From all these images presented above, all my images connect to the theme of passion through my two favorite sports of football and wrestling. However, these two sports gave me a feeling of satisfaction, that wasn't able to be attained from other activities or sports I have taken part. From that, even when I had to overcome adversities throughout my journey, it was worth it at the time, due to my passion for the sports. Ultimately, I choose to suffer for a temporary amount of time due to arising challenges during my journey, so I could find attain fulfillment when I succeed. Quitting when challenges are arduous, and never allowing yourself to have opportunities to find your purpose and fulfillment are detrimental in life. Therefore, by staying committed to overcoming those presented advertise, from playing football and wrestling, my passion guides me to develop as a person by acquiring a psyche of determination. I use that determination to reach my goals, even through adversities. Achieving those goals, gains self-confidence and improves my chances to reach
Someone once said, “You can’t help a person uphill without getting closer to the top yourself”. My story doesn’t involve getting one person up the hill but about fifty. Fifty teammates who each helped each other get one common goal. Our goal was the OSAA (Oregon School Athletic Association) State Championship Football Game in the 2015-16 season.
One thing I have a strong passion for in life is sports. My favorite one was volleyball. It taught me a lot about life and myself. My sophomore year I made varsity, but was upset when I sat the bench more than I played. However, I still pushed myself every practice and never gave up hope. This payed off because the next season I was a starter and a team captain. Being a student athlete has been an incremental part of who I have become in the future. I did not realize it at the time, but my participation in sports has affected my life in more ways than I thought. Consequently, sports have had a major influence on the career path I have chosen, and have also been a significant part of bringing my family together.
I stumbled awkwardly as I held the door open behind one of my friends. Walking into a large matted room filled with weight benches, large football players, and screaming coaches, I acted as if I knew the ropes of everything, as that was the key to success. I joined the tiny group of much smaller athletes huddled in the corner, separating themselves clearly from the football side of the room. This was my first day of wrestling practice. I had no idea what to expect, no idea how it would challenge me, and I was only there because I heard it was hard and I wanted to push myself. What would come to happen in the next several weeks would cause my head to spin, body to be broken, and would change my entire life mentality forever.
After winning junior tournaments I wanted more and therefore; I challenged myself to the next level. I remember having a chat with my dad, he was giving me a father to son chat about life and what is best to focus on whether academic studies or sport? As he was concerned because I was spending more time playing sports than doing school work. He said life of sport is hard but, I reassured him that everything will be fine. I knew I had a mind set and ability not to give up because my strength lies on mental toughness and my settling for second best wasn’t /is not satisfying outcome.
I have always loved sports ever since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories are of playing soccer with my friends on a wet, cold spring day or hitting a ball off of a tee and feeling like it went a mile, when in reality it only went about fifty feet. Even to this day I still can never get enough of sports. I get about four weeks off out of the entire year where I’m not technically in a sport, but I’m still always practicing and trying to get better because that’s the only way I know. I love everything about sports: the friendships, the competition, the passion, the atmosphere, the unity. Sports are one of my true loves and they consume my life. It is this strong desire that I have for sports that has driven me to want to pursue a
Coaching wrestling has been, and continues to be, one of the most meaningful and heartfelt experiences of my life. Wrestling has helped define my personal character, teaching me discipline, and enabling optimal performance under pressure and stress. I am grateful for the opportunity to pass this on to other student-athletes. The impact I have on their lives, as well as the one they have on mine, transcends the competition of sport. Simultaneously, I progress as a leader and role model, while they develop character and work ethic as young adults. I have been there for these athletes since the beginning of their high school career. Witnessing and being a part of their evolution has been an amazing experience. Whether it’s the smile on their face
I believe wrestling is one of the hardest sports around the world. There are only a few who stick around throughout the season because they are willing to endure the pain. I had difficulties deciding which sport to play, and I chose the one that called out to me the most. I had difficulties throughout the season at first, and then I loved wrestling even more after it ended.
My most favorite sport is wrestling. It is one of the hardest and greatest sports out there. It strengthens athletes while also building their character. When I first started wrestling in high school, I wasn’t the strongest, fastest, or toughest wrestler on the team. With the help and guidance of my coaches and teammates, I was able to become one of the top wrestlers at my high school. Through my high school career, I have had some impressive comeback wins, was voted as team captain my junior and senior year, hold school records, and qualified for the state tournament my senior year. After graduating high school I still wanted to continue my wrestling career. I am currently wrestling for the Wayne State Wrestling Club and plan to wrestle for
In the life of sports, it is often said that one doesn’t choose the game, but that the game chooses the person. When it comes to athletic talent, I don’t believe God blessed me with it, at least, not naturally. But, ever since I was young, the gifts with which I have been blessed are determination and drive – to accomplish whatever I set out to accomplish. And, while football didn’t choose me, I chose it.
Over a hundred professional wrestlers, both from the indys to the big leagues, have died before the age of 50. Most people that live in the United States have some idea of what wrestling is. The primary goal is that I shed some new light on a topic most have no clue on. I would like to debunk some stereotypes and misconceptions on wrestling and show it as a serious art. My research question focuses on how one can become a professional wrestler and the different aspects of wrestling one must consider when making that decision. In doing so, I will focus on the three most popular forms of pro wrestling: American, Mexican, and Japanese wrestling, and what makes them distinct from each other. Wrestling is the greatest performance art in contemporary
True strength is not only physical, nor mental; it’s both. Although I was unsure about participating in a predominately male sport, wrestling has had a tremendous impact on me. Wrestlers push their bodies to their physical and mental limits. It teaches one that, even if they’re knocked down several times, they need to put their all into getting back up. This can be taken literally but figuratively, too. In order to get in tip to physical shape, wrestlers endure hot, painful, long practices. Besides having a physical impact, practices have led me to develop a mindset that if I believe I can get through it, I will. Matches enforce important traits other sports don’t focus on: humility, confidence, and respect. It is the only sport I can think
Many of you watch sports and you may even play sports for club teams or Granite City High School. I may, for the most part, be done with club team sports and high school sports, but I am not done watching and enjoying them. Now my passion for sports was never always this strong. I never played little league baseball or park league football. I didn’t even know much of anything about football until my mom took me to a Rams game when I was about ten years old. As I got older though I really gained a love of sports. I love to watch things like Premier League soccer, the NFL, and the NBA when I get a
In conclusion I gained the inspiration and love for rugby when I first stepped foot on the rugby field that my dad played and practiced on. One big effect in my journey to loving the game so much was all the training and discipline that my dad put me through to bring me to be the person I am today. Because of the example of my dad and everyone in my life I don’t know what I would love more than anything
When life got tough and I wondered if it was worth continuing always the love of competition has brought me back. The thrill of stepping out on a football field, friends and family chanting only seconds left in the game, then victory. Then victory, the greatest rush, the rush that no drug could duplicate, this is the feeling that I live for.
“Football is like life - it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.” These words of Vince Lombardi perfectly describes what it takes to be a player in the game of football. The first time my hands touched a football and my cleats touched the fresh cut grass, I knew that I was in love with the sport. After almost ten years of playing football it became more than just "a game". This is why I believe that football is my one true love since it has my changed my life in numerous ways and it has had an immense influence on my ideals and notions now.
