Gun Control Reform Case Study

For my research paper i will be writing and telling you about gun control. I will also be discussing three main points, which are how we use guns for self defense/protection, gun ownership, and also the wrongs and rights. I think it is wrong for them to try to take our guns, if they do people might riot and we lose our protection, what do you think?

The Gun Owners of America, Inc. is an amici group that is a public, non-profit. The organization that was founded by senator H.L Bill Richardson in order to preserve and defend the 2nd Amendment rights the group is now ran by a nationwide network of attorneys. This is a gun right organization with the mission being to preserve the rights of people to bear arms.

More gun control might lead to fewer suicides by gun. Between 1999 and 2013 there were 270,273 firearm suicides in the United States, accounting for 52% of all suicides in those years. Firearm related suicides accounted for 61% of gun deaths in the U.S.A. between 2000 and 2010. Gun control might lead to fewer gun deaths, but it will not lead to fewer suicides. As my father says, “If someone is so mentally deranged that they think taking their lives is the best solution to their problems, they will commit with anyway possible”

Gun control is a controversial issue for a long time around the world, particularly in U.S. because of a lots of mass shooting in school and public places. The second Amendment of the U.S. constitution is one of the shortest in all of the bill of right, it was written by the time period of American’s birth and it is the spirit of self-defense that help the new citizens of U.S. win their own freedom from the British. But now as the gun shooting problem happening every day in America, this gun control problem has gradually become to a hot issue. Compare to other countries like Britain, Canada, Japan, China, the difference between U.S. and those countries is in these countries to get a firearm is a very difficult thing

Mass shootings are increasing in the United States, and gun control advocates are seizing the opportunity to push anti-gun legislation to deter gun violence in America. Guns and the Second Amendment have come to the forefront of political rhetoric, leading to conflicting views between lawmakers on the future of gun legislation. Republican lawmakers are encouraging law abiding citizens to acquire firearms and to defend themselves against acts of violence by criminals. On the contrary, Democratic lawmakers believe the only way to slow gun violence in the United States is to remove guns from society. While certain politicians believe strict gun laws would protect the American people, the proposed policies would make our nation more vulnerable

People who appreciate activities like shooting competitions and hunting, use firearms responsibly. This use contrasts with other uses, which often result in consequences that can be both intended and unintended. With past and present mass shootings, and acts of bloodshed perpetrated with the usage of weapons; has triggered a focus on gun control that once again has been brought into the spotlight. The purpose of the ongoing gun argument addresses the crimes that are committed with guns. This issue of gun control separated people into two groups: those who believe that carrying guns might prevent some crimes and fatalities, and those who don’t. There are individuals who believe absolutely the reverse: that more crime and deaths

Eighty-nine people depart from this earth due to gun violence in the US every day. From school children, to victims of domestic violence, to people going about their daily lives, this status quo is unacceptable. On Tuesday January 5th, 2016 President Obama announced that he would send proposals on reducing gun violence in America to Congress. His spokesman, Jay Carney, mentioned that this is “a complex problem that will require a complex solution.” The ability to own a gun is considered by some a birthright of Americans. However, with crime rates involving handguns rising each day it has become quite clear. Handgun laws must become stricter in order to reduce homicide and crime. The question is, “which solution in most effective in decreasing gun violence?” Gun control is a major conflict that is constantly reoccurring and the US is seemingly divided over it.

On Wednesday June 18, 2015 nine shot dead at a historical black church in Charleston, South Dakota and only a month later on July 16, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee with five dead leaving citizens devastated. The past year contains more than 350 mass shootings, averaging 1.02 shootings per day and continuous growing number of deaths, multiple mass shootings around the world leaving dozens of victims in its path. There is no exact definition of mass shootings, but most sources believe it is when four or more people are shot in one location. Citizens in America are easily able to obtain a gun and the growing issue is whether this should change and stronger laws in place. Although citizens believe gun control laws take away second amendment and right to protect themselves, mass shootings are increasing yearly and action needs to happen to prevent the next attack.

In about every nation, gun control has always been an issue of controversy. Gun control laws are quite different from country to country, each possessing different requirements, specifications, and ordinances, so on and so on. What will be examined are the specified gun control laws in three international countries, ranging from Canada, Australia, and Japan, as well as a comparison and contrast of the the similarities and unique differences toward American gun control laws and those in other countries, and finally, the effects of having loose gun control laws. Unlike America, these countries possess stricter laws regarding gun control.

Some Democratic and Republican leaders and followers are interested in a bi-partisan middle ground when it comes to gun control. President Obama proposed a “Common-sense gun safety reform”. This would include, businesses that are selling firearms must be licensed to do so, expanded background checks, and improve mental health outreach (Rienzi, 2016). A majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun restrictions (ProCon.org, 2016).

Next, part of the reason gun control was so prominent in the 2016 presidential election and campaign. It seems that (former) President Barack Obama (in office 2008-2016) has suddenly shown his true colors as a gun control-supporting Democrat. Back in 2008, when he was campaigning for his first term in office as president, he blew off gun control, saying that his opinions on gun control were not “an excuse not to vote for me [Obama],” and he did not put much emphasis on them; the only notable thing that was said on the matter was a call for “common sense reforms” (1). These reforms are believed to mainly push background checks, as it is considered “common sense” to ensure that one’s criminal record and mental health are in order before he/she

Exploring the issues in gun control is the name of the article and it sounds obvious that the article is going to be about the issue behind mass shootings. The article is written by Dan O'Brien and Betty Stanton, who are both professional writers with great amount of knowledge about the issues in gun control. Dan O'Brien is a currently a Director of Safety and Environmental Health for San Antonio Water System, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified in Homeland Security. Betty Stanton is a 14-year veteran of U.S. Navy who is currently a currently a graduate student from Texas A&M University pursuing in Master of Public Service and Administration degree from George Bush School of Government and Public Service. Based on the name of their article, it seems like the article is going to talk about the connection between gun uses and the shooting incidents; however, guns are not the case. The gun control is not the real issue in mass shooting. Many people believe that guns are the main reason that there are more killing and shooting, especially mass shooting, but their facts usually fail to support their argument. Gun-free zones sounds like a safe place to be at and not have to worry about any mass shootings, but it always turns out wrong. In the article, Richard Mark, the former Arizona sheriff, says that guns are already banned in schools and that is why the shootings happen in schools. There haven't been any real evidence that gun laws decrease amount of mass shootings

The Sandy Hook incident that took place in Newtown, Connecticut has caused a lot of people to rethink about the second amendment and even go on to alter it. A lot of people think that the availability of weapons for people is the reason for these shootings. It now appears that the cause that re started this entire episode which was the Sandy Hook incident will not be fixed by what the democrats are proposing as a solution will not be solved. It appears that the weapons Adam Lanza obtained from his shooting were actually his mother. Lanza's mother purchased the gun in accord with the Connecticut laws. It appears that the restrictive legislation that has been suggested for this state would still not reduce his access to them. Gun control basically refers to the various means of probation or restrictions on keeping weapons with a person. These restrictions look over not only the possession of firearms, but on the transport and use of them.

Their opinion contradicts the opinion of some in saying that the right to have a weapon makes a society free.
