Good afternoon,
M name is Peter Madden. I am a representative of the Family First Party representing Tasmania. First, or current Australian flag represents Britain, and that clearly diminishes our value of being a free country. Our design should be elected as the new Australian flag as the golden wattle on our flag reflects our prized values. For instance, Family First believes in a nation comprised of important morals and values such as honesty, hard work, respect, loyalty, kindliness and compassion. All these elements combined together contribute to strong, healthy, united families. A united nation. The golden wattle is not only a symbol of Australia’s native flora, but also a symbol of peace and unity. This is exactly what our sunburnt nation yearns for today as financial crisis’s, violence and terrorism has weaved its way onto our

Statistics show that 1 in 11 people have been subjected to violence since the age of 15 years of age. Our values are perishing…Australia is falling apart. In addition to that, Australia must unite as a nation and support the vulnerable elderly living in families, societies and country. The bills from government run companies such as water and power agencies are rising rapidly. Are we going to watch helplessly whilst the fragile grandparents and elderly parents of our societies struggle in their own homes, frozen to the bone in winter as they cannot simply afford to heat their houses? In 2013, 45% of adults aged 65 and older had incomes below twice the poverty level. This certainly depicts the failure of the leadership by the government and the lack of values. Vote for the family first flag for the beginning of a stronger and
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
How have social policies and changes to the Australian welfare state affected the aged population.
Imagine a room full of people, tapping their feet, swaying back and forth to the sound of rock music on the speakers. Imagine them smiling as they throw their hands in the air. Now, imagine another room full of people, but not moving. They are all sitting, or standing. They talking to each other, but no one smiles. Which room do you want to be in? Well, the students of Bomont were not asked that question, they did not have a choice. In the movie Footloose, no on danced, or partied. All of these things were illegal, although that still did not stop them. The movie Footloose brought attention to immense topics such as rebellious behavior, religion, and speaking up for yourself and others.
Good Morning Members of the Australian Flag Committee, A country's flag is its most important, valuable and honourable representation. By looking at it, one can understand all about that country's history, people and values. As we are choosing a new flag for Australia, we should choose one that tells the story of Australia from the beginning till the end. Some might be wondering, what is wrong with our current Australian flag? Well I ask you, does the three elements, the Union Jack, the Commonwealth Star and the Southern Cross tell the complete story of Australia?
Today I’m going to show you a new representation of the Australian flag that embodies our rich history, diverse culture and national pride for Australian’s of all ages. To understand features and the profound significance of this new flag it is vital to explore the use of symbols and icons, the colour choices and positioning and the salient cultural and historical importance. It would be an outrage to ignore the deep symbolism and icons of Australia historical culture. Australia is an extremely multicultural and diverse country and for some people it’s a permanent place where different cultures come together. Symbols and icons are very significant in a flag to show what your country represents, I've recognised the aborigines for their ownership of our land.
This paper focuses on aging in Australia, the different policies and services for the aging population, and provides some examples about what it would be like to age in Australia. First, it is important to understand the age care policy in Australia. There are four different components to this policy: the old-aged pension system, pursuit of the aging-in-place policy, self-funded services and supports, and residential and frail aged care. The aged care policy in Australia is “built on the premise of independence and individualization and assumes that older people will remain in the community for as long as they are able to” (Gray & Heinsch, 2009, p. 108). In order to
It was nice to speak with you today about the NCNW award. However, because of the short notice and the September 5, 2015 deadline the Glass curve would not be ready on time. We would like to move forward and create a customized NCNW framed award for $80.00. I have attached a 15 in X 12 in NCNW frame award sample we can customize for your recipient.
“Everything we do in public policy prevents us from doing something else. To govern, is to choose’ (Lamm, 2013). Public Policy is an imperative ingredient in the formulation of the just and efficient laws, that protect the Australian people. Aged Care policy has recently come under scrutiny after findings showed that elder abuse had become increasingly prevalent. AdvoCare Incorporated, a not-for-profit, aged-care advocacy agency, believe that with policy reform and structural change, the rights of older Australians can be improved (Advocare Incorporated, 2016). Access to services and resources, increased education and improved legal systems, are three
First, I’ll discuss youth sports and its philosophy on awarding children with a trophy just for signing up. According to Brian Sanders from I9 Sports, his philosophy is every child gets an All-Star trophy. They believe by giving a trophy to every child it would make them feel special, by participating, being part of a team and complete the season. Every child should receive an award it will build up their self-esteem and would encourage them to play again. I’m ambivalent when it comes to the younger kids’ age 4 and age 5. This happens in all in house youth sports organization.
I’ve never delivered a formal speech before, so I assumed I would have a hard time with this assignment. Then after reading more of the material, I realized the term “speech” has a broader definition as compared to my understanding. Therefore I chose “Speech to Persuade”.
Let go of mummy’s skirt Australia! It’s time to move forward as a nation. The current Australian flag does not distinctively represent Australia’s national identity and must be changed. First of all, the flag does not acknowledge prior ownership of the land, nor does it demonstrate the ability to fully reflect the identity of ordinary Australians. Furthermore, changing the flag will not alter the national pride within Australians as they fought for the country, not for the flag.
Australia, like numerous countries throughout the world, has an imminent aged care crisis. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (2012) reports that there are 3.22 million people aged 65 years or older, or 14% of the population, and this number is expected to double over the next 45 years. The effect of the elderly living longer is that the occurrence of illness and disabilities, as well as recovery time, is increased (Lovell, 2006). Associated with this is the increase in demand for health care resources, and the negative stereotype of the elderly being an economic burden (Lovell, 2006). The stereotype of the elderly being frail is perpetuated by the media’s promotion of youth and vitality, as well as the biased reporting of the negative
As the princess waves her hand slightly to the right, signaling that the young man should choose the right door, the man starts to cautiously make his way towards it. Just before he could grab the silver lever, he thinks to himself, “What if the princess knew I was going to pick the right door leading me to the lady, instead of leading me to the ferocious man-eating tiger? Why would she want me to be with another woman whom she thinks is dire? I cannot go through with this barbaric decision.” In one instant, the young man turns swiftly to look back at the Princess, who is staring at him with fear and softly mouthing to him, “Choose the right door.“ He disregards her and turns to the left door, which is latched by an enormous silver lever and he opens it with ease. While the young man tries to see through the blackness, the princess quietly gets up from her seat and sneaks out of the arena.
In 2010, 13% of the population was over the age of 65 years and by 2050 this is predicted to rise to around 20%. Australia has been proactive in response to population ageing, with a well articulated policy in relation to residential and community care since the mid 1980s. Given its comparatively small population of 22 million, there has been time for the government, the broader community and institutional structures to plan ahead to respond appropriately to the social and economic implications of an ageing society. Since the mid 1980s, in line with international trends amongst mature developed economies, there has been a gradual shift from institutional to community care and the articulation of ‘ageing in place’, ‘productive’ and ‘active ageing’ policies. Governments of both the right and the left in Australia have actively pursued these agendas, influenced by the policy leadership of key international agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), OECD and various initiatives of the International Year of Older Persons (Australian Government Treasury, 2010; Commonwealth of Australia Productivity Commission, 2011; Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2001). In the light of rapidly growing demand and the development of new service modes and technologies, ageing and community care policies have been under constant review. The National Productivity Commission has just completed a major inquiry into Care of Older
The times have changed to now where every kid will get a trophy for playing a game or being in a tournament. For century's it has always just been 1st ,2nd ,and 3rd where the only places that would get a trophy or award for being the winners. I am here today to tell you why it is not a good idea to give every kid a trophy to him for just playing the game.
