Google is in a good position among population demographics because most of their users are of a younger generation. Baby boomers cater themselves to other companies. Internet usage will not hurt them because searches do not have to be limited to females or males. New technological products that come out will cater towards Generation Y and Generation Z more. However, they will still benefit Baby Boomers and Generation
For one thing, Google, like the railroad in its time, is an important part of how people interact with each other today. People use Google to digitally meet with others, communicate, and even sell things. Multiple people are affected by Google each day. 87% of people have claimed to use the internet in 2016 (Anderson). To add onto this the number of people who don’t use the internet has been decreasing since 2000.
2. I believe that google is following their dictum because most of the time google has been beneficial to many people. The positive benefit provided by Google’s technology is that it helps the user to easily access website. Also, it provides videos, images, news, maps, shopping, and etc., so it provides many support to the user to complete their job. However, Google has a negative impact on both people and society because there will be no privacy and people can easily access information without doing hard work, so that would decrease a person work
General Environment. Today, Google, Inc. (hereinafter "Google" or "the company") competes in the global technology industry where in holds a leading position. The company remains committed to "improving the ways people connect with information" (Form 10-K, 2012, p. 3). The general environment in which the company competes is characterized by rapid growth as well as industry convergence as existing technologies and platforms are stretched to their limits (Hitt, Ireland & Hokisson, 2011). In this environment, Google has emerged as the major actor that is modeling the way for others. For
Women in King County during the year of 2013 were surveyed and the survey showed a wide variety of fertility rates. The American Community Survey surveyed women ages 20-34, 35-50, native born, foreign born, and in labor force in King County. Below are five maps that were classified of equal interval to show the fertility rate in women among the demographics in King County. The choropleth maps were classified of equal interval because it was easily read among the other classification and it indicated the values compared to one another.
In order to best describe the cultural landscape of Stafford County and Fredericksburg city, one must analyze the historical conditions that shaped the modern landscape, which will provide insight into present-day demographics as well as future projections. Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, settlements in Virginia rapidly spread westward from the Tidewater Region. Navigable rivers provided the means of movement, as settlers sailed into the Piedmont. While large plantations were initially established in a dispersed and decentralized pattern, several towns of small size began to prosper as sites of tobacco shipment inspection. The exploration of the Rappahannock River dates to 1608, when Captain John Smith visited the falls and encountered indigenous Native
In any discussion of the internet, one controversial issue is that the internet is causing more harm than good. On the one hand, Nicholas Carr, writer of “Is Google making us Stupid?” argues that it has caused damaging effects to his brain and memory. On the other hand, Mr. Carr contends that there are many blessings that come with the internet. My own view is mixed as well. The internet can begin to answer virtually any question I may have. However, I have notice the attention span of the people around me is slowly decreasing. With Google doing most of the thinking for us we are no longer forced to memorize thing. So when it comes to the internet are we really losing or winning?
To start, I use Google pretty regularly as anyone would if they have access to technology like in today’s society. I personally use Google whenever I need an address for a certain store or a phone number for said store. No one uses phonebooks anymore, when I can just easily type the name in the browser and have accurate results show up in seconds. I also use Google for directions or news updates. Google is extremely helpful because most people live their lives through their phones and Google is right there when you have literally any question and it will be answered in just a few seconds. Other benefits from Google are that the most relevant sites are shown when you look something up. This is very important because if you are looking something up and something else totally irrelevant comes up it is very confusing. Not only that but, Google is ad-free and for someone who is on the Web a lot, ads are extremely annoying and a waste of time. Finally, Google has about one trillion sites indexed as well which is pretty amazing.
Over the course of years technology has expanded tremendously. In the beginning being in the library trying to look up information was the norm. Now in the 20th century everything is literally at our fingertips. Google has become a necessity for many people. For example, if a computer came without google or and other search engine would a person still buy it. Would they be willing to go and take the time to do research elsewhere? Is the dependency of google and the internet in general affecting our everyday thinking and how we run our lives? Nicholas Carr and a few others questioned this theory.
Demographics is the study of human population based on statistical facts of the social and economic characteristics of a locality. This report describes the demographic outline of Orange County, California, which is located east of the Pacific Ocean and south of Los Angeles County. As of 2014, the population was 3,086,331 making it the third most populated county in Southern California (U.S. Census Bureau, 2014). Primarily known as “The OC,” Orange County is famous for its tourist attractions and beaches that stretch along more than 40 miles of coastline. The OC is a comprehensive metropolitan to its 34 cities, with the four largest cities each exceeding a population of 200,000 (Orange County, 2016). It ranked as the sixth most populous county in the United States showing a combination range of statistic data based off race and ethnicity, education, household and income, healthcare, and economy.
According to the December 2012 United States Census Bureau Population Projection, the nation will continue its trend of consistent diversification. By 2024, the non-Hispanic white population will show a decrease in numbers. Minorities including Hispanics, African Americans and Asians will double, and other groups will increase by at least half. Eventually, non-Hispanic whites will not be seen as a majority, but as an equally represented group among its ethnic counterparts (U.S. Bureau, 2014). This projection can not be transposed to the country’s nursing population. Non-Hispanic white nurses often vastly outnumber other groups (Bessent, 2009, p6). The nursing workforce needs to actively and continually diversify its professionals to provide competent care for the nation’s ever-changing population.
As of 2014, the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey reveals 47.6 percent of women between the ages of 15 and 44 do not have children. This percentage is the highest the calculation has been since the bureau started keeping track of this data in 1976. The senior editor of Mic, Elizabeth Plank says women choosing to not have children makes complete sense given the state of the country’s economy, the gender pay gap, and the outrageous cost of raising a child today. Women, especially millennial women, know of the consequences they will face if they choose to start a family while also trying to maintain a successful career. Men are also affected by becoming a parent while being part of the workforce (Gray). Starting or expanding a family affects both a woman and a man in emotional and financial ways; therefore, parental leave from a job should be a reasonable length, paid, and for both parents.
Google is the most popular search engine that the world uses on an everyday basis. Sergey Brin and Larry Page created Google in 1998. What started out to be a small search engine and ranking system are now the worlds most profitable Internet companies of our time. Google has created many products today that have changed the world of technology, products such as Google+, YouTube, Android, Motorola Mobility, the Nexus 7 tablet computer, Google Wallet, and Google Glass (p.470). Google is qualified as one of the best companies to work for (p.464.) The issue we are facing today is the privacy policy
In the July-August 2008 Atlantic magazine, Nicholas Carr published "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" (http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200807/google). In this article Nicolas Carr argues that the internet is changing how one thinks, and how it is causing a bad effect on one’s brain. I have to disagree. Although the internet is constantly changing, it helps in a positive way. Firstly, google has become a great resource for educational purposes. Secondly, the internet has become a great resource for intercultural experiences. Due to the general population spending most of their time on computer’s and smart phones, this information is accessible to us whenever needed.
Google is a company that was conceptualized in a dorm room by two Stanford University college students in 1996 (Arnold, 2005, p. 1) and has morphed into one of the greatest technological powerhouses in operation today. What began as merely a means to analyze and categorize Web sites according to their relevance has developed into a vast library of widely utilized resources, including email servicing, calendaring, instant messaging and photo editing, just to reference a few. Recent statistics collected by SearchEngineWatch.com reflects that of the 10 billion searches performed within the United States during the month of February, 2008, an impressive 5.9 billion of them were executed by Google (Burns, 2008). Certain things Yahoo has to offer show’s that there’s still room for growth with Google. Yahoo has its own question and answer forums, where users can ask other users any question and receive responses. Yahoo also has a careers section. Those who are looking for a job can use yahoo has a resource. There are so many more uses that Yahoo has to offer. These are all areas of opportunity that Google and it’s advertisers may be able to benefit from.
