The idea of having flex time started out good in the beginning, now it has gotten out of control. Flex used to be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during half a class period. If you were on the flex list you would have to go to that teacher and work on homework. If you weren’t on the list you could go into the gym or do anything you wanted to. Now it’s just dumb and they are making it too much. It’s everyday now and for the people who are never on the flex list, it’s so boring because only two days out of the week we can leave the room and be free. Otherwise you have to stay in the room and basically forced to work on school stuff, are we actually working though? No, we fake it. It’s honestly such a waste of time and that’s twenty-five extra
This school year the district implemented Flex Mod schedules for teachers and students. This type of schedules allows students to have ILT, Independent Learning Time, where they can socialize or work on school work. If a student’s grades fall below a 70 they are put into Mandatory Learning Time once a week with the they are having trouble in. After two weeks if their grade is a 60 or below they are put into Sustained Learning Time, they lose all their free time and have to go into the library and do school work. They are in SLT for two weeks, if they bring their grade up they are released from SLT. If they
Thank you so much for your patiently waiting on this. I will defiantly consider you 30 day notice to be the day that you first were asking on the change in enrollment. Thankfully I do have the ability to make the care that you need flexible. At this time of year enrollment doesn’t tend to change much, so even if the contract is canceled, I am positive there will be spots available to Clara and Caden, whenever needed.
After the 4 days, I saw that if I ate a good breakfast and lunch nothing changed. I was still happy and my energy was high the rest of the day. But on Sunday, I didn’t eat a lot and I was using a lot of my energy over an extended period amount of time, my energy level dropped very quickly.
Many Students would agree on having school half the week and have the other half to do homework at home. Slaughter’s idea of a flexible schedule is really similar but dealing with an actual job. Slaughter pointed, “In 2011, a study on flexibility in the workplace by Ellen Galinsky, Kelly Sakai, and Tyler Wigton of the Families and Work Institute showed that increased flexibility correlates positively with job engagement, job satisfaction, employee retention, and employment health” (Pg 690). Slaughter believes if the workforce establishes flexibility in jobs, there would be an opportunity of having it all; because a worker could obtain a job and maintain their family bonding at home. In addition to Slaughter’s proposal, Dorment also believes that flexible time is
Wooden (qtd. in Baer) states that "success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming". Many students end up taking classes that they do not necessarily need or classes that are hard for them to succeed in. The result in not being able to drop a class within the certain time period results in students receiving an W (withdrawal) on their transcript, which not only affects their overall GPA, but may even eventually lead the student to end up on academic probation. As a junior at Cosumnes River College I think it is very important that the drop date for classes to be extended to a 3-week time period because students end up taking the wrong courses, there would be no negative affect on mental health, and most importantly students would have a higher chance of success.
Do you ever find yourself stressing for a certain class and working on homework instead of paying attention for the class you are in? A major solution to this problem that many students at Wellington- Napoleon High School face is to change to the hybrid schedule which would give us more instructional time in core classes, have a variety of classes each week, and finally, have more class options instead of unneeded or extra classes. Around the school you hear many people constantly complaining about the new seven hour schedule and various problems that they are faced with throughout the school day. I feel like there are many simple solutions to all the problems with our high school’s schedule that the staff should really consider.
Three hours. Three long hours of driving is a long time when you are a little kid, who is always anxious to move around and release energy. The final road has arrived, one long dirt road snaking through the woods. Every year the familiar bumps in the road rattle the car as we make our way to the driveway of our cottage. Years have passed now and the outside does not look as run down as it used to, due to multiple improvements. Because I was that little kid, the need to jump out of the car and run around and stretch became a must. Jumping out of that car I remember exactly how the dark wood of the cottage seemed to melt into the woods when the sun went down. The scenery symbolized the first night of the family vacation. Even though I know the
Its starting to grow really fast, “Nearly 300 school districts across the country allow students to attend just four days a week.” (Rebecca, Lake) Teaches pay still remains basically the same because they still are required to work a five day week, and with the money they save from transportation they can start to invest in paying the staff more. Their was a study that an average high school students spends approximately 3.5 hours a night on homework! Meaning if you got out of school at 2:05 and then got home and did your homework you would approximately have 4 hours of free time… which to be honest, that not a lot of time at all. Some schools are seeing a 19% improvement in attendance and a 7% improvement in
School is a place where kids learn math, reading, and science and other subjects. School is where kids are in a classroom where they have fun and where they learn. Kids go to school for 5 days of the week, some schools are starting where kids go to school for 4 days of the week. Kids should go to school for 4 days of the week. First, Teachers can have more time to go into detail. Also, Teachers on mondays have training on things to help their students. Finally, Kids have time to do their homework.
They want to add 90 min to school every day. They will hate that and it will be a long day and I get home late and not do my home work then I would go to sleep late because they added 90 min. All the class will be longer it would be long day for me we will stay later and now it gets dark outside and I will have no time to play outside then I just go inside and sit and play my game. We get out at 2:50 then if they add 90 min we will get out at
Sometimes everyone has a bad day including me. One time i had a bad day because I was grounded for playing the video games for four hours after i had a time limits of one hour that I can play for. So my dad got home from work and he was like how long how you played I told him that i play for ten minutes and he told me that he got a message from xbox saying that it been four hours you played so my dad got me and my brother in trouble for something that i did so my dad lock up the games and the xbox. My brothers were mad they told my dad that they didn’t do everything but my dad told them that they could of told me to stop playing for hours. So my dad has got us in huge trouble and he was mad for a the rest of the day my dad then told us if we
The college workload is something that teachers did not prepare students enough for while they were in high school. Many students fall behind and have difficulty completing all of the work that is assigned to them. A twenty four hour library that is available for students is a great idea because it provides students with many great opportunities and conveniences when it comes to getting their schoolwork done. A twenty four hour library molds to the way of life for college students, gives students a quiet place to study, and provides students with resources that a student may not have. Yes a twenty four hour library can prove to be difficult for staffing, but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives.
Also, we are at school for eight hours. In eight hours you have spent at the school, you should be able to get enough work done. We are at school five out of seven days a week. Schools start to early and end later than they should. For eight hours we have to listen to rules, that do not make sense. The point is we are in school for eight hours, for five days a week! A way they could fix this is, starting school at nine and ending it at two-thirty.
The type of creation that I believe in is that the days are not regular 24-hour days. I think they could be anywhere from 1 second to 5 trillion years. No one can ever say for sure. Apparently scientists proved that the world is 4 billion years old, which would make the creation about 3.999-something billion years old. This is pretty believable to me, I think creation would take way too long to fit into 7 24-hour days. I used to believe the 24-hour theory, but now that scientists have proved the earth is 4 billion years old and that the world is way more complex than I thought, I believe that the world was created in the span of 25-hours to 4 billion years. Like I said, no one can say for sure, for all I know scientists are all wrong just
Since the dawn of time, it has been one of man’s goals to constantly improve oneself. Education is one way in which man is able to improve their ability to reason, their potential earnings, and a variety of others. It is this drive to improve oneself that education is continually under the microscope. The scrutiny of education reached an all-time high in 1983 when A Nation at Risk was published (Evans, McCray, Rice & Tokarczyk, 2002; Walker, 2000; Zelkowski, 2010). One particular area this study attacked was the utilization of time in education (Walker, 2000). Districts began to discuss block scheduling as a way to improve the instruction students receive. Now with the adoption of No Child Left Behind (NCLB), schools are faced with the ever tough challenge of meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Taking a second look at the current structure of the school schedule may help to alleviate some of the pressure currently placed on education (Walker, 2000).
