You are judged before you are born
Throughout human history groups of people, social hierarchies, religious ideologies, cultural
characteristics, sexual identities, physical differences, economic provesness, political alliances, and even
geographical locality have made every man, woman and child predisposed to being judged prior to
being born. However, even with these preexisting bigoteries within ourselves, us being human we must
add a new twist as our sciences advances us forward to where we can improve upon the genetic quality
of the human population (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics) and mathematically predict to change
your lifespan, your IQ, your health, your mental capacity, pigmented skin color, to the color of your

Let me take you into such a world as only a film
like Gattaca can, than at which point we may come to realize what makes this film cinematic.
Gattaca (1997) is directed by Andrew Niccol and it stars Ethan Hawke (Vincent/Jerome), Uma
Thurman (Irene), Jude Law (Eugene/Jerome) and many more supporting actors. The film presents us

This restrictive attimes first person narrative and sometimes an omniscient narrative structure
from the camera gives us in a linear method the development of the story and the character changes of
our protagonist from an young childhood through to his success as an adult. The film used round
characters such as that of the Vincent, Eugene, and Irene. In contrast the film utilized flat characters of
that of parent, Antoine, the older detective, the director and the Urologist. The diegetic elements of the
film were the camera angles such as close ups and editing, , motifs, the lighting was one such where
almost every scene was yellow as if the sun was setting, the single piece of hair, the blood and urine.
The music score highlighting drama and action sequences were nondiegetic. The suspense of detectives

the equilibrium in Vincent in the beginning where he is in astronaut training ready for flight, we find his

On the last years, genetic technology have been improving. The research carried out in this area are focused on the early diagnosis of diseases. Moreover, manipulation of genes in the future provides a critical tool for eliminating fatal diseases to humans. Also humans will be able to manipulate genes from birth. But the real question is although can be perform it, we allow it? Everything possible is ethically permissible? Some dramatic demonstrations of genetic modification have been made with mice and other animals, however, evidence in humans are generally considered outside the ethical boundaries. Gregory Stock, director of the Program on Medicine, Technology, and Society at UCLA and author of Redesigning Humans, in his article “Choosing Our Genes” (2012) argues the use of technology to change humans genetic in order to avoid imperfections or diseases. Stock shows genetic engineering as a very useful technology and that applying it on the future to humans, positive results they will gain. Stocks article is effective, since he gives good reasons why using genetic technology would provide several benefits that people wish to have.
185). The conflict arises when his persona undergoes a change and loses its strength since he becomes an immigrant in a country that does not value him as much as he expects. At this point, other three parts of his psyche starts to reveal his unrevealed emotions such as fear, violence and depression.
In the early 1900’s silent films amazed audiences with images, later talkies impressed with sound, today we have 3D. As technology continues to evolve so too will film genres. Genres, while having some shared characteristics, also differ in terms of stylistic devices used. For instance, the dramatic film “The Notebook” effectively uses color to reinforce theme and has plausible performers as the two main protagonists.
The art of storytelling is a primary foundation for human communication and understanding. Whether it is through myths — Greek, Roman, Egyptian, you pick — or wives tales or even Grandpa telling his old war stories, stories have power. Through technological advancements in the last 150+ years, there are multiple mediums to tell stories; film being the most potent medium used. Film has the power to not only entertain but enlighten too. Filmmakers have the ability to challenge and manipulate the power of the story through creative resistance; by exploring other elements of storytelling: location, voice, color, angles, rhythm, language, filmmakers can create dramatically different films out of the same story.
the points that are trying to be elaborated on coincide with the camera and the way
As a result, the movie adds further detail, which allows the viewer to understand the plot and the characters even better. For instance, in the movie, the setting goes around to different places, such as The Green Hat, The Hair Salon,
Being pre judged can vary to what people have heard of somebody, whether it be true or not, to people’s religious beliefs, sexual association, who they hang out with, where they come from, what color they are, all sorts of things. Some people get this idea that because of this, this means that. For example, if somebody is know for being a strong Christian some people may think that they are no fun, boring, and hypocritical. People can think these things before they’ve even met the person. That is not what I meant at all. No that is not it, at all. Sometimes we may think this to ourselves, because just because this may be true does not mean that may be true. People draw
Behind every great movie, comes a storyline that is derived from a book however, most of the books to the movies have a great number of deviations. The screenwriters and other staff members to include the director come up with these deviations to enhance the plot in the attempt to make it a more interesting film to which in turn can make a better profit. The majority of differences that is found in films main objective is to enhance the mind. For example, when a scene has the ability to get a particular feeling out of a viewer, it is imperative to be able to understand the reasons for those feelings. The dialog and the visual effects of a scene sets a tone that differs from that of the book that it was taken from. Also, screen writers and
Within the last 100 years or so scientists have many valuable discoveries that have benefited mankind. These discoveries include the discovery of genes. Scientists have discovered what makes humans so unique from one another. However, with this newly gained knowledge of the function of genes comes the ability to alter or change them. Just imagine in the not so near future, you and your partner want to start a family together. You travel to your local gene councillor to pick the physical and characteristic traits of your child. That’s right. With the knowledge that has been gained about genes, scientists can “create” the perfect child genetically. The thought is scary. Nature has always taken us down the right path but are we really ready
I feel as if the director wanted to make the reality and sterile life of Gattaca by having yellow toned more homely scenes in between. This worked well because it brought in a dramatic change in life, the first line in the film says that the film is set soon. Saying this can cause the audience to think of their lives and how much technology is changing around them, the flashback was when things started changing in the Gattaca
Since Charles Darwin raised the concept of natural selection, all generations have been enlightened with the idea of the “preservation of favorable variations and the rejection of injurious variations […] useful in some ways to each being in the great and complex battle of life.” (Darwin, 1). However, only the most recent generations have heard about something called genetic modification that in some cases we don’t understand, but whose effects have been increased in our daily life.
Others are one-line character descriptions: a mechanic for a crime syndicate looks so much like a mouse that he must carry a metal guard for his enormous rodent ears when he visits the barber, a pair of gangsters are identical giant black rectangles so indistinguishable that they occasionally merge into each other, and the waiter is obsequious to the point that his body is in a permanent curl, so desperate to please favored clients that he’s unable to stand up straight.
How are the four elements of film style (cinematography, sound, mise-en-scene, editing) used in the film to create realism.
In the past three decades, scientists have learned how to mix and match characteristics among unrelated creatures by moving genes from one creature to another. This is called “genetic engineering.” Genetic Engineering is prematurely applied to food production. There are estimates that food output must increase by 60 percent over the next 25 years to keep up with demand. Thus, the result of scientist genetically altering plants for more consumption. The two most common methods for gene transfer are biological and electromechanical. “Early experiments all involved changing DNA using bacterial vectors”(Randerson, 2001). Through other advances scientists proclaim how they can improve the human gene pool. All humans have
