An online class requires an organized person who manages their time well. The individual needs to be highly driven, organized, and have a desire learn. My determination to finish school early and my desire for continuing education while still serving others makes an online program perfect for me.
From day one of high school, I wanted to graduate a year early. With my parent’s blessing, I begin to prepare for achieving my goal of finishing High school in 3 years. I was 16 years old when I got accepted into college and begin my college career having just turned 17 years old. I declared my Nutrition major from the start with the goal of becoming a pediatric dietitian. My hard work was rewarded when I completed my internship at one of the
The results from this study verify the ‘Freshman Fifteen’ by demonstrating that freshmen at Cornell University, who were enrolled in introductory courses in Nutrition and in Human Development, experienced significant weight gain during the first 3 months of college. The gain in weight during the first 12 weeks of the semester was 1.9kg or 158.3 g/week. This amount of weight is more than double of that observed by Hovel et al10 (76.57 g/week) and more than that recorded by Matvienko et al12 (103.85g/week in their untreated control group).
Entering freshmen year, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, but I was lost regarding how I was going to do it. This is a sentiment shared by many students entering collegiate studies. Some students may not even have a direction or general idea of what they wish to achieve from college. Others, are either overconfident or hold a disillusioned perspective regarding course selection, work load, study time, time management, and the equilibrium between social and academic life. My first semester at Randolph-Macon began as a series of failures that lead themselves to success largely due to the influence of upperclassmen pursuing the same goals as me and continuously pushing me to hone my strengths and reevaluate my weaknesses.
Contrary, to what others have stated about online college classes, I found that there are many advantages and disadvantages for those who choose to advance in their career. Online college courses have become worldwide allowing individuals like me to make their own decisions on how to manage their college courses. Before I made a decision to take college courses online I had to be sure I was up for the challenge. Online college classes require the same amount of commitment as the traditional colleges. As I made the decision to attend online college courses I also explore every element of life factors and different skill techniques to help me succeed in my college classes.
Online classes are best for people who feel they can produce better work in an isolated environment with no instructor or classmates directly in front of them. This also benefits more for people with full time jobs or other commitments that would prevent them from going to the classroom. Now the downside to this is that you have more temptation to be distracted from doing your work. Since you do practically all your assignments online, it's real easy to go right onto social media sites such as Facebook and see what everyone else is doing. If you plan on doing an online based program, you have to have a lot of self-control and will power to keep from going onto other sites not related to your
The first quarter is always the hardest for me, this one especially as I work a lot after school. Being senior year I was looking to take an easy route, but instead I took hard classes to keep challenging myself; looking back now I should have taken the easy route. The biggest struggle has been finding time to work in homework after work, getting my work in on time, and I’m looking to improve my quality of work for the next quarter.

The transition from high school to college is a dynamic time in one’s life that parallels the change from childhood to adulthood. Both of these changes are dramatic and, as a result, feelings are difficult to put down into words. A messy combination of emotions fills the heart, surfacing in strange ways. Confident high school seniors go right back to the bottom of the chain when entering college as freshmen. These students start all over, just like entering grade school or high school for the first time. The move up from high school to college signals the switch from dependence to self-sufficiency. From a personal point of view, going through the experience of graduating high school and transferring to a residential college campus at STLCOP, made me realize I was no longer a kid and capable of making my own decisions.
Senioritis, or a crippling disease that strikes high school seniors as defined by Urban Dictionary. Symptoms of this disease could be laziness, a lack of studying, and repeated abscesses. What causes this disease you may ask? Well the answer is simple, twelve consistent years of the same classes just more sophisticated each year. When do you get the disease? Towards the second nine weeks in you senior year in high school. And who gets the disease? Well this is a great question, my opinion as to who gets this disease is that everyone gets it. It just depends who gets it worse. In my case it hit me hard, real hard. I tried my hardest all throughout high school. Wishing every day I could just skip my freshman, or sophomore year and just go straight
Junior year was one of the best years of high school, but also one of the most
Coming to this school made me change into a completely different person these last three years. My whole educational career I was always trying my hardest to be on the honor roll team and have the most perfect attendance. I never thought I would’ve ended up in the plight I’m at now as a graduating senior. There were many deterrents outside of the classroom that affected my performance in school, as it showed drastically in my grades as well as my attendance. In this essay I will be discussing those obstacles, who were involved, who helped me, and how I overcame them to finally get my high school diploma.
The transition from high school into college is undoubtedly a very important time in the lives of many young people. It is a huge step, and a huge change. There are some who cling to their fading high-school life, reluctant to let go and move on. Many of my friends would fall under this category. Some of them seem more prepared for the increasingly near future than others, and they will have varying degrees of success in beginning their college experience, be it near home or hours away. But Natalie is different than they are. Rather than getting caught up in the sentimentality of it all, she is embracing the looming future with open arms.

In the beginning of my freshman year I was really not the best academically in english. I don’t know why but I just never could manage to get a grade other than a D. Although I found it hard and struggled I began to figure it out through high school. I went from being a D student to being a B student my senior year. I have also grown as a person in the way that I treat my teachers with more respect.
All people can be good successful students, if they try hard and use self discipline to push them self harder. Being a successful student doesn't mean you are so smart you get to skip grades, it just means that you get good marks, work well with others, and don't get held back any grades. If you are a person who wants to keep your life on track, it takes hard work, determination, and patience.
Andrew Simoncelli once said, “Students who take online classes must be motivated, independent learners.” This is relevant because independence and motivation is what it takes to succeed in an online course. Online learning will not only expand what students learn, but will also bring a number of positive changes in the way students are taught. Courses online have changed everyone’s look at learning all over the world. It allows more opportunities for observers to learn online rather than learning in class. Another affirmative of taking an online course is flexibility and convenience. Students who would like to experience some of these ideas should look into an online class!
