George Washington Have you ever wondered how our country got started or who our first president was? Our first president was George Washington and he was an important part of the start of our country. By examining the life of George Washington and his role in the war and the effects he had in the war it is clear that he had a big and important role in the beginning of our country and how it is now.
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 . He was our very first president and he is also known as the father as our country. Before he was president he was the officer of the army commander-in-chief of the continental army, delegate to the first continental congress from Virginia. His deathbed date is on December 14, 1799. When the war started to get really bad they made George Washington Commander-in-chief of the continental army, now they have a better chance of winning the war. They put him in this position because he was a noble, courageous, honest, and loving man so they knew he would be perfect for this position. The colonies decided to elect a president on the year 1789. Washington was the first choice for president. During the American Revolution , he was one of the best generals. For example, he was usually fighting along with his soldiers, not just giving orders. Also, Washington was never severely wounded in battle. Many people believe we would have lost the war without George Washington.
On February 22, 1732 Mary Ball Washington gave birth to her first son, who was later known as the great George Washington. George Washington was born, and raised in Virginia. His childhood held few moments of greatness, seeing that he was only one of the ten children in the family. George Washington’s parents grew tobacco, and sold timber for a living. This magnificent man was our first president. He was the first born child of his mother but not his father. His father was Augustine Washington, but had two other boys and one girl with his former wife Jane Butler who died in 1730. Augustine remarried Mary Ball in 1731 and on February 22, 1732 they had George Washington. He eventually became the owner of the Washington lands, at the young age of 20. He loved farming throughout his life.
