Gangsta rap pioneer Dr. Dre aka Andre Romelle Young was born on February 18, 1965. He grew up in Compton, raised mostly by his mother (after his parents split up).
They moved around frequently, and finally settled in the Compton area. At Centennial High School, Dre showed lots of talent for drafting, but he paid very little attention to his other course work. He transferred to Fremont High School and then went to the Chester High School. He had very less interest in schoolwork, he wanted to make music. Dre then got a music mixer for Christmas in 1984 and soon turned his home into his studio.

Several years later Dre started working with Eminem and 50 Cent. Dre produced some of Eminem hits such as “The Slim Shady” and “The Marshall Mathers”. He also helped 50 Cent release “Get Rich” and “21 Questions” in 2003.
In 2008, Dre created Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones with producer Jimmy Iovine. They became so popular were even other hip-hop artists started to use them. The two partners made a deal with apple in May 2014 with Apple to sell the Beats for $3 billion. The deal increased so much that Dre's pay became $800 million a year (which is $20 per second), making him the richest rap star ever. In August 2015, Dre released the movie “Straight Outta Compton” which included his third album.
Dre is now a father in high school. He meet his first son, Curtis, until he was 20 years old. Dre also had a son Marcel when he was in a relationship with singer Michelle, that worked with him when he was in the World Class Wreckin' Cru. In late 1980s, he had another son Andre R. I appreciate him because he stands out for all African Americans and says that “they are the strongest hard working people in the world”. He is a fun loving guy that will keep a smile on your face.
