In each of the assignments in this course, you will be dealing with the following scenario: American Intellectual Union (AIU) has assembled a team of researchers in the United States and around the world to study job satisfaction. Congratulations, you have been selected to participate in this massive global undertaking.
The study will require that you examine data, analyze the results, and share the results with groups of other researchers. Job satisfaction is important to companies large and small, and understanding it provides managers with insights into human behavior that can be used to strengthen the company's bottom line.
The data set for the study is a sample of a survey conducted on the population of the American Intellectual

Some measures are appropriate for qualitative data, and some are appropriate for quantitative data. If a measure is not applicable, then explain why. You will have to also provide one chart/graph for each of the results of the two processed sections of data (2 total), such as a pie or bar chart or a histogram. (A table is not a chart/graph.) Ensure that you label the chart/graph clearly. You will then need to discuss what you additionally learned from the results of this process. Explain why charts/graphs are important in conveying information in a visual format and why standard deviation and variation are important.
You will need to combine all of the items above into one comprehensive report. This report must be completed in Microsoft Word and should contain:
This assignment will be assessed using the rubric provided here.

Due to financial hardship, the Nyke shoe company feels they only need to make one size of shoes, regardless of gender or height. They have collected data on gender, shoe size, and height and have asked you to tell them if they can change their business model to include only one size of shoes – regardless of height or gender of the wearer. In no more 5-10 pages (including figures), explain your recommendations, using statistical evidence to support your findings. The data found are below:
(1) A study of the number of cars sold looked at the number of cars sold at 500
Some questions in Part A require that you access data from Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics. This data is available on the student website under the Student Test Resources link.
Refer as needed to the material in Chapters 12 and 13 of the textbook. Keep the following tips in mind as you research data, as well as organize, analyze, interpret, and illustrate these data:
Your report should be approximately 1000 words and that includes graphics as tables and charts to illustrate the information collected and analyses. Your report must be written in clear and concise English so as to be readable by diverse groups.
I would use a bar graph because it would be easy to follow and understand the information presented.
You are all interested in something. Explore the literature (magazines, books, web sites, etc) for your interest area and find an example of the use of graphical statistics. I suggest a Google search using the Images option, and select some interesting and visual display of data. Identify the related materials that support the graphic and containing some form of statistical analysis and/or display. Review your materials using the framework offered below.
2. Beatriz is creating graphs for her city’s Parks Department. Beatriz is trying to persuade the Parks Department to put in more gazebos for shade. For a local park, Beatriz wants to demonstrate the attendance as it changes every week. She also wants to show the temperature changes per month. Sometimes temperatures reach below zero. Explain to Beatriz how to make the graphs correctly based on the data that she will collect and what labels, scales, and intervals each axis must have on each graph. Use complete sentences and support your reasoning. Feel free to generate sample data to help support your response.
Organizations that are serious about making improvements are going to have to deal with the issue of job satisfaction. Job satisfaction can be best described as the positive feeling that an individual has about their job resulting from an evaluation of the job’s characteristics (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p.31). It would seem natural to think that job satisfaction would have a positive correlation with successful organizations. What impact does job satisfaction have on an organization? Research will show that there are not only internal effects from performance related issues, but also external effects that impact customer satisfaction.
A pharmaceutical company is testing the effectiveness of a new drug for lowering cholesterol. As part of this trial, they wish to determine whether there is a difference between the effectiveness for women and for men. Using = .05, what is the value the test statistic?
Q7: Create a bar graph or pie chart of the data you have collected. For example, you could create a bar graph that shows the employee turnover rate in organizations that do offer flexible work arrangement compared to organizations that do not. Alternately, you could create a pie chart that shows which types of flexible work arrangement workers want the most.
9. Use Excel to calculate averages for data analysing. Also, use Excel to calculate the standard deviation to show variances in data
Job satisfaction is a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job or job experiences. It has been treated both as a general attitude and satisfaction with five specific dimensions of the job: pay, the work itself, promotion opportunities, supervision, and coworkers. Challenging work, valued rewards, opportunities for advancement, competent supervision, and supportive coworkers are dimensions of the job that can lead to satisfaction (Nelson & Quick, 2013, pg.
Job satisfaction is the very important factor in general quality of life because it is closely connected with working life (e.g. Argyle, 1989; Bang & Lee, 2006), with family life, everyday life, and mental health (Orpen, 1978; Schmitt and Bedeian, 1982; Faragher, Cass & Cooper, 2005). Level of job satisfaction is also highly related to turnover, absenteeism rate, work productivity or accomplishment (Muchinsky, 1977; Organ, 1977). Many researchers (e.g. Cherrington, 1994; Acorn, Ratner & Crawford, 1997; Ostroff, 1992; Spector, 1997) state that employees who experience high job satisfaction contribute to organisational commitment, job involvement, their physical, mental health and overall well-being are improved.
