Looking at a child’s personal characteristics, demographics, and genealogy in order to predict how susceptible he/she is important research. With this information, we as a society can help those that are more likely to become criminals at an early age. The use of technology can streamline this data and help us predict criminal behavior quicker and more accurately. As defined by Haag, S., & Cummings, M. (2013), “a neural network is an artificial intelligence system that is capable of finding and differentiating patterns”. Neural networks can be applied in this situation to identify, classify, and predict the susceptibility of becoming a criminal.
A neural network’s accuracy depends on the data provided to the network. In this case, in order

Although genealogy is important it is also trickier to predict something as severe as criminal behavior. The fact that a kid is left vs right handed or has blue eyes vs brown eyes, does not accurately predict criminal behavior. But other inherited characteristics could contribute. For example, children predisposed to inheriting a learning disability should be recognized by the neural network. As stated above, education is a key demographic and if a child has a hard time learning, then they may be at risk of committing crime. Again, these characteristics are a lot more difficult to account for and should only be part of the neural network to improve accuracy of results.
In conclusion, neural networks in this situation can be used to identify, classify, and predict the susceptibility of a child becoming a criminal. However, the results and accuracy of the prediction are only as good as the data provided to the network. In order for a neural network to help predict criminal tendencies of a child, it must include personal characteristics, demographics, and genealogy. With this information, we as a society can help those that are more likely to become criminals at an early age and reverse the trend of crime in the
First, we should begin with the investigation into an individual’s background because this is what seems to lead us to the question of whether or not this person possesses a gene that can ultimately be responsible for their criminal
Introduction Identifying the main reason behind the crimes committed by youths in the current world is difficult because of the socialization complexity and social mechanisms that surround the presented cases. Nevertheless, there are many reason why juveniles engage in delinquent behaviors. Some reasons can be but are not limited to one’s environment which includes family institutions, friends, schools, and social systems that may put them at-risk. Personality traits also play a critical role for antisocial behaviors, which have been known to be linked with delinquent behaviors. Despite these many factors, the punitive model of juvenile justice has been embraced in order to hold juveniles more accountable for their criminal acts and to introduce a level of punishment into juvenile justice (Taylor & Fintsch, 2015).
The primary risk factors for criminal behavior majorly come into play in the early years of a person’s life.
The field of criminal justice has spent a great deal of time and energy trying to understand the reasons behind criminal behavior. Various theoretical representations explain the correlation between variables and consequences. Researchers have determined that there is no distinct course to delinquency and mention that the existence of numerous risk factors often strengthens an adolescent’s chance of committing a crime. Studies also aim to the interaction of different risk factors, the effect of when multiple risk factors are present, and in what way specific protective factors may work to counteract risk factors (Shader, 2003).
The article written on Juvenile Risk Assessment allows court systems to track juveniles who are most likely to reoffend and help who need intervention. Tracking juvenile arrests and trends are usually found using court records and various law enforcement agencies. This information released to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting where the information is compiled and data is released. This data will show how many arrested were made in that year, along with the states and the crimes that were committed. Tracking juvenile crimes and trends are essential to making new policy or revising old policies. Local communities and state governments rely on this data tackle juvenile crime.
This paper states how criminals were either born, mentally ill and/or intoxicated, or had some social force that pushes an individual into a crime becoming a criminal. The degree to criminal behavior could be one or more reasons. Additionally, the knowledge of the biological theory is to highlight its value on a complicated issue that demands attention to detail and a minded method that is willing to account for criminal behavior at all
In today's society, one will find that there are many different factors that go into the development of a criminal mind, and it is impossible to single out one particular cause of criminal behavior. Criminal behavior often stems from both biological and environmental factors. In many cases criminals share similar physical traits which the general population do not usually have. For example criminals have smaller brains than properly adjusted individuals. However biological reasons cannot solely be the cause of criminal behavior. Therefore, one must look to other sources as to how a criminal mind is developed. Social and environmental factors also are at fault for developing
Most of the paper will include theorist perspectives on developmental trajectories associated with an early age of onset and continuation of crime (antisocial behavior, an environment, biology, etc.). Theorist claims are that teenagers are prone to risky behaviors and deviant acts. The typical starting point for criminal behavior is around 14 through 17 years of age. Anti-social behaviors diminish (limited to youthful misadventures) before the child reaches age 20 provided there are no problems to prevent this change (Wright, Tibbetts & Daigle, 2008). Children under years 10 do not usually present with criminal behavior, even if they show propensity throughout this developmental phase although they may
Crime is hardly ever one dimensional. Many theories exist to explain causes of crime and those who commit said acts. It appears that two major factors driving criminal behavior are genetics and environmental. This argument stems from a nature versus nature approach. A natural approach would suggest that individuals have predispositions to crime due to some genetic factors whereas a nurture approach suggests that environmental factors cause individuals to engage in delinquent or criminal behavior. Although research exists to support both claims, further research lends itself to the idea that crime stems from environmental factors rather than genetics. When considering the study about twins and criminal behavior, it noted that one of the best predictors of anti-social behavior as it relates to crime was the criminal arrest records of the fathers (Mednick, Brennan, Kandel, 1988). Equally important, these findings cannot be conclusive as a genetic influence because the father plays a key role in the child’s life on a social level (Mednick, Brennan, Kandel, 1988). In other words, many factors must account for a child’s upbringing. Uniquely, the purpose of the twin’s study was to assess twins who were identical to twins who were not identical to determine how genetic factors fit into criminal behavior. Additionally, some have argued the legitimacy of the study surrounding genetics due to twins growing up in the same environment. For example, one would have to assume that if twins
Also family studies have biological factors proven to have an impact on criminality through family studies, twin studies, adoption studies, molecular genetic studies, and brain research and imaging. Psychological Theories states also that the individual factors and temperamental traits, such as low impulse control, intelligence, and learned values and morals, differentiate delinquents from non-delinquents. A person can be influences by the things that is known to be done within their families but not only is that bad for the people that come up with rough family backgrounds but it also can be turned into something positive to learn no right from wrong when making choices and without the proper leadership most with a rough family history will make the known mistake to choose the wrong way of thinking and I personally think that this is the problem in today’s generation growing
The assumptions and conclusions in criminal profiling lead to mistakes during the identification process of the offender of the crime. The majority of criminal profiling techniques are grounded on classical trait theory of human beings which assumes that determining the criminal behavior factor is through underlying dispositions with offenders who influence them to behave in that way (Abumere, 2012). The approaches assume that burglars will display same attributes in other aspects of their lives same way in committing

Children are a precious gift that many people are blessed with. Unfortunately, many children are thrown into environments and situations that no one should ever be faced with. Children are often born into families of crime or live in a criminal environment. The question that everyone is wondering, does genetics play a role in a criminal behaviors and actions or does an environmental factor play a role in criminal behaviors. The big debate of nature versus nurture will be discussed.
We can see that when it comes to young offenders such as juveniles and young adults that there are a more substantial number of criminal offenders and victims that have been connected to these groups by criminology research (Paynich, & Hill, 2014). As we have studied over the past three week’s we can see that there are some different theories that attempt to connect criminal behavior and victimization to various sources such as environment, social influences, and familial elements. There is a connection between those that commit criminal offenses and their age, who they are hanging ours with, and what they are doing in their lives (Townsley, Birks, Ruiter, Bernasco, & White, 2016). When juveniles are in an environment that is conducive of criminal behavior, we will see that they will have been in a social environment or family environment that usually has shown anti-social behavior that will give influence on the juvenile in question (Townsley, Birks, Ruiter, Bernasco, & White, 2016). There can also be a connection of criminal behavior from juveniles that are related to their everyday environment that can lead to
Assumptions about the heritability of juvenile crime are one of the illogical conclusions drawn from the general belief about family links to crime. There have been many critiques of the limitations of behavioral genetics particularly in regard to crime yet despite the social, psychological and environmental confounds in their studies some authors still choose to argue a genetic explanation (Kakar, 2005; Tuvblad, Grann & Lichtenstein, 2006). It was argued that behavioral genetic methods are necessary to move research on antisocial behavior beyond the identification of risk factors to the establishment of causality. Theorists adopting this approach are willing to admit that perhaps 50% to 60% of the variance in antisocial behavior may have
