Friday Reflections Summary Essay by Oleksiy Life is complex looking on how photosynthesis occurs there is so many steps involved. This means to me that life is not easy. For life to be complex it has to have different parts in doing something. Life is complex because it has many steps involved in solving everyday life problems. During class I found out carbon dioxide and water all connect to photosynthesis to make glucose and oxygen. You need to know how atoms change in order and what they create. Not only that but you also have to know what happens when ATP goes to ADP how ATP gets its energy it’s complex to know how much you need to know for photosynthesis to finish. You need to know what gives energy during photosynthesis which is the sun this showed examples on why life is complex. The sun gives energy to ATP then ATP uses that energy to finish photosynthesis. …show more content…
This means to me that a group of protists grew overtime and it looked cool in the microscope. For life to be beautiful it needs to show different kinds of itself it needs to show different weather such as rain, or sun. Life is beautiful because there is many things in life that are kind. Ecology of protists populations showed how they grew overtime which in my opinion was beautiful because many of the protists reproduce and in a few days there was a lot of them. Another evidence to my claim that life is beautiful is the times we went to the prairie to look at plants and trees they looked good. They were different which made them even more beautiful. The movie we have watched about the sharks shows Life is beautiful because it shows how kind people can be to help out those sharks. This show how kind people can be they can save animals life just from being
In his story, “The First Day,” published in the 1990’s, Edward P. Jones discusses the story about a young girl’s first day of school. This story is about a mom who is taking her child to her first day of school, but they run into problems because the first school didn’t accept her. When they go to another school, the mother is illiterate and needs help filling out the paperwork for the new school. Although a parent may not have an education of their own, Edward P. Jones argues that a parent will do anything to make sure their child gets an education.
Complexity is in every single human beings life, whether it is while they are at school, at their job, or while dealing with their personal and family issues. The world is complex and quite difficult to live in. Many people have goals and dreams that they attempt to pursue, yet most of them always comment that life simply got in the way and they had to face reality. Though, very few amounts of the population do get the opportunity to reach their BHAG, Big Hairy Audacious Goal, and they were the ones who never stopped trying, who overturned every obstacle that came in their path or let “reality” take away all their struggles. This complexity can only be embraced if one wishes to pass through their problems, and I am no exception to the struggles
Life, it might be argued, is the distinguishing feature of all organisms and may most usefully be thought of as involving various kinds of complex systems of organization providing individual organisms with the ability to make use of those energy sources available to them for both self maintenance and reproduction. Underlying this deceptively persuasive definition, however, lie those persistent traditional problems inherent in the search for an essential, distinctive substance characteristic of all forms of life. Additionally, as evolution theory makes clear, there is the problem of borderline instances, organisms of which it is not easy to say whether or not they may be defined as being alive. One such case
In the article, “The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show”, Jason Zinser, a teacher at the University of North Florida, discusses the coverage of “fake” entertainment news. Zinser effectively argues the different benefits and disadvantages of entertaining news. When reading this article, one can find that Zinser uses emotional appeals to create a sense of intentness to his readers, uses ethical appeals to create trust from his readers, and uses logical appeals to inform readers of the difference between humorus news and undeniable news.
In Daniel Gilbert’s “Reporting Live from Tomorrow”, Gilbert makes use of statistics, studies, and experiments to convey a multitude of ideas, primarily the concept that while many people are opposed to, or are in disbelief of it, turning to surrogates as means of predicting our own future is quite effective. Gilbert’s concepts and theories are quite important to take into consideration not only as a general message of how human beings tend to let factors such as their imagination or their own self-image cloud their perspective on the future, but rather as an alternative viewpoint and how through surrogates, we are able to make more accurate predictions on our own future, such as what will be providing us happiness when
When you associate words like shameless with everyday life you don’t think of it being a television show, one may think of shameless as a negative adjective used to describe a person showing a lack of shame, but it's a comedy/drama television show that really digs deep into real life scenarios and shows how a true dysfunctional family lives in the “hood” of Chicago. Shameless details how much leadership and mental stability Fiona Gallagher has to have in order to run a family of six in her early twenties.
Complexity. Complexity theory, also known as complexity science, or complex systems, is a unifying framework to understand how parts of a system and their relationships give rise to the collective behaviors of a system, and how the system interacts and forms relationships with its environment. Complexity (as I will refer henceforth for ease), identified underlying parallels in phenomena as diverse as the rise and fall of civilizations, the human immune system, the origins of life, the evolution of species, the workings of the human brain, the onset of psychiatric illnesses, ecological systems, genetic selection, and the world economy. The application is prevalent in biology, mathematics, philosophy, medicine, neuroscience, sociology, anthropology, ecology, psychology, and philosophy, basically
People are exposed to struggles in life on a daily basis, although some individuals’ experiences are more traumatic than others’. The way people react to their challenges differs with trauma as well. In Daniel Gilbert’s Immune to Reality, Gilbert describes the psychological immune system, which is a defense mechanism of the mind. The psychological immune system is recognized as a way for the brain to find ways to deal with the harsh realities of life. Contrastingly, Martha Stout in When I Woke Up Tuesday Morning, It Was Friday focuses on dissociation, which is common in people who have experienced trauma. It is similar to Gilbert’s psychological immune system, as they are both mental systems of defense, but instead of helping an individual cope with hard times, dissociation causes complete separation of the mind from the body as an escape from reality. Dissociation from non-traumatic events is harmful to people’s psychological well-being because it makes
Introduction: Had anybody ever met an actor, or a producer, or bodyguard before? Quite frankly, at the age of thirty-six a few young African American women as myself have a pleasure to meet someone new without knowing that day will ever be on September 17th, 2012. My friend, Scott Cummings died two years later. Many people wants to know who is Scott Cummings. Cummings plays a role as Alex in film movie "The Girl" and this movie was released in Philadelphia, October 2010. However, but this one particular actor that goes by Jason who plays in horror movie "Friday the 13th, Ari Lehman play a role in this
“A redcoat soldier raised his musket, leveled it at Father, and fired” (Fast 100). April Morning is written by Howard Fast and takes place on April 17th, 1775 at the start of the revolutionary war in Lexington, Massachusetts. Moses Cooper is a major character and also the antagonist to Adam because he and Adam are always fighting and Moses doesn’t let Adam grow up. Although Moses was hard to understand, he was an affectionate, opinionated and respected man.
“Sunday in the Park” By Bel Kaufman is a story centered around bullying. The story highlights ideas like the parents’ impact on their children, a kid’s role in their parents’ life and how everyone plays their role in a family. In a family, parents should be the role models for their children, which means raising them to be a responsible and caring person. This means that parents should also make the right choices in front of their kids, showing them what’s right and what’s wrong. “Sunday in the Park” by Bel Kaufman shows how a parent’s choice will influence their child and the values a child will grow up with.
History has it that most people conform to arbitrary rules and ideas. In the past, brave heros introduced revolutions and scientific ideas that challenged laws and rules, examples that have shaped our lives. In “The Friday That Changed Everything” by Anne Hart, acting and speaking out requires courage and results in changes for everyone. For example, Miss Ralston confronts the boy’s statement that girls do not make a good addition to a softball game. Her actions were one that the girls would never do, and lead to a very impressive hit that shatters the illusion that girls cannot play ball.
For me, Machik Weekend was a great experience. By talking with many different people from all over North America and beyond, I got many different points of view on Tibetan issues and ways to make a change. Over there, I learned that there are many amazing programs that help Tibetans inside Tibet and strengthen Tibetan communities in exile. From online Tibetan mentorship programs to life-saving organizations helping Tibetan mothers and children in rural Tibet.
The article, “Black Sunday”, is about the life of a girl named Catherine who lived through the biggest dust storm in American history. The dust storm happened in April 14, 1935 in the countryside Kansas. Before the storm, Kansas was already dealing with a drought and many dusty wind; there was also the great depression which lead to many families, including Catherine’s family, to barely afford anything. Catherine saw the biggest dust storm when she was at her grandma's house, she thought it would be the end of the world. Scientist believe the reason of why a huge dust storm was created was because of all the farmers taking the grass off the fields, after this incident people in that area amv found a different and more environmental way to farm.
Before the 1870’s, the week end was just that. Week end. The week end was Saturday night, not Sunday. Sunday was considered the first day of the week, not the week end, week-end or weekend. It was not for work or fun, it was for worship, a day of rest. Now It’s “week days and weekend”, as Rybczynski points out in Waiting for the Weekend (35). We call the first day of the week, Monday, but it is in fact, Sunday.
