of an abortion, and leave you the listener to choose whether or not to believe and act upon these truths. First the argument over abortion is not about women's right. Many people associate abortion with women's right but this is not the case. The argument for or against abortion lies in whether or not an abortion murders a person. Now with that context set we must now look to see first whether something is being killed and the answer is yes. Any Biomedical scientist will tell you that a unborn babies cell is different from that of her mother and if an unborn baby were part of her mother the cells of the baby would match that of her mother but it has been scientifically proven as a fact that a unborn baby is composed of entirely different cells than her mother. This meaning that the baby is an entirely different organism. Also we know something is being killed because the unborn baby has different cells meaning a entirely different organism is killed during the abortion process. Now we know that a unborn baby is not part of the mother and that something in the least is being killed. Now that it is settled that something is being killed with each
Most people, when they hear the word “crime,” think about street crime or violent crime such as murder, rape, theft, or drugs. However, there is another type of crime that has cost people their life savings, investors’ billions of dollars, and has had significant impacts of multiple lives; it is called white collar crime. The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines white collar crime as
The United States has been divided now over the issue of abortion for thirty-three years since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade in 1973. As of today, over 45 million legal abortions have been performed in the United States. Pro-choice advocates hold these 45 million abortions as being 45 million times women have exercised their right to choose to get pregnant and to choose to control their own bodies. To pro-life, or anti-abortion, advocates these 45 million abortions constitute 45 million murders, a genocide of human life in the United States propagated by the court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade. The debate over abortion in the United States is thus a debate of two extremes. One side argues from the personal liberty of the mother. The
According to the National Education Association, 98% of Latinas want to graduate high school, but only 59% actually do (Flannery). Being of Hispanic ethnicity and growing up in a predominately white town, I can say that I had the privilege to never feel this stat on my shoulders. Growing up in today’s day and age in a very good town, it is great to say that more than everyone I have come across in my school district has given me the benefit of the doubt and has always pushed me to be my very best. However, there are always the people that think that one is limited to what they can and cannot do, in my case they were wrong, and more often than not it’s the people that are least expected to put people down that do. The matter of reproductive right is usually presented as a vigorous significance in many articles and deliberations. In my opinion, women are safer when governments are aware that the right to an abortion is a human right, and denying a woman of such right is like stepping out of boundaries. “Reproductive rights rest on the recognition of the basic right of all
The supernatural is one of the most mysterious cases today that no one for sure knows is real. The concept of ghosts and objects appearing even though they really are not there is especially a regular topic when one thinks of the supernatural. It just so happens that these ideas are in The Tragedy of Macbeth as well. Although many people think Lady Macbeth motivated Macbeth to be a cold-blooded killer, in William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, it is the supernatural that increases his thoughts of gaining power and killing, especially when he sees the dagger that leads to King Duncan’s room, the ghost of Banquo during the banquet, and the apparitions. First off, many think that Macbeth was convinced by his own wife to murder King Duncan.
However, the pro-choice or the activists for abortions, argue that if a family is in a state of financial trouble, then abortion should be a practical option. Otherwise, the child would be born into a life of suffering, and inadequate living conditions. The pro-choice believers, bases their beliefs, upon the fact that having an abortion is the inalienable right of women. They believe that by outlawing abortions, women aren’t allowed to practice their freedom of privacy. In a way, women are being denied their constitutional rights. Many pro-choice activists also state that abortion is justifiable, because at the time of fertilization the ensuing embryo is not yet a human being. It is not a human being, but a potential one. Therefore, its death does not constitute a murder. Pro-choice activists’
Abortion rights are one of the most heatedly debates in society. There are many arguments for and against abortion. Each woman has the right to an abortion and the right to have a child. Women have the resources, rights, and respect to make reproductive health decisions that are best for themselves. (“Women’s”) We live in a free country and women should continue to have the choice to do whatever with their body, concerning women’s rights, health issues, and religious reasons.
The topic of abortion is a hot subject among the people of America today. Some say yes, women should be able to have abortions no matter if the fetus is in the first trimester or well in to the second trimester of gestation. On the other hand the other people say that it is murder of a child no matter the stage of development. Many of the people that believe that the fertilized ovum is a human and has a soul at the conception are the pro-life people. They believe this because of their religious beliefs and cannot scientifically prove this in any way.
Most everyone goes home after a long day of work and watches the news. Think, what is usually reported? The weather, local activities, headline news, or daily criminal activity. Shootings, stabbings, homicides, etc. are all discussed by media anchors these days. This causes most everyone in our society to become familiar with crimes that are considered street crimes. What most people don’t hear about on the news is what is considered white-collar crime, sometimes known as corporate crime. White-collar crime not only is less reported in the media but also receives weaker punishments than street crime. This paper will first discuss the similarities between the two types of crime and then explain why their punishments are strongly
Abortion is always argued with different cases and play a main role in medical ethics (blackwell.,p291).It is evidently reasonable for some to argue that in moral situation, abortion is a murder and it should be illegal, while others may claim that abortion is woman’s right when concerning on autonomy ( The abortion debate in Australia). Opponents of making abortion legal claim that abortion is a kind of murder on extend of moral situation. It is always regarded as a sin to kill a person who is no aggressor in most moral communities (new ethics 1). Fetus is a biologically human as it is not just a part of the mothers, such as a lung or a kidney. On the contrary, it is obvious that fetus is human due to he or she has genetic code of human and human parents as well (abortion myth p5). Moreover, it has potentiality to be a person with primary moral worth (text book p210-211). As Gillion (new ethics) pointed out, every person has his right to life, especially he is not an aggressor. This point is also been pointed by (Rebecca and john,Blackwell p204), “embryos has a right to life” .The fetus is innocent and
Abortion has been one of the most popular and argumentative topics that has still yet to be settled. Ultimately the question we can ask when trying to solve this issue is whether or not pregnant women should have the right to kill an unborn baby. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth takes place and is a moral wrong. Can we as a society call ourselves human if we allow the deaths of unborn babies to take place? Those who take the side of pro-choice or as also known as pro-abortion often use statements concerning life, humanity, human rights and freedom to support their claims. I believe abortion should be illegal because we as a society must protect the human lives that are in danger whether or not they are in their first
One of the first moral issues addressed by both sides of the abortion debate concerns a pregnant woman’s so-called natural “right” to make “reproductive choices.” (“The Rights of Pregnant Women”) Anti-abortion advocacy groups claim that “the only way to actually protect the mother’s rights will be by enforcing laws that secure her child’s right to life,” (“Argument 2”) whereas pro-abortion groups contend that these laws “create a dangerous precedent for wide-ranging government intrusion into the lives of all women.” (“The Rights”) With two fundamentally contrasting viewpoints at odds with each other, it is apparent that one of the core issues concurrent with abortion is a woman’s rights versus the rights of her unborn fetus.
In part one of the experiment, Flourene (0.1 g, 0.0006 mole) was measured and added to a 25 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Next, 10 M of NaOH (7 mL, 0.2 mole) was added to the flask with a ½ inch stir bar. The mixture was stirred until the fluorene dissolved completely. Then, Stark’s Catalyst, Aliquat 336 (5 drops) was added to the solution. The color of the solution turned yellow and two layers formed. The reaction was then stirred vigorously. Next, a comparison TLC was conducted against the starting material in a 20% dichloromethane and 80% hexanes solution. The reaction stirred for 5 minutes and after that a TLC was conducted. The mixture was not complete and after another 5 minutes another TLC was conducted. Next, the reaction was poured into a separatory funnel and the organic layer was separated from the aqueous layer. Then, 5% HCl (5 mL) was added to the separatory funnel to wash the organic layer, this was repeated two more times. Next, saturated NaCl, Brine (5 mL) was added to the separatory funnel and was drained. The organic layer was then poured to an Erlenmeyer flask and Na2SO4 was added to dry it. The organic layer dried for 5 minutes then a gravity filtration was conducted to remove Na2SO4. The filtrate was collected in a pre-weighed 100 mL beaker (46.7208 g). Na2SO4 was rinsed with toluene (3 mL) twice. The beaker was labeled and placed in the hood.
Abortion is a legal medical method to stop the premature delivery that is adopted in most countries of the world. It was legalized many years ago but nowadays we live in the civilized society where the human life is the most precious treasure and the question about the appropriateness of abortions is of current importance. Nowadays there are two opposing camps who present their arguments. People who support abortion insist that prohibition of it will deprive people of their rights to have free choice. On the contrary, people who stand for banning abortion claim that abortion deprive a human being from the right to live. Every person must decide for himself what is more important: deprivation of choice or deprivation of life. Another point
