I found many perspectives that this group obtains. In using a functionalist perspective, we see how the groups use moral regulations and also their religious faith to teach an ideology and propagandize their people under them. This small group in sociality works and is trying to grow large and ISIS is doing just that through population growth. ISIS continues to recruit in many ways. Many people in this group have roles. Everyone becomes dependent on one another for their continued well being. People have become specialized which forces mutual interdependent, this interdependence makes sure the the community will not fall apart.
It aims to replace existing, man-made borders, to overcome what it sees as the Shiite "crescent" that has emerged across the Middle East, to take its war Islam's war to Europe and America, and ultimately to lead Muslims toward an apocalyptic battle against the "disbelievers."Its propaganda relies on a very distinct interpretation of the Quran and other religious texts to promote these goals. In my opinion Isis is a bunch of cowards. They use facebook to hack accounts and recruit people. Isis has started a war they know they cannot win with power, so instead of power they use their influence and America's open borders to attack from the inside. In an interview with Sue Fisher I asked her opinion on Isis she responded with “They are murderers who do it in the name of religion.” I agreed, and asked her if she thinks they will succeed with their plans. Sue responded with “No they will not.” Additionally I asked if they’re worse than Al-Qaeda and she responded” Al-Qaeda and Isis are equally horrifying in what they have done.” The last question I asked is if Donald Trump was right with the bombing of Syria. Sue responded with “Donald Trump's decision was the right
They know that most of muslims do not accept their ideology so they use social media to brainwash young muslims and new converts to join them. ISIS preys on vulnerable and disillusioned western youth from economically disadvantaged families that many of them had criminal background. They rarely go to mosque to recruit. These young people want to become hero. There are many in ISIS territory that chose to join ISIS to put food on table for their family. They see no other way out. Either they have to die of hunger or fight ISIS and get killed.
ISIS is a Sunni-militant group that is led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a skilled military leader who is responsible for thousands of deaths and who was once captured by the US military in 2005. However, he was released by the Iraqi government. It is believed that ISIS has over ten thousand members, with three thousand of them being
ISIS is a mysterious but well publicized group of people, that mainly covers the Middle East with force. The Islamic State is unknown and yet to be discovered by the United States government. People across Europe are joining ISIS, many are regular citizens around the world, but some become psychopaths and cause ISIS to control places with supreme radical tactics. The group is becoming more powerful and modernized as time goes on. This is leading up to a world wide crisis based on what ISIS really is and what they want. Throughout the article What ISIS Really Wants, Graeme Woods shows that ISIS is a very dominant/threatening group, and wants to be known.
ISIS which is also known by other names such as ISIL or the Islamic State, arised around 1999 in Iraq as a group of extreme Sunni Muslim Jihadists. Extreme jihadism is the practice of extremely agressive interpretations of the Jihad and of Islamic fundamentalism. Though every muslim somewhat follows their own Jihad , this group has taken it to another level both believing it is right to kill and behead in the name of god. After Americas invasion of Iraq was over , and with the neighboring civil war in Syria , the brutal group has been able to gain alot of power in the past couple years and seems to be gaining even more now.
Isis uses many ideologies to deceive and recruit others (Sieczkowsk). ISIS uses these false facts to appear larger and stronger than they are. They use false information such as being the most powerful militant group in the world or lying about how much money they have and use (Withnall, Romero). They use false facts to trick/sway people’s minds. ISIS is also known for teaching false Islam. Any “real” Muslim man or woman, will disagree with anything ISIS tries to preach to their followers (Sieczkowsk). ISIS’s leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi has essentially made his own religion but has called it Islam. They use psychological tricks like this to teach people converting to Islam a false version of Islam. Doing this can lead to others believing/doing
First ISIS has set out to “purify” Islam and expel of those who they sees as the non believers. This purification process includes the prosecution of both muslims and non muslims.“[ISIS] has already shown extreme cruelty toward Shiites -- most notably slaughtering more than 1,500 Iraqi air force cadets in Tikrit in June 2014” (Lister). More widely known about however is the persecution of non muslims and citizens of western countries who ISIS brutally and publicly executes for the world to see. In addition ISIS seeks to expand its sphere of influence to a global level though the gaining of territory. “Territorial authority is a requirement” for isis as it gives them legitimacy and power that is visibly noticeable to the rest of the world (Lister). ISIS is establishing and “consolidate control over its holdings in Iraq and Syria, to demonstrate it can run a state with large towns and cities” (Lister). Another main goal of ISIS is to establish a global caliphate. A global caliphate is the concept of a worldwide totalitarian dictatorship lead by one person. ISIS sees this one person as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and thus his followers seek to prop him up and empower him.The caliphate “is the launching pad for a global battlefield” who seeks to carry out offensive Jihad in an effort to expand its power to a global level
ISIS has promotional videos, a sense of belonging and security, and it appealing to individuals, especially those who have less social and community links. The United States of America used to be referred to as the “Melting Pot”. Since it was developed by European travelers, it focused on monitoring immigration and encouraging assimilation. Being American does not have a certain look, religion, or even language, but it assimilates cultures and immigrants to become an “American.” However, individuals have an innate sense of belonging that must be met. And when American individuals feel unwelcome, ostracized and even persecuted, they will look for belonging elsewhere. Being an immigrant in America is now a challenge. Instead of controlling the amount of immigrants, the United States has become unwelcome to many people, even turning Syrian Christian families away after they enter US airports. Illegal Mexicans may have been paying taxes and working hard, but they now face deportation more than ever. Exclusion creates isolation, isolation creates a need to look elsewhere for belonging, looking elsewhere can lead to hard feelings toward America and even anti-American beliefs. Those individuals who do not have community ties are more likely to accept invitations from ISIS and adopt their views. This takes an effort from the whole nation to accept people based on their character and not their ethnicity, and it can start
They do all of this in the name of Allah - their god- and to gain power, however their objectives and ultimate goal is unclear to the western world. In a recent SKYPE interview conducted by Vice.com, Canadian ISIS member Farah Mohamed Shirdon gave mixed messages about the intent of ISIS. At one point, Shirdon claimed that the group wished to be left alone, stating that he didn’t want to fight, nor did his group. He further stated that the group wishes to enable Muslims to live under their own laws and authority and that they view western interference as a threat (Shirdon, 2014). However, Shirdon went on to state that he hoped to be made a martyr by dying in conflict for Allah and that ISIS would not stop until their flag was flying over the White House (Shirdon, 2014). Shirdon also made direct threats against western civilization, stating they were coming for “us” and that “a lot of brothers are mobilizing there right now in the West…mobilizing for a brilliant attack…” on the West (Shirdon, 2014). This could lead one to believe that the group is actually looking at expanding its power beyond its stated limitations. What is unclear from media reports is whether ISIS is seeking to gain more power to allow its individual’s greater opportunities to improve their individual circumstances, or whether the group is seeking world domination for their group and Allah.
Some people say that ISIS is the successor to the group that was known as al-Qaeda in Iraq and was so brutal in its methods that it drove Sunni tribes, with help and financial incentives from the U.S. military group, to turn in 2006. This group formed/ grew out of al-Qaeda (AQI) but has been disavowed by al-Qaeda ever since. ISIS officially formed April of 2013 and has
ISIS is a terrorist group located in the middle east, mostly stationed in Iraq. The group gained popularity in 2013, when the terrorist group Al Qaeda starting becoming less popular. ISIS has put many bomb and terrorist attacks on multiple countries including the USA. They are such a big threat because they have so many men and the United States has no way of figuring out all of the members. The United States has been trying to shut them down ever since, but have been unsuccessful.
People wonder why many west people would join ISIS the enemy of their nations. To answer how ISIS recruits, Allessandria Masi article claims that ISIS recruits in the west through social media. News articles claim have headcounts from U.K., Canada, and the U.S. They are working hard to catch and stop these recruitment strategies. The people who have been caught and analyzed trying to join the radical group have been declaring to join because they believe "Allah", the Islam god wants them too. Also according to an article called "ISIS recruiting Westeners" other reasons that have been found repeat among people include; [parental issues, are Teenagers, [pressure], and because of the popularity among peers. ] With ISIS recruiting daily and obtaining resources it has been able to make tragic attacks, including i big one on Paris. This was recent and riled up France and other countries. The event was tragic, was seen as act of war, and caused many people to open their eyes to the dangers and ruthlessness of ISIS. "Friday the 13 of November by gunmen and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants, and bars almost simultaneously - and left 130 people dead and hundreds wounded," says BBC news, and an article by Andrew Soergal, an Economy Reporter says, [ISIS gets its money through Tax, seized Oil Refineries, Stolen artifacts sold on the black market, criminal enterprise, taking over banks, (nonrenewable resources), burglary, and donations from private supporters from all around the world.] Also in his article he includes that eventually all of ISIS' non renewable resources will run out and they will go bankrupt, but he also concludes that we can not wait this long. ISIS is a threat that can't be taken lightly. The information I have provided could be useful in the near
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as ISIS, is a Sunni militant group, and also the most barbaric and violent terrorist group ever to exist. ISIS is also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL). This group has quickly advanced and seized its territory in Iraq and Syria. They can be found in many nations such as Syria, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, and Algeria. They are ruthless and savage-like; beheading, cutting off hands, and murdering many, many people as if it was their daily ritual.
The origins of ISIS can be traced back to a United States military prison camp known as Camp Bucca in Iraq (Ward). Twelve of the top leaders of ISIS served time in this camp including the man who would later become the leader, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (Ward). US officials who were working at the camp feared the prisoners were becoming radicalized (Ward). The prison camp was described as a “pressure cooker for extremism” (Ward). It was in this camp that a powerful alliance was formed between Islamic extremists Ba’athists loyal to Saddam Hussein
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) came to power a decade ago as a small terrorist threat that grew out of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda. When the United States began to pull its troops in the Middle East, Iraq leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, took advantage of the unstable government and reinvigorated ISIS. In just this past year, ISIS has shown us that it is more powerful than Al Qaeda by conquering oil fields and territory in Iraq and Syria with the hopes of creating a caliphate- an Islamic state. ISIS uses violence to take control of Middle Eastern territory from non-Muslims, Americans, Westerners, and non-Sunni Muslims.
