Fossil fuels are always used in the world and have been in the earth for millions of years, similar to how a tradition stays in a culture. Even though Fossil fuels are like traditions they are very harming by causing pollution to the environment. Fossil fuels also hurt animals and can destroy their environment. The burning of fossil fuels can endanger us by damaging our lungs every time we inhale. Fossil fuels have endangered the environment. They make life easier for us and it is statistically proven that 90% of our technological energy is powered by fossil fuels. They help powering cars, heating homes, and cook our food. These examples are just a few but there are a lot more of problems with these daily used resources. The problem is mainly …show more content…
The reason this has started have started doing this is from the Clean Power Plan released on June 2014 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or also known as the (EPA). This will succeed in depleting the amount of pollution we receive from our resources. By making this change, we are protecting ourselves and other species of animals. While these are resources they still cause problems and some problems are worse that the other types. One type is destroying animals in the area by putting up windmills. Lastly fish could die by building dams in their habitat. Another solution that we can do is if we can lower the amount of fossil fuels people transform, create, and use. This will help by lowering the amount of pollution we create in the world by on average, 10 to 20%. This may take over a span of 5 years to it to completely work and insure that the companies that transform and use these fossil fuels are conserving them more. The government or either the EPA corporation can enforce the law to all companies. This will conserve and hopefully keep our fossil fuels that we use daily from running
One of the problems is that fossil fuels are non-renewable. They are limited in supply and will one day be depleted.
Fossil fuels run the world. 78% of the world uses fossil fuels to generate their country's electricity. Only 22% of the world electricity use solar and wind, which are renewable energy sources. Many people today use fossil fuels which include natural gas, oil ,and petroleum.Fossil fuels are very bad for the environment because they cause air pollution and greenhouse gasses to be released. Air pollution and greenhouse gasses can be reduced if cities and suburbs transition to renewable energy.
Fossil fuels can be replaced by Alternative energy sources ( Natural energy). If we do not switch to Natural energy sources, our atmosphere can be harmed with the use of fossil fuels.Using natural energy is money saving, not harmful to our environment and atmosphere, and will provide power for a
Coal, petroleum, natural gas. Together, they are the producers of approximately eighty percent of the world’s energy, and, according to the US Energy Information Administration, are predicted to remain as such throughout the early to-mid twenty-first century (EIA 6). Yet there are far more efficient fuels options than these, as the profound xkcd cartoon to the right suggests, and these options do not involve polluting the atmosphere, exacerbating climate change, or contaminating marine life with black goo. Additionally, fossil fuels are nonrenewable resources, and by definition cannot be expected to last forever. They are simply not a feasible long-term option. Therefore, rather than merely limit the use of fossil fuels, world policymakers should put as much effort as possible into developing cleaner, more efficient energy options like nuclear fusion. When fully commercialized, these more potent fuel sources should make fossil fuels obsolete by their very presence in the economy.
Our society today thrives off of energy consumption in order to carry out daily activities. Since the second and third centuries people have been using fossil fuel for heat and energy. In the 1700s, the use for coal really took off when it was found out that it could be used as a source of energy to create the energy needed to drive locomotives. As each new invention that needed power came into existence since the 1700s, fossil fuels became the energy source that was chosen and because of this our society has become dependent on fossil fuels for energy (United States Department of Energy, 2013). Today fossil fuels are still in high demand.
Currently, most parts of the world uses different forms of fossil fuels to meet their daily energy requirements. Humans have always used at a very high rate and it is predicted that fossil fuels will run out in 40-50 years. The society need to come up with better energy sources as fossil fuels are short and they will can never meet up future demands for all generations to come Fossil fuels cause extremely high rates of air pollution when burnt. Coal still remains a major form of fossil fuel and has been used in key power plants in generation of electricity and often utilised by major industries in making items such as steel. Another major source of fossil fuel is coal that is used mainly by vehicle engines that use gasoline. Natural gas is another source of fossil fuel that is mainly used in homes. Among the three forms named, coal and Oil are considered as the most dangerous ones since they cause high levels of air pollution by increasing carbon dioxide volume in the atmosphere.
Fossil Fuels such us oil, coal, and natural gas are currently the world’s primary energy resources because they originate from living things. Formed millions of years ago from the decomposition of organic materials such as plants and animal life, it is non-renewable resources that supplied U.S. and global economic development over the past century. In fact, Fossil fuel industries mine or drill for this energy resources, burn them to provide electricity. Natural gas and oil are used when it comes to heating and cooling. Oil is predominantly and most important resource responsible for transportation fuel and generate heat. Thus fossil fuels have served the mankind and are still one of the most useful tools for human existence. The world depended on Fossil fuels in which it allows us to easily live and absolutely necessary part of everyone 's daily life.
The human population is an advanced system that does many complicated tasks. It has developed technological breakthroughs that primitive people could not even begin to fathom. Understandably, the modern human race’s technology uses immense amounts of energy that comes, usually, comes from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are great in the short term for many reasons, but mostly because they are already in use for a majority of the world and they are easily accessible. Unfortunately, the great energy source that is fossil fuels is indirectly destroying the humans’ environment, earth. The burning of fossil fuels, the process where energy is harvested from fossil fuels, releases greenhouse gases. The result of long-term release of these gases is
For the past 100 years, fossil fuels have been the cornerstone of the world energy production. Oil is the most notable fossil fuel; however, coal and natural gas are also mainstream. Since global warming is the most important environmental problem the world faces and the cause is from greenhouse gases, many look to renewable energy resources to resolve the environment and energy crisis.
Fossil fuels, including coal, oil and natural gas, are currently the world 's primary energy source. Fossil fuels have powered economic growth worldwide since the industrial revolution, but they are nonrenewable resources and can severely damage the environment. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the burning of fossil fuels was responsible for 79 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in 2010. Although efficiency can help reduce emissions produced by the burning of fossil fuels, there are better methods that rely on renewable resources to meet our global energy needs while reducing human impact on the environment. Alternative energy sources such as wind power, hydropower, nuclear generation, and biofuels have the
The first issue with fossil fuels is that they are finite resource, will not exist for ever and we need a solution for it before it is too late. They cause a lot of pollution and are the main source of CO2 in the atmosphere and other emissions. With fossil fuels come dangerous disasters in nature such as oil spills or other things that destroy the environment. Before we can solve these issues and find permanent solutions we need to find out what fossil fuels are, what a hydrocarbon is and how fossil fuels are hydrocarbons.
Fossil fuels account for almost eighty-three percent of the world 's energy. Fossil fuels, also called mineral fuels, form from the decomposition of plants and animals that died millions, sometimes even hundreds of millions, of years ago. Fossil fuels are also non-renewable - this means that when we use all of the fossil fuels, we will not have a chance to get the back or use them ever again; they are gone. By burning these fossil fuels, we produce heat and energy to fuel anything from houses and cars to boats and planes. Another distinct factor that makes fossil fuels unique is the carbon-dioxide gas that these fossil fuels emit when we burn them for energy. Many people altercate that burning fossil fuels dramatically harms the environment; others say that it has almost no effect on the environment. Even though people complain about the
In recent decades, energy needs have seen unprecedented growth. Everyone is using more electricity. Currently, around 80% of the worlds’ energy consumption is supplied by fossil fuels, which include petroleum, coal, and natural gas (“Our Energy Use in Numbers”). Generally, these resources are cheap and readily available. They are arguably one of the most stable sources of energy and release high amounts of heat upon combustion, thus giving them a high calorific value (“Fossil Fuels - IER”). Unfortunately, the environmental impacts using fossil fuels are overwhelmingly negative. For example, the 900 million tons of coal burned in the US every year release nearly a trillion tons of carbon dioxide and five million tons of various nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, leading to widespread temperature increases and acid rain (“Fossil Fuels”). Often times, extraction of these resources can destroy entire ecosystems, poisoning water supplies and leaving areas uninhabitable from landscape destruction. Oil spills can leak millions of gallons of oil, devastating aquatic life for generations to come. Furthermore, this model of energy production is not at all sustainable since fossil fuels are nonrenewable resources — most researchers estimate that by the end of the 21st century, known crude oil reserves will be completely depleted, with natural gas and coal deposits following shortly thereafter (“The End of Fossil Fuels”). This will invariably lead to rising fuel and electricity
All over the world, people have been stuck on using fossil fuels. This addiction has been ongoing for the past century as the primary source of energy. Global usage of fossil fuels which include oil, coal, and natural gas, is now producing mass amounts of greenhouse emissions within our atmosphere. Such a series of events have cascaded into changes that are currently effecting the earth on multiple levels. Several of these effects are, but are not limited to: earth’s sea levels rising every year, polar ice caps melting at an alarming rate, life threatening heat waves occurring all over various places of the world, and more impending, inevitable crisis are yet to approach. While most people have already started witnessing the horrible effects, unfortunately there are still those who continue to ignore accurately acquired scientific data that has been collected and presented. Some politicians and experts are still denying the facts about using biological fuels, or that using fossil fuels have harmful effects to the climate altogether with mostly unfounded skepticism. However, other leading nations like Brazil, have already began distancing themselves from fossil fuels to a cleaner biological fuel that is produced from sugar canes (Demain). As an industrial leader in technology, the United States should consider increasing the production and research of alternative fuels. Time is currently racing in the battle against these harmful effects that are rapidly spoiling living
First of all, they cause environmental pollution. Burning fossil fuel is considered to be the major cause in greenhouse effect. Ozone layer has been affected due to greenhouse gases increase in the atmosphere such as CO2 from power plant industry, automobile trucks and house hold. Hence, global warming and climate change has been observed to rise dramatically for past 100 years. As the global temperature increase, polar ice tends to melt and lead to raise sea level. As result, many coastal areas have been experiencing frequently devastating floods and tsunamis. If global governments don’t action sooner, some county will be over flooded and disappear from existence forever in the coming few decades. Another negative fossil fuel emission in particular from power plant is that acid rain. When carbon oxide (CO2) or Sulphur dioxide (SO2) released into the atmosphere, it reacted with the moisture contents and acid rain which destructive impact in plants and environments. Another thing is that the cost of fossil fuel is rising due to some political and social instability in oil and gas producing countries such Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and other OPEC regions. And fossil fuel is finite and limited resource, as experts predict in the next 40-50 years it will drain and finish. What is more, power plant which run by fossil fuel require a tremendous of water for cycling and cooling system, hence many fossil
