For most people their graduation day is one of the best days of their lives. No more high school, and for some it means that they are now able to move out on their own and embark on the independent journey of college. In my case my graduation day started out to be a great day but turned out to be one of the worst. It is almost as if I wish I never had a ceremony. If there wasn't graduation ceremony there wouldn't have been an accident. On June 13, 2011, I woke up a happy and excited 17 year old for it was my graduation day and that meant no more high school, no more nagging teachers, and no more drama. I met my friends and my boyfriend Andrew in the school parking lot and away we went to practice graduation. After we had practiced …show more content…
After we had walked out and took our seats I couldn't help but to stare at the empty seat next to me and wonder where he was at. I called his house but no one picked up. After calling a repeated amount of times his friend Ryan was able to get through to his parents. His parents had told Ryan that there was an accident and after we graduate they will tell us where Andrew is at. As soon as Ryan got off the phone he told me not to worry and that he probably broke his leg or something and that he was in a hospital somewhere and that we will know where after we get our diplomas. After a couple of speeches and a few diplomas later it was almost my row's turn to walk across the stage and claim our diplomas. Right before we were to stand up and walk toward the stage I got the worst news of my life. I got a call from Andrews frantic older brother. He asked if I had walked yet I told him no and demanded to know where Andrew was. After a few minutes of heavy breaths I heard the words, " Jenn, Andrews.... Andrews dead." The words echoed in my ears. I dropped my phone and just sat there. I couldn't move, speak or even cry, I just sat there and stared. After a few minutes I guess you could say it hit me. The tears came rolling off my face. Advisors and school employees' ran to me
A is for awesome as it perfectly sums up my middle school years. While there were some bumps along the road, I've finally made it to the end of this exciting(2) 8th grade year. Throughout my years at Sierramont Middle School, I've experienced and learned so many valuable skills that I'll always remember. I've met people that changed my life, teachers that inspired and taught me, and experienced the joys of middle school. While there were some people that annoyed me to the point I wanted to explode(10), there were more people who left a positive mark in my life. The teachers I've had have done so much for me and all I can hope for is for all teachers to be recognized more. Teachers are the building blocks(8) to a person's life, yet they are
The best part about my graduation is that I had the chance to see the pride in parents’ eyes when I received my diploma. It was a priceless moment when I finally achieved one of my goals and was accepted in pre pharmacy program which made my parents even more proud and now I play my favorite track
WOW! So much has happened since June. The SV FFA and ag department had a rough start to our year losing three of our students who were on the FFA officer team to other schools. Even with this bump in the road, the four officers that remained visited Mt. Shasta City and had a blast bonding and learning more about each other at their officer retreat in August. Once school started we found three new officers and attended COLC (Chapter Officer Leadership Conference) where the entire team learned about their diverse leadership styles and were able to bond together as the official Surprise Valley FFA Chapter Officer Team for the 2017-2018 school year. If you see them around, congratulate President Cindy Hinze, V.P. Maddison Seely, Secretary Maya
Graduation has many meanings for it; however one way to look at graduation would be the transition from youth to maturity. Graduation in another point of view could be the transition from one chapter of someone’s life to another. Most people would consider their childhood the best time of their lives. Some could also recall a part of their life that was a new chapter for them, or that it changed their life in one way or another. The journey from youth to maturity however, is ruthless, inconsistent, and can be a good time for some; others, not so much. Poems such as “To an Athlete Dying Young,” or “An Ex-Basketball Player” and award winning movies like “Holes” and “High School Musical: Senior Year” all relate to the celebration called graduation
I was panicking I didn’t know what I did I thought I was in some kind of trouble, but when I got to the principal’s office, there were 2-3 police officers there waiting for me. They sat me down with a concerned look and told me some terrible news. These few words that I could never get out of my head. It’s as if there locked in a prison. They told me that my father was in an accident at first I thought that they were just talking about a car accident. I had no idea what to expect. Then they told me that my father had passed away I started balling my eyes out I didn’t know what to do. They soon drove me back to my house where I saw my brother and a few neighbors and friends. There were a few cop cars and an ambulance. I later found out that he had committed suicide. My aunt and uncle came and picked us up from my house and brought us to their house where they tried to cheer us up a bit it was my cousins birthday so we tried to have a
Tuesday morning the football team was called out of class and was told to go to the locker room. When we entered all the coaches were there and they told us to have a seat. Coach Aaker proceeded to tell us that he had passed away late last night. Everyone was in shock and just sat there. Coach tried to talk but he battled tears. He told us we didn’t have to play the next game, but we decided Taylor would have wanted us to continue to play, and he would have the best seat in the
I was not surprised when I found out my best friend died. He was reckless and made poor decisions, but somehow, he was also the smartest person I knew. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I found out. I was in my bedroom playing Fallout 4 when I received a group text which informed most of the swim team of the death. A text message is an awful way to find out. A impersonal two sentence text that read “This morning Jacob Schaedler was killed in a snowmobile accident. If anyone needs to talk just call me.” Everything was slightly spinning and I was badly shaking. I remember walking to the Living room where my parents were sitting and saying, “Schaedler is dead.” Neither of my parents believed me and thought it was one of
Last year my brother graduated from Eastern Illinois University. In May of last year I had missed a week of school. We went down to the university to watch him graduate. The first night we got down there we went and put our stuff in the hotel room and got ready to go to his graduation.
The night of graduation we all lined up the same way we did at practice, ABC order, as I walked out I felt so rewarded that I was able to make it to my high school graduation. We all sat in a huge gym surrounded by our loves ones, Black and gold caps and gowns filled the room. I waited anxiously for my name to be called; with my last name starting with a W I was pretty much at the end. I walked up and across the stage, shook their hand as I received my diploma and smiled for a picture. As I walked back to my seat I feel my eyes start to water because I felt so proud of myself that I made it to this point after years of hard work. I look around once I’m seated and see how happy everyone is. Next year everyone will be going their separate ways, starting college and making new friends. The ceremony ends with a bunch of smiles, some tears and caps being thrown up in the air while everyone is clapping for
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life.
Our graduation is our coming of age, our right of passage. As we walk across this stage we are writing the closing pages to our Chapter I and heading into the great unknown. It's kinda scary -- but hey, don't you cry, even though high school is over, the times we've shared and the friends we've made will never be lost. The clock is ticking, time is fleeting and nobody lives forever. But true friendship is something we can count on never dying. I hope wherever we go in life it will be happy and even if we all move to remote island countries we can all count on the memories and laugh at all the stupid things we did.
Graduation is an exciting time in a person’s life, especially a high school graduation. When I think of family and friends gathering together to celebrate a joyous occasion, I feel I accomplished my strongest goal. It never occurred to me that graduation would be the end of my youth and the start of adulthood. Graduating from high school was an influential event that gave me an altered outlook on my existence. Life before graduation, preparing for graduation day, and commencement day overwhelmed me for reality.
Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that’s a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still
Successful completion of graduate school is a momentous and joyous occasion. It is the moment a graduate student has been working towards throughout graduate school. What is important to remember is not all individuals who start graduate school will successfully complete their degree program. Individuals that are successful know how much work and effort was needed to graduate. Graduate students make personal sacrifices to continue their education. Attending graduate school comes with a high price. Students must commit huge chunks of time to school assignments. Graduate students sacrifice personal time as well as time spent with family and friends. Moreover, there is the monetary cost of attending graduate school. After paying such
The day I graduated high school is the most important day of my life because I experienced a euphoric feeling. The excessive weight on my shoulders was released and I felt relieved. Throughout high school, I endured many sleepless nights due to homework that piled up because I was horrible at time-management. Also, procrastination always got the best of me and I spent many late nights drinking coffee to stay awake in order to study for quizzes and finals. High school definitely challenged me and I developed into a new version of myself after I graduated. My graduation day was a rollercoaster of emotions because I was anxious on the drive to school because of the tremendous amount of traffic. Naturally, stress came over me as I was about to arrive late to my own graduation. Truthfully, I was running late because I spent so much time straightening my thick, curly hair and applying makeup. After I applied some dark pink eyeshadow throughout my eyelids using a soft synthetic brush, I quickly applied a muted pink lipstick and rushed out of my room. Unfortunately, the time I spent applying my makeup was wasted because as soon as I
