The Communist Party of China acted as a political group that believed in solely controlling all aspects of life for millions of Chinese residents. Jiang Qing, the wife of Chairman Mao, and three others, exploited the purpose of equality between classes to push China in the direction they always imagined; Jiang Qing, Zhang Chunqiao, Yao Wenyuan, and Wang Hongwen joined together to form the illustrious Gang of Four. (Zang [84]). As Chairman Mao’s health began to decline during later part of the Cultural Revolution, the opportunity for the Gang of Four to seize control of the People’s Republic of China emerged; the Gang of Four ruled with an increasingly tighter grasp on Chinese culture than Chairman Mao had before.
