Tooth Extraction in [GEOID]
Teeth are designed to last for the duration of your life, but sometimes it becomes necessary to remove one or more due to disease or trauma. When your dentist pulls a tooth, the procedure is called a dental extraction.
Why Do People Need Teeth Extractions?
Having a tooth pulled is not something anyone wants to experience, but severe infection of a tooth’s pulp or extensive gum disease that loosens teeth can make dental extraction necessary. Tooth removal may also be needed if you have a weak immune system and can’t fight off a dental infection. If you need to have an organ transplant, it may be necessary to remove diseased teeth beforehand. Healthy teeth are sometimes pulled during orthodontic treatment to
In the past, teeth with diseased nerves had to be removed. Now, there is an alternative to tooth removal — root canal therapy! Root canals allow a diseased tooth to be saved. In most cases, the root canal procedure is simple, involves little to no pain, and takes between one and three visits to one of our dental practices in Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh, NC.
The teeth are one of the most important feature of our body. We use teeth to grind and chew food every day. Teeth make us look fabulous when we smile at the camera. Could you imagine if people have lost there teeth, how are they going to look and how can they chew food? This was the reason I went to dental assisting school and become a registered dental assistant.
The Dental Lifeline Network provides oral care for people with limited financial income. DLN strives to change lives of countless people who lack access to dental care. The mission of the project I was working on is to find new ways to recruit new patients and volunteers. During my internship, I was focusing on Rhode Island, Texas, Illinois, and Iowa. I start researching and helping the DOS find the best ways to recruit new patient. For Rhode Island, I start researching and finding school nurses and agencies that works with youth or low income families and created spreadsheet to keep track of their contact information. I also created flyers and emailed the 30 school nurses and 8 agencies. Since the Rhode Island DOS program has a number of volunteer dentists waiting for a DOS patient, I emailed 21 dentists to remind them about the DOS program and ask if they can refer patients that will be eligible for the DOS program.
There are several reasons a cosmetic dentist may recommend that you get your wisdom teeth removed. If the wisdom teeth are impacted or infected, then the dentist may opt to remove them. Tooth extractions may also be recommended if the teeth are affecting one's ability to chew.
In a way, a root canal is a dental procedure similar to cutting off a limb in a zombie movie. The dentist removes the infection from the inside of the tooth to keep it from infecting the rest of your body and eventually killing you. However, in this instance, you actually get to keep your dead tooth.
There are several procedures that can be performed in a dental office. The one that will make a patient weak at the knees is an extraction. A patient may think this procedure is gruesome and scary. However, an extraction is easy, magical, and interesting for me.
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt. There are usually four wisdom teeth – two on top and two on the bottom. They rarely come in normally, and most often need to be removed. Wisdom tooth pain is a common symptom of these teeth trying to erupt.
Wisdom teeth removal can stop gum disease before it starts. Wisdom teeth usually struggle to find space inside the mouth, coming in crooked or only making it partway out of the gums. This odd positioning makes it almost impossible to keep the teeth clean, so they are more likely to hold decaying food and harbor bacteria. This can result in gum disease, which causes sore and bleeding gums as well as pain. If the condition gets bad enough, bacteria finds its way into the jawbone where it eats away at the tissue, ultimately loosening teeth. As a result, you could lose your wisdom teeth and the teeth next to them.
I put the article The Tooth Divide: Beauty, Class and the Story of Dentistry into the online readability formula to find out what the general audience this article was trying to reach. Since this is an article related to dentistry I expect that the article will be a bit difficult for most people to read. After submitting the article into the online website I learned that most places consider this to be a hard read but two places think that people in high school could easily read and understand this article. I am going to choose to believe that this article is meant for an audience of undergraduate college students. This article is not an article that many people in high school would be interested in because it discusses a little bit of the
A removal of an impacted tooth, however, will cost you more because of the complexity of the procedure done. It can cost from $225 to $600 each tooth. This price does not include the additional cost you have to spend on x-rays, anesthesia and any other required services. If you choose to use a general anesthetic agent, you can add up another hefty $250 to $800 in your tooth’s price tag.
Dental procedures can be expensive, and it’s a possibility that you do not have the cash to fix your tooth in the most ideal way. If money is tight, you can always have the tooth completely extracted. Expect to pay around $175 for a basic tooth extraction.
All countries and cultures have their own ideology or standards of what makes a person beautiful. In a National Geographic video entitled, “Teeth Chiseling” an Indonesian tribe believes that a woman will be able to obtain more beauty if her teeth are chiseled into sharp points. Although this body modification may appear to be extreme, it is important to understand the philosophy that has allowed this tradition to manifest and endure over the years. The Indonesian tribe believes that if a soul is not pleased with the body, it inhabits, the spirit will leave causing the person to die (NG). As a result, in order to prevent the spirit from leaving, people of the tribe will usually endure several body modifications. Although, teeth chiseling appears
When a tooth is extracted, the space left in your gums is referred to as a socket. Blood will fill the socket and create a clot, which is what helps the socket heal. In some situations, the clot can become dislodged and cause you excruciating pain. A dry socket is also prone to getting an infection.
But in other cases we know we need to see a dentist soon. Sometimes decay reaches a point where the pain is intense, and we need relief. In other cases, the tooth
