For our final group presentation, I worked with Alisha Sandridge, Makaylah Hunter-Toney, Jalen Douglas, and Josh Blackwell. Each of the group members had contributions that helped us finish the project. For this project, I wrote our proposal that was due in April, I participated in both sets of interviews by recording as well as asking questions. I was also responsible for gathering information on the cultural competency portion of the presentation. Also, I edited the final draft of the PowerPoint presentation. Although I fell as though our presentation came out very well, as a part of the group, I felt that I should have pushed for the group to get together to complete it sooner than we did. The responsibly for this fell on me because I noticed that things were not getting done …show more content…
As far as evaluations for the rest of my group members, everyone did contribute, but there were slight inconveniences. For Alisha Sandridge, I feel as though her efforts deserve an eight. This is because up until the week before the due date of the project, she was not responding in the group message, and so she was not able to contribute to the interviews in the doctor’s office or give any other contributions before then. Makaylah Hunter- Toney as a group member results in a seven. I give her a seven partially because she also did not respond in the group message until the week of, and while she did her parts from then on out, I also felt as though she was a little critical of Alisha. For example, Alisha choose to decorate our poster as her contribution, and the whole time she was decorating Makaylah complained about little things Alisha did the whole time. It was uncomfortable for the rest of us and not fair to Alisha. For Jalen, I rate her efforts a nine, this is only because Jalen went home the weekend before the presentation when there was still work to be done, and we all needed to meet together. Other than that Jalen completed all the things she stepped up to do
Working in a group to achieve a high quality group project can be one of people’s most difficult school experiences. Working in a group is tough because there is often someone who does not pull their own weight. “There are five stages to group development, adjourning, forming, storming, performing, and norming” (John & Wiley pg 166). Christine’s group from the Case Study the Forgotten Group Member is in between the Storming and Norming Stages. The Storming Stage “is dealing with tensions and defining group tasks,” while the Norming Stage is dealing with high emotionality and tension among the group members” (John & Wiley pg. 166). Christine and her group could have had better
The Sierra Academy serves student with learning disabilities. They have variety of programs which include speech therapy, occupational therapy, small class sizes, counselling services, small group instruction/specialized programming. I was privileged to observe and interview Maria Gonzalez’s class for six hours. I had a good experience with the class and felt that I should share my story. Eighty percent of the class needs where mild to moderate. Although, I saw a couple of those who could function pretty well on their own with little or no supervision.
This project has been a very enlightening experience on how you have to sometimes let go of the control and let someone else take over. My grade will be based on a group effort instead of my own individual work and that really did leave me feeling uncomfortable especially since we were not allowed to choose who was in my group and who shouldn’t be in my group. I am lucky to say that after really speaking and interacting with my group members, Luna and Lasheika, I felt a lot more secure in my grade for this project. That is not to say we did not have any problems. At first, we had some technical difficulties that resulted in Luna not being able to communicate through group text but she
My experience with my group could be considered a bit of a wild ride. At the beigining there was trouble contacting everyone and getting a messaging group formed. It’s understandable that not everyone could have seen the email right away, being busy college students and everything. As time went on and the deadline got closer eventually responded and stepped forward to see what they could help with on the project. Because I was a over worried that no one would respond at first, I had already done essays on cinematography and changing the theme of “Stagecoach” ahead of time, so everything was going smoothly. The last night before the project was due I was putting the finishing touches on my two word docs for the project when disaster struck.
First, we worked together fairly well as each person chose the right job for themselves. Our strengths were building and gluing, and our weakness was spending way too much money. Each one of my group members took pride in their job and did it accordingly because of their efficiency I never had to put an X on their checklist. My evaluation of each co-worker is Ian did very well with delivering forms, Ava did extremely well by planning the bridge, Kiera was amazing with glue and helped us a bunch in sticking the toothpicks together. I think I did fairly well as a project director and as an accountant as I was able to fill out all journal entries finish the checklist and be able to make sure order forms were correct. As a co-worker,
We actually had a good small group of four people. The group was perfect size; not to many people, but not too small of a group that it was over whelming with the work for the rest of the people in the group. We were all assigned individual that were in our group which was good, and met that we had purpose to complete this task. If we would have picked our own group then I am not fully positive if anything would have gotten done, because people would probably pick the people that they mostly talk to. In our group we had a leader of the group (Jessica) and we also had diversity with our different back grounds, and their being more than one gender. Knowing this leads us to that this was a positive situation.
Participation in group discussions has been a weakness for me, but I have communicated with my PIE group everyday to discuss homework and exams. Although I was not a leader in the classroom, I did serve as leader in my tri-pie and I took initiative to talk to Mrs. McMillan about my speech and group. I believe I deserve a 90/100 in my communication and participation skills.
In conclusion, I really liked working with Amy Cruz and Diana Maldonado. I would work with them again any time. I am also glad that for the first time, I did not end up doing most of the work and had the experience of working on an effective group. In my opinion I think every group assignment should be fairly work on and not just one member end up doing all the work for everyone so they can earn an easy
3. As a group Sophia, Cassy, and I worked very well together. We all completed our jobs and didn't miss any assignments. I always did my job and eagerly participated in the group discussions. However, I did occasionally get distracted talking to members of other groups. Sophia was always prepared for class and she greatly contributed to the group discussion and comprehended all of the stories very well. She helped organize the group, but sometimes she would get overly upset with me for little reasons. Cassy did not contribute to the group as much as Sophia and I did, but she made up for this with the effort she put into her work. She tried her hardest to do all of the proper assignments and did a good job. Towards the end of the group, she
Overall I believe my key contribution to the task overall was to provide the group with a structured approach and to make sure there was a precise order to when the presentation was presented so it would look as professional and well understood as possible.
There were many positives and negatives while working in a group but in the end the issues had to be put aside in order to finish the program. Each health educator contributed an adequate amount of work towards implementing the program. Every interim report was distributed in parts to each of the health educators but worked on as a group. At certain times, health educators became irritable with each other and wanted to separate because we felt like the group was not working well together. Part of the issue was procrastination because of busy schedules and the numerous amount of hours needed to be designated for this assignment. In some areas of the project, certain health educators contributed more because of the specific skills they acquired in previous classes.
Being involved in a group project was a challenge for me, due to the fact that we had some communication problems between our group members in the beginning. First of all, we started with a brainstorming, analysing the opportunities of companies around Hendon Central. More than this, we agreed on the same firm and started our work. Within a teamwork, there are some challenges that occur such as remaining focused on a direction, splitting equally the work and choosing a good leader. Bearing all this in mind, I might say that we did our best during the presentation and we coped with the minor communication issues. From this experience, I realized that I am a good leader and I can manage efficiently a project.
During this activity Sasha and Jaleesa emerged as the group leaders. They both were very helpful in answering any question that anyone in the group was confused on. Also, during the group activity I acted extremely friendly and welcoming. I also made sure I was actively listening and giving all of my group member excellent good eye contact. As for my group members, they all acted very similar to the way I was reacting. In addition, some of the group member were extremely informative and really helped me understand the whole concept of the group proposal. Furthermore, throughout the group activity did one thing that made me proud and one thing that made unhappy. One thing that the group members did that made me proud was when everybody shared a meaningful reason to why choose their specific book. Moreover, one thing that made me unhappy about the group was that we were missing two members in the group. This made me unhappy because I don’t want any of the group members to be lost or confused.
When we first got together as a class I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this class because one I hate being in a group with random people I don’t know and two I do not like public speaking with random people. So at first I was judging this class based on my fears of being in groups with strangers, then once we got paired with our groups and I was with Tyler that made me more comfortable with talking to the group and getting to know everyone. Besides Tyler who I play football with we were grouped up with two other athletic people. First was Alex who is a member of our Girls Lacrosse team here at West Chester and is also a Junior. Next is Hannah who is also a Junior and played a ton of high school sports and her brother plays football at PennState so this adds to her athletic features in her family. So once learning we all love sorts we had to narrow it down to what we would like to observe together. We came down to the football team and the Athletic Training Program here on campus which helps our student athletes with injuries. As a group we thought that ultimately we would get a better perspective with a group other than football so we went with the AT program. This is where we came up with the name for our group which was Training Rams and if your wondering who came up with it, you guessed it Tyler Higgins. So this brings us to how we would be able to function as a group since we were all seemingly quite people.
Our team comprised of four members; Emily, Cileena, Chelsea and I. We were all delegated with an individual role each term and I was designated team leader for the first term for our group. I felt at the time that this role did not suit me as I am the type of person who is more on the shy side. In addition, the course had just begun so I was relatively unsure of how the course was handled which also affected my ability to serve as the team leader to the best of my capabilities. During the first term, our team responsibility was the evaluation team. We created a well planned and carefully executed evaluation rubric to assess each group’s performance. The start of this term was when the phases of group development initiated. The first stage of any group is forming (Harris and Sherblom, 2010, p. 58). At this time, we were all still getting to know each other and were uncertain upon one another
