Over the past few years I have discovered how deeply I want to be involved in politics and international affairs. With those goals in mind, I researched colleges with the best programs for those majors. The college that stood out to me the most was George Washington University. One of the biggest things that stood out was that there is an entire school dedicated to international affairs. This means that there is room for me to grow in any concentration I wish, with a quality staff to guide me along the way. Moreover, it is important for me to be in a diverse and understanding community so George Washington’s involvement with increasing inclusion and creating a culture of cultural empathy makes the school a great fit for me. Additionally, I
When George Washington became the first president of the United States in 1789 the young republic faced many pressing issues. The state needed to build a sound economy, create a stable polotical system and preserve national independence. .

George Washington born on February 22nd, 1732 was a man of honor and patriotism, He was a disciplined but fair general and a humble president who set the standards for his successors this is why he should be remembered. As a man he was a simple farmer who when duty called he fought for his former country britain. As a general he led soldiers with discipline and honor then returned to his home. If it had not been for George Washington, Great Britain might’ve won the revolutionary war, and the United States of America as we know it would not exist. George Washington is an influential person because of his unbelievable life story, his leadership in the development of the country, his 8 years of presidency, and his leadership during the revolutionary war.
I’m doing George Washington his Occupation was that he was a planter and a general of the army of the united colonies. His birthdate is February 22, 1732 and his death date was December 14, 1799. His education is that he went to Appleby school in England. His place of birth was at Westmoreland county, Virginia in 1732 and his place of death was at Mount Vernon, Virginia. George Washington didn’t have a full name so it would just be George Washington.
The first thing Washington warned Americans about was love or hatred for other nations. He advocated for peace and equality toward all foreign countries. Washington stated, “It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest…” (Sources 119). Washington warned Americans that favoritism toward one foreign nation over another would not only cause differences with some foreign nations, but also could lead to issues in America. He believed foreign issues would allow an opportunity for groups of people (factions) to mislead the general public in America, thus dividing the country. Washington also warns us not to get involved in the disputes of other countries. He believes
The role that George Washington played in the French and Indian War was that Virginia dispatched him to deter the French from building forts (Schultz). The French, who were established in the area, defeated the inexperienced Washington a colonel at the time. This loss encouraged the English merchants to lobby for a war against the French, therefore ridding the new country of competition for trade. The colonists were accustomed to the privilege of living under the rule of salutary neglect, in which the Crown had a "hands-off style of ruling." The Crown, with their superior attitude, took a closer look at the colonies and it's back-woods seeming leaders, which prompted decisions that quickly led to the American Revolution.
Courageous, Noble, and Respectable are just a few words that can be said about George Washington. He was the first president that laid the foundation for future presidents to come; he was a soldier and one of the founding fathers of the United States. His courage in battle and the amount of respect he earned made him the perfect candidate for the first president of the United States and is the reason why I would like to ask him a few questions. I would ask him in an interview, why did you decide to form the cabinet, why do you think you were chosen to lead the Continental Army into battle, what advice did you give for the United States in the future, Why did you give a farewell address and Why did you serve only two terms as president?
1776 was an important year of the Revolutionary War. The war does not end until The Treaty of Paris in 1783, but George Washington had a numerous amount of losses and retreats, as well as victories against Cornwallis and Rall. 1776 by David McCullough is not like any of the history books we read today and so on, but solely based on Washington himself.
The revolutionary war was a one of the most successful rebellions this world has ever seen. There are great people that have fought in the war and a lot of them I would love to have a chance to sit down and talk to them. If I only had the chance to talk to one of them it would be George Washington. George Washington did a whole lot with a whole little. The way he led the troops that he had (which were mostly farmers and lawyers) to a victory against the best military power at the time. He has to be a very smart man because every other president has to follow in the footsteps he has put out for them. There are many topics that we can talk about including is war stories and I’m sure he has plenty of them. I would also ask the duties he had to
When Washington took over office the United States was a fairly small country compared to today there was only 11 states and around 4 million people. With no precedent for how presidents should conduct themselves, knowing that he would set the example on how future presidents would act Washington began to set many good examples such as respect, fairness, and integrity. Washington supported certain nations but otherwise decided to remain neutral and stayed out of foreign affairs. Domestically, Washington signed to start the first national bank for America, he also nominated the first supreme court justice which was John Jay. One big thing about Washington though is that he didn’t believe in political parties and didn’t take part in any party
In the "The Domestic Issues of the Washington Administration" lesson, I learned about how George Washington acted as a president and set examples for the future presidents that would come. I also learned that he didn’t know how to run a government so he had to appoint a group of people to help him run it which in his cabinet he had state department, war department, and a treasury department. I found interesting that Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Hamilton could never agree on anything and both of them wanted to control the destiny of the nation. And the conflict between them lead to two political parties Republicans that favored Jefferson and Federalist that favored Hamilton. And Hamilton tax policies made a big disturbance during Washington’s
The most gruesome war of the United States of American started in 1775 and lasted eight years after, finally concluding in 1783. The end of the Revolutionary War brought on much confusion about who would lead the country? Were there going to be laws? A constitution? No one knew what would happen, all the colonist knew they were free from the British. This is where the great George Washington comes into play. Along with leading troops in battle during the American Revolution, he was the first president of the U.S. This role brought on a tremendous amount of responsibilities. He strove to unify the nation, “By establishing a federal government. He did not interfere with the policy-making powers that he felt the Constitution gave Congress. He believed that foreign policy was a main concern for the young nation” (Presidential Accomplishments). Washington stepped up and did everything in his power to do what was needed for the nation.
George Washington 's strong, courageous, intelligent leadership was important because it brought the victory of the American patriots over the British in the Revolutionary War. George Washington and his leadership skills made this a great place. He paved the way for American Generals. George Washington was a great man who also lead us to victory. He also gave up lots of things to be general and president.
