The reason why these Countries fought was to give France their independence and fight off the Nazis.
The Battle of Cold Harbor in spring of 1864 was one of General Ulysses S. Grant’s worst offensive defeats during the Civil War. Grant failed to describe his mission command to his subordinate, direct his units to correct movement, understand his operational environment, and lead his army with a coordinated plan. Grant had a stronger, bigger, and better-equipped army than his enemy, but his failure in the mission command process led to fatal mistakes before and during the battle. Due to failed leadership, the Union preparation for this war was so poor that it suffered nearly 7,000 casualties in under an hour, making it one of the most brutal confrontations of the Civil War.
The Allied Powers made it very hard for Germany and Austria and the newly formed countries in
At 12:01, with the echo of the last bell lingering in the air, the one-hundred pounds of dynamite hidden in the wagon exploded (Andrews, 2014). Shrapnel encompassed the immediate area; people were dropping everywhere. The structures nearby shook as the shock wave slammed through the exterior walls. The cloth awnings that overlooked the streets burst into flames (Bellows, 2007). Next, came a rain shower of glass that drenched the streets from the shattered windows. Nearby, World War I veterans experienced a scene of devastation very similar to that of the battlefields. They initially suspected that cause of such destruction had come from the skies (King, 2011). One witness wrote, “ It was a crash out of a blue sky, an unexpected, death dealing bolt which in a twinkling turned into a shamble the busiest corner of Americas financial center” (Gage 2002).
FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT KNEW ABOUT AND LET PEARL HARBOR HAPPEN IN ORDER TO GET AMERICA INVOLVED IN WW2
It was now the sunday morning of December 7, 1941, where many military personnel had a time of leisure. Many of them either were still sleeping, in halls eating breakfast, or getting ready for church. I who had been in the mess hall having breakfast sat with a group of men, enjoying a warm bowl of oatmeal and coffee. As I took a sip of coffee I felt all my muscles awaken and gain strength ready for what this day would bring me. It was just another day of work, or that is what we all thought. The hall was full of cheerful men laughing, talking, and eating. All of a sudden we heard the sounds of planes racing through the thick air, and the crowd of people grew silent. I looked around as everyones faces grew with fear and confusion, as they ran outside to see what was going on.
When Poland’s borders are compromised, France and Britain honor their promise to protect Poland. Eventually America is pulled into the war completely when Japan bombs the American territory of Pearl Harbor. Ultimately Germany’s actions result in both the axis powers and allies being pulled into World War II to stop the spread of Hitler’s fascist regime.
We were just about to move when we got hit the shell ripped through the armor and blew up throwing shards of metal all over the inside of the tank. The metal shards smacked Dan’s face our tank suffered immense damage . The Panzer III had 40mm armor piercing rounds. A friendly M1-Abrams destroyed the panzer with two shells. It was a decoy it was remote controlled tank. Very expensive, then we got ambushed there were soldiers and trucks all around us. “Any ways that’s all I have for you guys today.”The base alarm sounded right after I said that, The F.O.B (forward operating base) commander said it was an air raid so Dan and I got onto the flak cannons and fired everywhere it was night so the explosions of the cannons lit up the sku. We hit a bomber coming down and it started a chain reaction it ended up in 3 planes crashing, “RUN!” I looked up and I saw a plane right there about 30 feet away from me. I dove out of the way but my arm got hit by debris it was one of the strobe lights. It shattered and broke my arm. I ran into our compound to get a medic. No one was in there and it was dead silent. Then I heard the most terrifying noise in my life, The Orange Mist. It was a wailing noise I ran to the basement which had a bunker that went deeper into the ground. And I found all the base members cooks,
As bullets rang from the besieged paratroopers and the desperate germans col. Sanders and the paratrooper attempted to form a battle plan. “Were glad to see you boys the krauts have had us pinned down for hours we’ve got a looney toon of a plan Col.” the paratrooper said “old ma and pa farmer here left behind their tractor we bet a franklin that if we get that thing going we could use it for cover to get across the bridge and give the Krauts a Kentucky greeting”. Col. Sanders replied “what makes you so sure that the huns ain't gonna blow us to kingdom come with those panzerschreck while we cross the bridge”. The paratrooper smiled and said “ well you see that's the catch twenty two they need the bridge just as bad as we do.” the tractor roared to life and burst through the barn doors slowly heading across the old stone bridge. The germans momentarily ceased fire as the ancient machine made its way across the bridge, but the silence was broken as they blasted away at the tractor, it was in vain as the tractor did its job and got most the army soldiers across. In a strange twist of events the gunshots stopped and the sobbing of children could be heard, just as Brooklyn was about to
and that’s officially how United States entered World War II. Japan, Germany, and Italy were
Italy entered World War II on June 10, 1940 on the side of the Axis by attacking Great Britain and France. Being in alliance with both Japan and Germany. However, this was not the sole purpose of their joining the war, Italy wanted to expand to Europe and Africa, seeking to improve their economic status. Furthermore, Benito Mussolini, Italy’s Prime Minister, was looking for revenge on France after the events following World War I.
In 12 minutes, the boat sank with 350 soldiers on board. They were in the middle of the ocean, in the middle of nowhere. Half of the people were on rafts. The others were trying to hold onto a net nearby. By day 2, people were already having hallucinations. People were thinking they saw girls in grass skirts and other stuff. Some people wanted to die. The water was shark infested.
The Second World War is characterized by extreme levels of violence, hatred and brutality perhaps never seen before in history. Germany and Japan although separated by thousands of kilometers, and never participating in joint military conquest before, both waged fierce wars, and participated in cruel occupation of other nations. Both were key members of the Axis powers and wanted to see their flags fly over their respective hemispheres, extending their own sway and dominion. Driven by similar ideologies and themes, the major Axis powers fought broadly similar, though not identical wars.
In the 1930s, Japan attacked and conquered China. The Japanese troops first started in Beijing, then Shanghai and Nanjing. They bombed Shanghai which destroyed a lot of homes and killed thousands of innocent civilians. The invasion of China by Japan brought them to victory. Since Shanghai and Nanjing had fallen, the Chinese had suffered a lot for a long period of time. Within two months approximately thousands of women became victims because they were raped, unarmed Chinese soldiers lost their lives, and homes were burned in Nanjing. This caused them to be homeless because they had nowhere to go. Even though the Japanese was victorious in their battles, the Chinese was determined to defeat them no matter what they do. During World War I, six hundred thousand Italian soldiers lost their lives fighting against their enemies. As a result, the Great War created a negative impact on the economy. Benito Mussolini vow that he would bring fame to Italy by conquering territories. Italy had took over Ethiopia
