The people of the United States of America are given special rights that are guaranteed in the Constitution - The Supreme Law of the Land. The Second Amendment of the Constitution declares, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of the free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." People may have this right, however advocates of gun control believe guns are too risky.
Opponents of gun control claim guns have protected them in a self-defense situation. Gun control is defined as government limitaion of the purchase and ownership of firearms by the Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia. Opponents of gun control argue that the right to bear arms is guaranteed to all citizens by the

Among those that we will look at are the media, public opinion, and the Constitution and the courts.
II. The Media
The media today has played a major role in the issue of guns and violence. The media has been blamed for the increased availability and use of guns and other weapons. The two major forms of media, the entertainment and the news media, have been involved differently in this issue. Entertainment media is one form of media which is accused of promoting the use of guns. The entertainment media includes films, television programs, and books. Gun violence is very popular in entertainment. For example, here is a passage from a "James Bond" novel which shows how guns are used in the media. "007 went to sleep with a .38 Colt Police Positive under his pillow. Later, the British Secret Service agent carefully nestled his .25 Beretta with a skeleton stock under a shoulder holster under his left arm" (Wieland 1). Gun violence has been used in this type of media and a major concern is the influence that it has on the public, especially young people. The way that guns are used in entertainment media can influence the buying, selling, and use of them. News media is basically the media that informs the public on the daily
The ongoing debate over whether gun control works or not is a controversial topic in the United States of America. As each year passes, an increasing number of citizens demand more regulation in gun ownership. One side of the argument is that gun control has failed to have a major impact on gun violence and exclaim that these regulations and laws infringe upon their 2nd amendment rights as American citizens. The other side claims that the existing regulations are not enough to stop gun violence and even some people calling for the repealment of the second amendment. The side of the argument that will be supported in this paper will be that the regulations on guns are not effective and in some cases infringe on the 2nd
Gun control is a vital necessity to the welfare of our nation. Many people out there are supporting the “anti- gun control cause” with the excuse of “self-defense”. I believe that not everyone will handle a gun for self-defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions that one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a criminal will gain power over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a gun, that person has complete control of their actions and may act upon the weapon however the person may please even if they know that their action will cause harm to defense-less people. There are many deaths caused by guns out there that could
President obama said at a press conference on October 01, 2015 “The solution to such violence is obvious. It cannot be this easy for somebody who wants to inflict harm on other people to get his or her hands on a gun.” (Simple Minded Gun Control). Gun control is a controversial issue worldwide. The reason why this has attracted so much attention is because not everyone is in favor of gun control and each side brings up excellent points about the issue. Research related to this issue strongly supports the claim that there SHOULD be more gun control laws. Three arguments that prove this position are (1) Incidents like Sandy Hook will be less likely to occur (2) It reduces the high rates of accidental deaths (3) As the years pass by and technology updates the laws should be up to date as well. Members from the National Rifles Association state that No law-abiding American should be forced to face evil with empty hands. I say I agree with President Obama there SHOULD be more gun control laws because it should not be as easy as it is for someone who wants to inflict harm on others to get their hands on a weapon.
News is all around us and is readily available to everyone. There are many flaws in the system that hurts the authenticity of the news when you see it. The media is indirectly part of the political system. Most news is either considered liberal or conservative by many.
Gun control in the United States has been a controversial issue for some time now. So much so that the Supreme Court even refuses to address this issue directly. Gun control really boils down to the the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Many people have different interpretations of the Second Amendment and the trenches are dug in deep on this issue. The Second Amendment can not provide the right to bear all types of arms to protect the people from governmental tyranny. If the Second Amendment was absolute, then we would allow the public to possess nuclear weapons, missiles, and other such arms, because like the 9 mm handgun that is an arm, a nuclear warhead is also a type of arm. The more our government restricts our rights to own
As a citizen, I am concerned about the future of this country if this type of violence goes on. It not only impacts the current generation but also future generations. That is why I support gun control, while I realize that guns are needed for protection, safety measure are also needed to keep people in
Advocates for gun control often perceive the amendment in somewhat of a different way. These people look at the first part of the amendment that states “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State” which implies that weapons are guaranteed to the people during a time of need to help defend a free state solely as a Militia. Obviously, today there is no need for a militia because the United States has armed forces to protect peoples freedoms and rights. This amendment was written during a very different time and under different circumstances, this is one of the core arguments for advocates of gun control. Just for clarification I would like to mention that advocates for gun control are not against allowing people to have guns these people are more about supporting stricter laws for guns to make it difficult for these weapons to fall into the wrong hands.
The American Constitution and the Bill of Rights are amazing documents in their wording. Its writers showed astonishing foresight in some ways, and understanding that they could not accurately predict the future in others. These documents grant specific and vague powers to different departments of the Federal Government. The wording allows for changes to be made in its content and interpretation. One example of all these qualities, is the Second Amendment, and its interpretation has caused heated debate in recent years.
As you and your family walk through the store, a man dressed all in black walks in and pulls out an assault rifle and starts firing. People fall to the ground including your mother, killed by the raging bullets. You and your surviving family hide, hoping to not be seen by the gunman. By this time the Police arrived, ending the carnage. You were lucky, although others were not. Reports later prove this man was mentally ill and was able to acquire weapons without questioning. How could this of happened to your family and countless other families? The answer is the lack of gun control.
Gun control is one of the most talked about topics in modern day America. 43 of 50 states have the right to bear arms. Most states have to background check you in order for you to purchase or sell guns. Some other states prevent carrying guns and some other ban assault rifle weapons. People who support the gun laws say that the second amendment was meant for militias and that gun restrictions have always existed. People who oppose that say that guns are needed for self-defense from people who invade houses or are actual threats. Although both of those are correct, there will always be two sides for control laws.
Gun control is a another way of saying don’t allow people that aren’t allowed to carry a gun have one it’s a big matter and people don’t take things that serious intel the day things aren’t controllable . The meaning of having gun is to protect yourself a gun is not a toy. The felony that you get for having a gun that’s not under your name is very harsh on your record. Although people do not follow the laws eventually they will be caught what goes around comes around. In the United States there’s about 1 to 10 every person has a gun.
Gun control is a controversial topic that arises frequently in the United States. This old issue resurfaces whenever a gun related crime such as a school shooting, terrorist attack, or police shooting happens. The goal with gun control, which is more commonly pressed by Democrats, is to make the purchasing of a firearm more difficult to attain. This common problem of gun control is something that is constantly on citizen’s minds and has been for years. It’s current legal status is somewhat tricky to understand as it is different state-wide. While there are some rules and regulations to follow in order to get a gun, some are not seen as solid ways to control anticipated buyers. Therefore, there is a high demand to make the regulations of purchasing
Gun control is a means of restricting the types of firearms sold, and controlling who can purchase them. Too many innocent lives are affected by persons who use weapons for the wrong reasons. The possession of such dangerous weapons is to be taken more seriously.
Living a life in America, we all get to have all the rights that included in the Constitution. One of those was the Second Amendment which is the rights to bear arm, the purpose was to protect ourselves from danger but nowadays a lot of people have take advantage of it and use it in the wrong way. I believe our government need to have a strict limit on guns possession.
Almost every American knows about the situation with gun control. Does the second amendment give us the right to keep gun? Does the second amendment not give us the right to keep gun? Who should have guns? Should anybody have Guns? People ask and debate these questions every day. Gun violence has greatly increased in the last fifteen years. School shootings seem like a weekly thing now and it is heartbreaking and time to change the laws and protect are citizens better. Some people believe the government should make more strict laws and more background checks to keep guns out of the wrong hands, while others believe the second amendment should be repealed and take away the right to own a gun. William Safire believes the second amendment should be repealed and taken out of the constitution. Other people believe that owning a gun is their right and nobody can take that away from them, but William Safire thought of a way to replace the amendment with a new amendment.
