When a couple is expecting a child, they are anxious to know whether the unborn baby is a girl or a boy. However, they do not realize that their child can feel different about himself or herself while growing up. The child's sex is either a male or female of course, but when the child starts puberty, that is when he or she starts to realize that they behave as the opposite of what their sex is because that is how they feel in the inside of their mind. That would be considered their gender because the term means the behavior and attitude of how that person is seen in society according to their masculinity and femininity. Therefore, in society or even in our own culture, people learn and experience other people's attitudes that can make them wonder if they feel comfortable with who they are. In society there are also gender roles that we are taught to follow when we are born. The way gender roles relate to my personal life is that in my household I was brought up with the idea that we, the women, are meant to clean the house and cook, while the man of the house only works outside of the house. The reason it is this way is because men are the ones that are known to be hard workers who need to support the family financially and believe that the women's role is to take care of the children. Gender roles in my life have been like that most of the time, but it has changed along the way because my dad had already began helping with the housework. This change in my family had surely changed the gender roles because it is not fair that for being just a woman we have to do the household tasks without the help of a man.
