This was a period of Athenian political hegemony, economic growth and cultural flourishing formerly known as the Golden Age of Athens or The Age of Pericles. The period began in 480 BC when an Athenian-led coalition of city-states, known as the Delian League, defeated the Persians at Salamis. Since the beginning of time the people of the world have their share of beliefs. Greek mythology is the arguably the most popular region of study. In Ancient Greece every citizen had a patron that would protect them and pantheism was commonplace. The Romans admired the Greeks in their art and culture and even took different aspects of their gods. Polytheism was widely accepted in all cultures so the seed of mythology bloomed. The time line of the creations of gods to the end of their reign is an important factor in Greek Mythology.

“The Restoration of the Athenian Empire” Our walls are crumbling and our fleet is minute. We here in Athens are unable to collect tribute from other city-states and are often in threat of being attacked. Our fleet is defenseless and weak. The Democratic fraction, propose that we spend our time and hard earned money on the rebuilding of our walls and fleet. That way Athens can dangerously collect tributes from other Greek city-states. The Ancient Olympic Games took place during a time of prosperity for the nation of Greece. In fact, they contributed to the success of the Greek Empire. The Olympic Games reinforced the power of ancient rulers, brought peace with the surrounding nations, and created a reliable way to track time. These ancient games have had such an influence, that they are still continued in our modern society.

Ancient Greek culture had major influences on today’s culture; some of these influences include mathematics, government, art and architecture; they even did research in the field of medicine. Many cultures and religions have adapted their ideas from the ancient Greeks. Without the influences of the ancient Greeks our society wouldn’t be the way it is today. The Greek culture lasted from around 776 BCE to 146 BCE (though it is argued to have begun around 1000 BCE), during this time they invented many technologies and refined old technologies. These things are what caused the ancient Greek culture to be such a powerful influence on western society today.

     The ancient Greek and Roman civilizations of Europe began to progress toward a more civilized order of society. As there were no previous establishment to base their ideals on, it was understandable that there were some difficulties in their progression as a society. Although the ancient Greek and Roman governments fell, both had similar paths of creation, conquest, and destruction.

In the Hellenistic world, there were a lot of intellectual success in Greek. This was a period when a lot of History writers came to life. Herodotus and Thucydides were well known history writers. These writers wrote about current events such as the Persia and Peloponnesian war. There were many entertainments been done in the city-state to delight the residents such as drama. Aeschy and Sophocles were famous for writing tragedy type of dramas. Aristophane was known for his comedy work. All their dramas were a reflection of the reality of Greek in the Hellenistic world.

Ancient Greece had a major impact on the Western World due to many factors. Documents 1 and 2 reveal that the Western World has been impacted by political factors of the ancient Greeks, whille documents 4, and 5 show us that the Western World was impacted due to cultural reasons.

This Greek play expressed the values of family and respect. Greek dramas have been contributions because they were the building blocks of movies, more plays and other forms of entertainment. Over time, they have become more creative with more actors and more colorful costumes. In classical Greece, there were only three actors with masks to show different characters. The Olympics have also made a huge impact. The Olympics was a huge event where specifically males participated in various competitive events. Discus throwing was a popular event in which people competed to see who could throw a large stone disc the farthest. The Olympics have been a contribution because it is a much more popular and larger event today. In today’s era, the Olympics are played every four years. A wide range of competitions and sports have been added to the Olympics and it is participated in world wide.

The Parthenon of Athens which was considered to be one of the finest example of Greek architecture. (Doc 3) the Parthenon was a place for trade praise and prayer. Octavian Augustus was a powerful leader. Octavian was the first emperor of Rome. There are many statues of this powerful Roman man. (Doc 7) Roman architecture promoted different forms of Ancient Greek architecture and some more recent technologies including the arch and the dome to create a more current architectural approach. Its use of new materials, specifically concrete, was an important aspect. Roman architecture expanded throughout the Empire . Both the roman and Greek societies used these ideas for monuments, statues and other architectural buildings, though Greece came up with newer technologies that helped change roman architecture. The Greek people started the worldwide tradition known as the Olympic. The first Olympic Games were help in Greece, Olympia long ago. Although the Greeks started this tradition as a form of entertainment, the rest of the world picked up on this which eventually made the Olympics one of the most well known things around the world. Socrates was a renowned philosopher in the ancient Grecian times. His peak was around the Peloponnesian War, when the Spartans defeated the Athenians and ended the Golden Age. The reason Socrates is one of histories most famous philosophers is largely due to Plato's writings. Two of Plato's famous works include The Apology and The Republic, both written about Socrates' views about the so called "wise philosophers" of his time. The two works hold unique views about government, as well as opening the eyes of the Grecian people to the world as they knew it.

Cultural Analysis of the Country of Greece The country of Greece has historically been the standard to which all other countries advanced their respective countries. Greek philosophy is routinely taught at all levels of the educational system. Ancient Greek government was the epitome of a true democratic establishment. The country of Greece has stood at the forefront of historical events throughout time.

Along with the extraordinary writers, they had extraordinary pieces. One of the most famous ancient writers Homer has written some of the best epics till this day. One of his best was The Odyssey, and epic by Homer. The story is about a hero, Odysseus, and his journey home from the Trojan War. Another very well constructed piece had been The Iliad, this story was about the events that taken place in the Trojan War, it also goes into detail about the Trojan Horse, the horse had been made out of wood and had been a fake peace offering, but instead was filled with warrior, they soon attack and started war. Ancient Greek literature plays a huge part in our world today. Without it our world would be changed completely.
