Green Day in the 2015 Rock Hall of Fame
Since 1983, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has been a place of dedication to showing the history of some of the best and most important artists, producers, engineers and others who have influenced the music industry. Every year since it has been established, they have held a ceremony inducting groups, individual artists and others into its records. They have had 30 ceremonies, and inducted almost 750 people into their hall. The museum helps educate people on the history and impact that music has had on our society. He created a team to help him accomplish the task that included attorney Suzan Evans, Rolling Stone magazine editor and publisher Jann S. Wenner, attorney Allen Grubman and record executives Seymour Stein, Bob Krasnow and Noreen Woods. The Foundation began inducting artists in 1986, however they still hadn’t found a location for the actual physical address for the museum. The search committee considered several cities, including Memphis, Detroit, Cincinnati, New York City, and Cleveland, all of which were home to major record companies until they decided on Cleveland on the permanent location. The building was finally finished in 1995, and has since had more than 8.5 million visitors, and brought in over 1.8 billion dollars to Cleveland’s economy. American Idiot that was released in 2004, was number one on the Billboard charts, and was the band's first album to reach number one. The album was then labeled as a punk rock opera in which it follows the journey of the fictitious "Jesus of Suburbia". The album was released two months before U.S. President George W. Bush was reelected, and then the album had became protest art. In 2005, American Idiot won the Grammy for Best Rock Album, and the band also won a total of seven out of eight awards for which they were nominated, including the Viewer's Choice Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2005.
