The Battle of Cold Harbor in spring of 1864 was one of General Ulysses S. Grant’s worst offensive defeats during the Civil War. We were just about to move when we got hit the shell ripped through the armor and blew up throwing shards of metal all over the inside of the tank. I dove out of the way but my arm got hit by debris it was one of the strobe lights. It shattered and broke my arm. I ran into our compound to get a medic. No one was in there and it was dead silent. Then I heard the most terrifying noise in my life, The Orange Mist. It was a wailing noise I ran to the basement which had a bunker that went deeper into the ground. As bullets rang from the besieged paratroopers and the desperate germans col. Sanders and the paratrooper attempted to form a battle plan. “Were glad to see you boys the krauts have had us pinned down for hours we’ve got a looney toon of a plan Col.” the paratrooper said “old ma and pa farmer here left behind their tractor we bet a franklin that if we get that thing going we could use it for cover to get across the bridge and give the Krauts a Kentucky greeting”. Italy entered World War II on June 10, 1940 on the side of the Axis by attacking Great Britain and France. Being in alliance with both Japan and Germany. However, this was not the sole purpose of their joining the war, Italy wanted to expand to Europe and Africa, seeking to improve their economic status. Furthermore, Benito Mussolini, Italy’s Prime Minister, was looking for revenge on France after the events following World War I.

Both were key members of the Axis powers and wanted to see their flags fly over their respective hemispheres, extending their own sway and dominion. Driven by similar ideologies and themes, the major Axis powers fought broadly similar, though not identical wars.

In the 1930s, Japan attacked and conquered China. The Japanese troops first started in Beijing, then Shanghai and Nanjing. They bombed Shanghai which destroyed a lot of homes and killed thousands of innocent civilians. The invasion of China by Japan brought them to victory. Since Shanghai and Nanjing had fallen, the Chinese had suffered a lot for a long period of time. Within two months approximately thousands of women became victims because they were raped, unarmed Chinese soldiers lost their lives, and homes were burned in Nanjing. This caused them to be homeless because they had nowhere to go. Even though the Japanese was victorious in their battles, the Chinese was determined to defeat them no matter what they do. During World War I, six hundred thousand Italian soldiers lost their lives fighting against their enemies. As a result, the Great War created a negative impact on the economy.
