A couple days before I decided to commit to CVCC to play baseball, my girlfriend that I’ve been dating for four months freaked out and got really upset with me. Her name was Sierra, and she was pissed at the fact that I didn’t pick the school that was much closer to her. At the time, she had already got accepted into University of South Carolina, which was her dream school. The day before I committed, I told her that I narrowed my choices down to Spartanburg Methodist College and Chattahoochee Valley Community College. She realized that Spartanburg Methodist College was located only twenty minutes from her and begged that I go there instead CVCC. I explained to her my reasons for not wanting to go to Spartanburg Methodist and why Chattahoochee Valley would be a better fit for me, but she did not want to her. The argument resulted in us breaking up our four month relationship. After the argument was over, I realize five communication barriers that took placed through-out our argument. The barrier I first noticed was the emotional barrier. Emotional barriers are emotional factors that impede a speaker's ability to deliver a clear message or a receiver's ability to hear a message effectively. During the conversation on the phone, Sierra gotten so mad at my decision, that she develop an emotional barrier and refused to understand, why Chattahoochee Valley was a better decision for me. The next barrier was the perceptual barrier! A perceptual barrier is how people see themselves or a situation.
